CHAPTER 59

~Together we can make things work~

*JIMIN*

Jimin groaned in pain coming up to his feet, he quickly went to Namjoon, ignoring the pathway that just appeared and landed a mighty slap on his face, imprinting the mark of his fingers which was stained with his blood on his face.

“How dare you let her escape!?” He yelled at the top of her voice, glaring hard at him.

“What the…” Namjoon muttered under his breath, rubbing his now bruised cheek, hissing in pain. “That hurts.”

“I don’t care.” Jimin yelled through gritted teeth. “This was our only chance to get her, why then did you ask her to escape, huh?”

“I didn’t ask her to escape!” Namjoon said to him.

“Then what did you do? Ask her to take a walk?” He scoffed. “That bitch almost killed me!” He stated. “Are you by any chance working with them?”

“MINNIE!” Jungkook called out to him angrily, coming to stand beside Namjoon.

“What?” He barked at him. “How sure are we that this guy isn’t working for them!?”

“Simply because your personal maid betrayed you doesn’t make everyone an enemy, Minnie. And Namjoon will never do such a thing.” Jungkook said.

“Do you trust him that much?”

“I trust him with my life.” Jungkook stated, surprising Minnie, Namjoon and even himself!

“I trusted Lisa.” He said in a whisper.

“Namjoon isn’t Lisa.” Jungkook replied.

Namjoon let out a deep sigh, bringing out his phone and handing it over to Jimin. “What do you see there?”

Jimin stared down at the phone for a while. “Are you tracking someone?”

“Lisa. Yes.” He responded, collecting his phone from him and dropping it into his pocket. “I didn’t shoot him with a bullet but rather with a tracking device. There is no way we can arrest Lisa without figuring out their hideout. Lisa is the only source we can use to figure it out.” He gulped. “And I get why you don’t trust me prince… I mean, not after what your trusted maid did, of course if I were you I wouldn’t trust anyone… but can you still remember what I told you before we started working together?” Jimin didn’t say anything. “Do not trust me.” He smiled. “But at least have faith in me. The only way we can make things work is if we work together.”

Jimin let out a sigh, fiddling with his fingers. “I’m sorry…I just…I don’t know! I can’t even give an excuse for doubting you. I’m just…confused.” He admitted.

Jungkook walked closer to him and pulled him into his arms. “It’s alright, okay? I’m sorry for speaking to you like that. I was harsh.”

Jimin shook his head, pulling away from the hug. “I deserved it. I mean, not after slapping Namjoon like that.”

Namjoon laughed, rubbing his cheek once again. “Do you learn boxing? Because honestly your hand hurts like a bitch!”

He chuckles softly. “I’m sorry.”

Namjoon hit Jungkook’s shoulder playfully. “Thanks man.”

“For what?” Jungkook asked.

“For what you did. You might appear to be cold but you are very warm inside. I really appreciate what you just did. And damn, I didn’t know you love me that much.” He joked, smiling.

Jungkook rolled his eyes. “Better don’t be an enemy. And stop fooling yourself…I don’t love you.”

“Very funny, man.” Namjoon stated, looking back at Jimin. “Are you okay?”

Jimin stiffened a smile, hiding his injured hand behind his back. “Yes. Um,” He looks over at the pathway. “What the hell is this place?” He breaths out, changing the subject immediately.

Jungkook and Namjoon looks at the place as well. “You don’t know?” Jungkook asked him.

He shook her head. “I can’t remember going into a place like that.”

“Wait a minute…” Namjoon said in a whisper, bringing out his phone and going through his videos, after a while, he clicked in a particular video of Hwasa…it was the very same video of her confessing to Jimin. Behind her in the video was a huge family photo…and below the photo there was a big black button. That must be the same button, Jimin had mistakenly pushed. “This is the heart of the palace.”

“What?”

“This is the place your aunt was talking about.” He said, going into the place while Jimin and Jungkook followed him from behind.

#Past

“What are we doing here, Jackson?” Sumi asked, getting out of the car alongside Dohwa.

“To clean up a mess, got a problem with that?” He replied her, shutting the door close and walking towards the entrance of the large hospital.

Sumi followed him from behind. “I won’t, if I know what mess you want to clean, Jackson.”

He sighed, running his fingers through his hair and turning to face her. “Your nephew saw what happened.”

“And so did yours.” She pointed out as well, folding her arms across her chest and tilting her head to the side.

“We have to take every bit of information they know out.” He said.

“What do you mean?” She raised a questioning brow at him, bringing her hands to her side.

Jackson brought out a syringe from his pocket and show it to her, smirking.

“What do you want to use this for?” She asked, collecting the syringe from him and stared at it closely. “Wait, don’t tell me you plan to inject Jungkook with this thing.”

“People who hear you speak will think you care for this child.” He rolled his eyes, snatching the syringe from her.

“I don’t. But what do you plan to do with the syringe?” She questioned.

“Make things right, of course.” He shrugged, putting the syringe back into his pocket.

“By?” She pressed on, still a little bit confuse until it struck her. “You want to inject Jungkook with that, right?”

He shook her head, clicking his tongue. “I don’t intend to inject him with this…oh nah. But I intend to inject the IV attached to his arm with this.”

“And what will that do to him?” She asked.

“Make him forget.” He replied.

“Wait, excuse me?” She scoffed. “You want my little nephew to lose his memory?”

“Some memories. Come on, I can’t let any fucking person jeopardize my plans, Sumi. Your nephew will be a problem if nothing is done!”

“And yours?” She questioned.

“Do you really think I won’t do anything to that little fool?”

“You pledge your vow to someone not to harm him, remember?”

“I said I won’t kill him…, but I never said I won’t hurt him.”

“That means that syringe is going to hurt.”

“Nah. Like I said it will only make them forget about that night and maybe disorganize some little things in their head. No big deal.”

“It won’t kill him?”

“Stop pretending to be worried about that kid, Sumi. And no, it won’t kill him.”

She sighed, throwing her hands up in the air as if in surrender. “Alright then. But, why did you bring me here? I mean, you can practically go on with the plan with or without my help so why?”

“Well, yeah, I can go on with the plan alone but I will need someone to get me in.”

She furrowed her brows a little. “How do you mean?”

“Get me in, Dohwa.” He smirked, stuffing his hands into his pants pocket.

She was confuse at first but then it became clear to her.

“Is that all you need? Just a ticket in?” She questioned, smiling.

“Yup.”

“You are very tricky, you know that, right?” She joked, walking into the hospital alongside Jackson.

“You are the boss!”

Sumi approached the nurse seated behind a black desk.

“Hi!” She greeted, smiling at the nurse.

“Hello, Mrs Jeon.” The nurse replied, returning Sumi’s smile with a smile of her own. “I can see you are here to see your son.”

“Oh, yeah. How is he doing now?” She asked.

“Getting better, I guess. But didn’t the doctor tell you that this morning?” The nurse question, raising a questioning brow at her.

“Did he? Oh, yeah. I…um,”

“I get it.” The nurse cuts in. “Your son’s situation is getting at you, right?”

“Uh…yeah. You can say that. Tsk, stupid me.”

She laughed. “You don’t have to insult yourself, ma’am. And it’s quite great to see you smile, Mrs Jeon.”

“Haven’t I be smiling lately?” She questioned, confused.

“You… haven’t.” The nurse responded, staring at her suspiciously. “Anyway, you can go to your son, I’m sure he is waiting for you.”

“Hmm. But um, do you mind taking me to him?”

“Why?” She asked.

“I feel a little bit dizzy. I just want a nurse to be with me just in case I pass out.” She lied, pretending to be sick.

“Do you want me to call the doctor?”

“Nah. Just escort me to Doh…my son’s ward.” She smiled.

“Alright.” The nurse left her desk and came beside Sumi. “Let’s go then.”

“Thank you.”

They both walked towards the ward with Jackson trailing after them from behind.

They finally got to the room, the nurse opened the door and walked in while Sumi and Jackson followed from behind.

“Here we are.” She said, turning to face Sumi, her gaze slowly darted to Jackson who was standing behind Nelly. “Excuse me sir, what are you doing in here? Do you _”

“He is with me.” Sumi cuts her off immediately.

“Oh. Sorry. I should get going now.” She smiled.

“Yeah…you should.” Sumi said through gritted teeth, stepping away for her to pass through.

Few minutes later, they were finally left alone in the ward.

Sumi went closer towards sleeping Jungkook and stared down at him, frowning.

“I can kill him if you want.” Jackson said, coming to stand behind her.

“Don’t!” She growled.

“What is it with you and this kid? Do you like him that much?” He teased.

Sumi rolled her eyes, folding her arms across her chest. “As much as I hate my sister…I don’t want my nephew dead.”

“But you wanted to kill mine, remember?”

“Step-nephew.” She corrected. “And think carefully, did I kill him?” Her gaze went to an occupied bed beside Jungkook’s. “Besides you are the one with the aim of hurting him not me.”

Jackson gaze went towards the bed as well, and slowly a smile made its way to his lips. “They’ve just made this work much easier for me.”

Jimin was fast asleep on the bed beside Jungkook.

“Do whatever you want to do, Jackson and let’s get the hell out of here.”

“Yes ma’am.” He approached Jungkook’s bed and took out the syringe, feeling it up with a substance, he was going to inject it when Jungkook opened his eyes and looked up at him. “Ah, he’s awake.” He smirked.

“What?” Sumi questioned, looking down at Jungkook, the little boy was staring right back at her. He was looking very sad and his gaze were almost pleading as if asking her to stop the man (Jackson) from hurting him.

“Mommy…” He mouthed to her.

Mommy…have anyone ever called her like that before?

Does she even have a child or better still a man who is ready and willing to spend the right of his life with her?

Can she ever be lucky like her sister?

Does fate/life intend to give her a second chance of happiness.

Will she ever be like her sister?

She almost tried to stop Jackson but immediately look away and walked out of the ward after asking Jackson to hurry the hell up.

Jungkook looks back at Jackson, shaking his head and trying to pull away.

“Calm down, little boy. This might hurt a little but hey, you won’t be going through the pain alone.” He patted Jungkook’s head calmly. “Now, let’s make a memory, shall we?” And with that, he injected the IV and so did he inject Jimin’s.

The beeping machine started reading fast and loud, alerting the hospital, the two kids were struggling on the bed, almost at the verge of falling unconscious.

Jackson quickly walked out of the ward and came to Sumi who handed him a nose mask and wore one for herself as well.

“Why are we wearing this?” He asked her, putting the nose mask on.

“The real mother is here.” She nodded her head at Dohwa who was running alongside the doctor to her son’s ward with the king and queen as well. “It won’t kill him, right?”

“Trust me, it won’t.” He rea-
ssured her for the umpteenth time.

“I hope it don’t. Let’s go.”

“Wait,” Jackson said, holding Sumi’s hand. “What if it kills him?”

“Then one of us will have to die.”

“That sound promising.” He smirked.

“It’s a promise not a warning.”

*THIRD PERSON POV*

“What are you doing here?” Jackson asked as Lisa walked through the double doors.

“I got caught.” She said, menacingly.

“What?”

“It was frustrating, okay? I was frustrated! How can I be a maid to that bitch for the rest of my life!”

“You were never going to be a maid to him for the rest of your life, Lisa. I was working towards that.”

“But you were taking so long.” She said angrily, grabbing a bottle of whiskey but before she could make a drink out of it, Jackson snatched it away. “Seriously?”

“I told you, you can’t drink, didn’t I?”

She rolled her eyes, sitting down. “So what are we going to do now? We can’t let Jimin take over the throne.”

“He won’t. And if he does, he dies.” He stated.

Lisa looked around in search of someone. “Where is Sumi?”

“Busy, why?”

She shrugged. “Just asking.”

“Where is Choi?” Jackson asked after a moment of silence.

“He got caught by the police.” She replied, running her fingers through her hair. “Time is not on our side, daddy.”

“I know.” He breaths out, coming up to his feet. “I have to go.”

“Where are you going to?” She asked with a brow raised, questioningly.

“I need to speak with Sumi. It’s time we sit up and get what we want. Immediately.”

“You said if Jimin take over the throne, he dies…do you plan to kill him?” Lisa said, Interrupting Jackson.

“It depends.”

“But you made a promise to Hwasa not to kill Jimin, remember?”

“Promises are made to be broken, Lisa.”

She slowly stood up to her feet, smiling. “You are going to kill him.” It wasn’t a question but a fact. Jackson didn’t say a word but the look he was giving her gave her the exact answer she needed. “Now, that’s going to be fun.” She smirked.
