CHAPTER 36

          ~Run, Detective, Run!~

*JIMIN*

“I never expected your call.” Namjoon said, sitting down opposite from him.

Jimin shrugged. “I know.”

“What do you want to see me for, Prince?”

“I told you not to call me that.” He said through gritted teeth, glaring straight at him.

Namjoon threw his hands up in the air as if in surrender. “Sorry. But really, why did you call?”

“You are working on my case, remember? So I have every right to call you whenever I want to and besides, we agreed that you will always tell me everything concerning the investigation.”

“Yeah. But the last thing I can remember, is you defending your maid and doubting my instinct.” He said.

Jimin let out a deep, lowering his gaze to the table. “That was a very stupid thing to do… I know. But,” He looked back up at him. “You of all people should understand.. I mean, how can a girl I practically grew up with be the source of my aunt’s death? That’s very hard to believe and you know it.”

“You think so? Let me tell you a story..”

Jimin quickly shook his head in disapproval. “Don’t.”

“Just listen. There is a man who fell off a building and died. Most people thought it was a suicide case but the moment I set eyes on his body at the morgue, I knew immediately that it wasn’t a suicide case but murder.” He paused to see whether he got Jimin's attention, and indeed, he got his attention. Her focus were directly on him. “But I've got no evidence to back up my thought so I did what any smart person will do… I search for the missing puzzle. To cut the long story short, it turned out to be that the murderer was his own daughter.”

“What?”

“Crazy, right? If a daughter can kill her father, give me one reason why a maid can’t kill her master?”

“But that doesn’t make any sense… how can a daughter do such to her own father? That’s inhuman.”

“I know right!” He smiled. “Do you know ones greatest enemy?”

“Oneself?”

He chuckles with a nod of the head. “Yeah, oneself but that wasn’t the reply I needed.”

“So what is it?”

“A friend, a family… let’s just say, a trusted someone.”

“You might be right.” He opened his bag and brought out Lisa’s necklace, handing it over to Namjoon. “I think you might be right.”

“What is this?” Namjoon stared down at the necklace.

“Lisa’s necklace.”  responded.

“What about it?” He asked again, still confuse.

“I found that in the crime scene.” He sighed. “I think Lisa knows what happened that night.”

“Here, I brought these for you.” He dropped the yellow flower in front of Hwasa’s tombstone and sat down on the grass, staring at the scribbled writing.

It’s funny. Funny how his parents left him when he was just eight years old. Funny how his aunt came into his life and gave him the unconditional love he’d always crave of. Funny how he lost his eyes and thought he lost everything. Funny how ballet made him find his real self. Funny how Jungkook came into his life and made him wish to see again. Funny how his aunt died and left him as well. Funny how he can see again but can’t seem to find his aunt anywhere. Funny how his life seem to be like a stupid movie!

Jimin let out a sigh, lying down and staring up at the blue sky.

Tears streamed down his face. He want to be strong. He want to forget about everything and just live his life but it was impossible for him to move on from this life. From this fate.

“What do you think eomma, appa and aunt Hwasa? Do you think Lisa is not to be trusted?” It was stupid of him to ask those questions, especially to the dead because there is no way they were going to answer him. “I’m so confused. I trust Lisa but what if trusting Lisa will only make matter worse for me? What if Lisa knows something about that night when Aunt Hwasa died? What if Lisa is the murderer?” He let out a frustrated sigh, sitting upright. “What if_”

“Can you stop that already.” A deep voice said from the other side of the graveyard, interrupting Jimin.

He snapped his head towards the person’s direction. “Shut up.”

“I think I should be the one telling you that.”

“What are you even doing here, Jungkook?” He asked.

He shrugged. “I’m just here to see my father, I guess. What are you doing here?”

He shrugged also. “I’m here to see my aunt, I guess.” He said, mimicking Jungkook.

“Not funny.”

“I just want you to smile, you know.” Jimin smiled.

“Wipe your tears if you want to smile, because crying and smiling at the same time kinda sound horrifying, you know.”

“I didn’t.” Jimin wipe off his tears, sighing. “Namjoon told me.” He said after a moment of silence.

“Namjoon?”

“Yes. The detective.”

“Oh. I didn’t know you knew him.”

“You know but can’t just remember because you were pretty wasted that day.”

“You shouldn’t have seen me like that.”

“But I still did.” He laugh. He look down at his foot and frown at what he saw. “You are drinking.”

“Can’t help it.” He said, picking up the alcoholic drink and chugged down some of the liquid. “Want some?”

“No, thank you.” He politely rejected, scrunching up his face. “You know drinking like this won’t help you.”

“It always does.”

“That’s what you are gonna think until you start experiencing the consequences of taking alcoholic drink.”

“And what are this ‘consequences’” He said, air quoting the word.

“Death.”

He scoffed. “Then I think it’s worth it.”

Jungkook was broken. He was in so much pain. Like him. Jimin could see them in his eyes. He wasn’t enjoying this life. Maybe the death of his father affected him so much that it changed him to something else. Something different.

He might not know him well enough but he do know that he was a good guy and wouldn’t choose to live this kind of life if he was to decide.

Jungkook came to a halt in front of Jimin’s building. Jimin took off the seatbelt and turned to look at him.

“Thank you.” Jimin said calmly.

“Hmm. This is the least I can do to appreciate your effort in showing me those beautiful moves.”

“Those moves aren’t my best.”

“They were great.”

“Thank you.” He opened the car and got down from it. He took few steps but stopped and turned back to look at him. “Do you have any plans for tomorrow?”

“What?”

“I want us to go out tomorrow. I want to show you something. So… what do you say?”

Jungkook hesitate a pretty long time before saying. “Alright then.”

*NAMJOON*

“Have you find anything about her?”

“You mean Lisa?” Soo asked.

“Yes.”

She shook her head. “Not anything suspicious. Do you think this girl is really the suspect?”

“I guess?”

“What if she isn’t. I mean, finding her necklace on the crime scene doesn’t justify anything. What if it’s even a trap?”

“Oh. You might be right but_” He got interrupted with the beep of his phone. He took out his phone from his pocket and read the text that was just sent to him. “what the hell?”

“What’s wrong?” Soo asked in concern. “what did the text say?”

“Run, detective, Run!”
