CHAPTER 31

        ~It wasn’t coincidence~

*JIMIN*

“Hey.” He waved, waving closer to the booth where Namjoon was seated. “You are early.” He sat opposite from him.

“You are late.”

“I have to take care of some things.” He sighed, dropping his bag on the empty space beside him. “How are you doing?”

Namjoon raised a questioning brow at him then said teasingly. “You never ask me that.”

Jimin frowned at him. “That make me look like a bad guy.” He shrugged. “I was through a lot at then. You don’t expect me to act okay when I’m not.”

He laughed. “You are actually acting to be okay, prince.”

He rolled his eyes. “Don’t call me that.”

It was silence for a while until Namjoon spoke again. “I need to discuss something with you.” Jimin nodded his head, indirectly telling him to go ahead with whatever he was going to say. “Why do you think the person who killed your aunt is the same person who hit your head?”

“Well, I just took guess. I’m not so sure. Why?”

He took out his jotter, turned some pages before handing it over to Jimin. “I think you are wrong.” He said.

Jimin glance through the page. “What do you mean?” He asked looking up at him.

“Your aunt was killed in the middle of the night so how come were you hit the next morning by the same person?” He asked him.

“I_” Jimin voice trailed off as he look down at the table. He was right. The person couldn’t have been waiting for him to come in just to hit his head, right?

“I think they are two different people involved.” Namjoon stated, watching him closely.

“Two different people?” Jimin repeated slowly, staring down at the page once again. It was clues Namjoon had written concerning the case. “Why is the scream linking to the unknown person you think hit my head?” Jimin asked, staring back up at him.

He shrugged. “What do you think? Your aunt couldn’t have screamed, could she?” He raised a questioning brow at him.

Jimin stayed quiet as he process his words.

His aunt died in the middle of the night and he heard the scream the next morning, on getting to the room, he was hit on the head.

Namjoon might be right. The person who’d screamed that day wasn’t his aunt but the same person who might have hit his head but the question here was, who?

“Then who could have screamed?”

“No, no, no. The question here is who could this person be?”

“Probably someone who is working for my aunt’s murderer, obviously.” He scoffed.

He shook his head slowly. “Maybe. But how did the person got into your aunt’s room that morning?”

Jimin shrugged off his shoulders. “The same way my_”

“I doubt.” He cuts him off.

“What?”

“Your aunt was killed in the middle of the night which means whoever that killed her came into the palace at that time so he or she won’t be spotted…” He sighed. “And you heard a scream the next morning, on getting there, you got hit on the head, losing consciousness…if this person was really the murderer then you should have been dead by now.” He tapped his fingers on the wooden table. “But why weren’t you killed? And how did this person got into the house during the day when the guards and maids are now vigilant?”

“I_”

Jimin was confused.

The case was getting more broader, complicated and confusing.

“What do you think?” He asked after a long silence.

“There’s a spy working in your palace.” He said to him, confusing him the more.

“A what?”

“Listen, whoever hit you on the head that morning didn’t come through the window like the real murderer did…the person pass through the door. Their main aim was to take out any form of evidence…then something fell which made them to scream and that’s what lure you into the room, due to fear of been spotted inside the room… they hit your head and make you lose consciousness.” He said.

“Wait, all what you’ve just said, are they your imaginations or what?” He questioned.

“My instinct.” He simply stated.

“Nothing broke.” Jimin corrected.

“You think so?”

“Yes. Lisa told me there was nothing found when the police arrived so what is ‘your instinct’ telling you?”

“I found a broken glass under the dressing table.” He informed.

“What? No, that’s not possible.” Jimin said, shaking his head in disapproval.

“You don’t trust me?”

“I don’t.” He answered without even thinking twice. “How can some group of policemen go to a crime scene to look for evidence and couldn’t find anything and just a detective went there and saw a piece of broken glass…does that even make any sense?”

“Wait, are you trying to say I’m telling a lie?”

“You tell me, are you?”

“Are you kidding me right now, prince Jimin?”

“Jimin.” He corrected through gritted teeth, glaring at him. “You don’t expect me to believe that gibberish or do you? I’m not stupid, you know?”

“Well, it seem like you are.”

“Are you trying to call me stupid?”

“You tell me, are you?” He said, using his own words against him.

He slammed his palm on the table, getting up to his feet. “Look, I_”

“I am not asking you to trust me… but in a situation like this you need to trust me. We can’t work together if there is no trust between us.”

“I want to believe you but believing you means doubting Lisa.” He picked up his bag. “Let’s meet up some other day.” He turned to leave but Namjoon next words made him turn to look at him.

“Do you trust her that much?”

“She will never betray me.”

Namjoon smirked. “Really? Tell me, was she the same person who found you in the room?”

“I don’t know.” He responded.

“My investigations should begin with her then.” Namjoon muttered to himself. “What did you aunt warned you about?”

“Excuse me?”

“She asked you not to trust anyone, didn’t she?” Jimin did not say a word. “maybe when you start to trust me and doubt this maid of yours, you will be able to figure out your aunt’s murderer in no time.”

Jimin just turned around and walked away from him, leaving the Café and going into his car, he drove out of the vicinity as he boiled in anger.

*JUNGKOOK*

“where is he?” Jungkook asked, walking out of the elevator.

“In the waiting lounge.” Angel replied, trialing after him from behind.

They both walked into the waiting lounge. Mr Lim stood up to his feet with a smile on his face.

“My man.” He stretched out his hand for a handshake.

“I wasn’t expecting you.” Jungkook said, not bothering to shake him. Mr Lim chuckles to himself, bringing down his hand to his side.

“I wasn’t expecting you to want to meet with me either.” He said.

Jungkook partly turned to Angel, who have been standing there like a lost puppy. “Leave us.”

She bowed her head in respect. “Yes sir.” She walked out of the room, leaving both men to themselves.

Jungkook turned back to Mr Lim. “What are you doing here?”

“I’m here to speak with you, why else do you think I’m here?” He stuffed his hands into his pants pocket. “How are you doing?” He asked.

Jungkook knitted his brows at him. “Why do you care about my health?”

He shrugged. “Just asking.”

“You haven’t answered my question yet. What are you doing here?”

“Is this your way of saying ‘Let’s work together?’” Mr Lim questioned, smiling.

Jungkook rolled his eyes. “Are you going to answer the damn question or just get the fuck out of my company?”

“Hey, calm down man. I’m here to talk.” He sighed. “I_”

Jungkook cuts him off, asking. “Do you know what or who killed my father?”

“Well, maybe or maybe not.” He replied.

“What does that even mean?”

“I might not know who really killed your father but I do know someone who may have a reason to want to kill your father?”

“A reason?”

“Yes. A reason.”

“Who?”

Mr Lim hesitate for a while. “Mr Anthony. You should know about him, he was with you and your father that particular night.”

“What?”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Hold on a sec. What night are you talking about?”

“The night your father died. What other night will I be talking about?”

“Are you seriously kidding me right now?” He scoffed. “Dohwa was the one who was with my father that night and not me so what the fuck are you talking about?”

“Wait, your mother?”

“You can still refer her as that but yes. She even confirmed it herself so what are you saying? Are you here to ridicule me?”

“I don’t understand you, Jungkook. Your mother couldn’t have been the one with your father that night. It was you.”

“Cut the crap, Mr Lim. I’m trying to respect you here but if you keep going on with this shit, you will definitely lose the little respect I have for you.” Jungkook warned. “If you don’t know anything that happened that night then you shouldn’t act like you do and confuse other people. Okay?”

“Jungkook I know what I’m saying.”

Jungkook shakes his head, walking away from him. “No, you don’t. Or maybe you are being affected with old age.” With that, he stormed out of the lounge.

*JIMIN*

“My prince, welcome back.” Lisa greeted as soon as Jimin walked through the double doors.

Jimin couldn’t stop thinking about what Namjoon had told him at the Café earlier today. He know it was stupid of him to even think about it but he just couldn’t stop himself.

What if he was right?

No, not about Lisa being the one he should be careful of but rather for the fact that the report from the other police might be false.

It might not be Lisa’s fault but theirs but still!

“Thank you.” He said in a whisper.

“So how did the meeting go?” Lisa questioned, smiling.

Jimin shrugged. “Uh…not bad, I guess.” He responded, avoiding eye contact with Lisa.

“Are… you okay?”

“Yeah. Sure. Why?”

“You are not acting okay right now, my prince.” She observed.

Jimin chuckles. “Well, I am very okay.” He sighed, his gaze suddenly fell on Lisa’s neck. “Where did your necklace go?” He asked.

“My what?”

“Your necklace. The one given to you by your boyfriend.”

Lisa ran her fingers through her neck. “Oh… that.” She stared nervously. “It…I misplaced it.”

“Misplaced it where?”

“Somewhere around, I don’t know. But it’s no big deal.”

“Hmm. I should probably go inside and have a very cold shower.”

“Of course my prince. I will inform the chef to prepare dinner.”

“Do just that.” Jimin took two steps away but suddenly stopped walking and turned back to Heather. “Are you really sure the police didn’t find anything at all?”

Lisa was confuse at first but get to realize what he meant with that. “Yes my prince.”

Jimin let out a frustrated and deep sigh, walking away from the window. He glance through the room, putting on a very sad look.

He was very sad and broken.

He miss his aunt.

He miss her very badly and felt like crying out all of his heart but funny enough it felt like a crime if he starts crying over again.

He was going to leave the room when he stepped on something, he lifted his leg and bent over to pick the thing up. He slowly brought the silver necklace up to his face, his eyes went wide in the process.

*Where did your necklace go?* He remember asking Lisa that.

*I misplaced it somewhere around.*

*Maybe when you begin to trust me and doubt this maid of yours, you will be able to figure out this murder in no time.* Namjoon had said to him.

*Was she still the same person who found you in the room?*

*Are you really sure the police didn't find anything?*

*Yes my prince.*

*Do you trust her that much?*

Jimin clenched the silver necklace tightly with a deep frown on his face. Only one thought kept playing at the back of his mind; Is Lisa to be trusted?
