Awakening
Ko was sitting in her seat glancing over at Naruto seeing that he was bored out of his mind. As the lesson began, she took notice that the Hokage was walking past the classroom probably checking up on Naruto or herself. Ko started to look out the window out of boredom as he taught about chakra and cringed when a sharp pain was felt in her head.
"Ugh not a headache." She hunched forward in her seat resting her head on her propped-up hand.
"Therefore chakra is influenced by our mental energy." She heard Iruka say when she decided to pay attention.
Ko looked over at Naruto seeing that he hunched over with his head resting on his arms and could hear him snoring. Iruka walked up to his seat and was about to hit him with a book but never did. Naruto then woke up and was looking at the clock.
"Huh? Sensei, class time is over. See? Look." He pointed to the clock which read two.
"Oh, it's that time already," he said as he closed his book "well then, that's all for today."
When he left, Naruto laughed then got up, dragging a chair to the clock went up to fix it.
"How's that for Naruto's third prank? See!" He chuckled thinking he got away with it but the door opened revealing an angry Iruka causing Naruto to fall back in surprise. "Owwww...you found out already?" He groaned with disappointment.
"Return to your seat, let's continue the lesson." He said sternly pointing towards his seat.
About an hour later they all went outside to a grassy area with three stumps sticking out of the ground.
"Okay then now, I want each of you to demonstrate your Ninjutsu skill!"
Everyone looked at Iruka in confusion.
"You're not going to be graded. This is just so I can assess how to proceed with our lessons. So....We'll do a basic clone jutsu. Umm...First up is Sasuke Uchiha."
Right his name was called, all the girls behind him started squealing which made Ko cover her ears to block out the annoyance.
"Clone jutsu is child's play." Sasuke scoffed knowing it was beneath him. He was able to perform elemental jutsu at a young age; he wanted a challenge.
"You always act so smug!" Naruto fumed wishing he could beat Sasuke just once at something.
"Shut up, idiot." Sasuke demanded not even looking in his direction.
"Don't interrupt Sasuke's focus!" Sakura scolded from the sidelines feeling irritated at Naruto's behavior.
"That's right! You're in the way!" Ino agreed with her friend glaring at the blue-eyed boy.
"Okay Sasuke, try it." Iruka encouraged ignoring the bullying going on.
Sasuke made his stance weaving the proper hand signs quickly. If it were any other student, she would be surprised with the accuracy and speed of the hand signs.
"Clone jutsu!" He exclaimed soon after smoke appeared next to him.
When the smoke cleared there were two Sasukes' standing in front of Iruka.
"Amazing! That was a perfect clone jutsu. I can't tell which one is real." Sakura praised with sparkling eyes.
"It's so obvious to me!" Naruto shouted running towards Sasuke. "This one!" He went to kick the one in front of him but it disappeared.
"Wrong," the other clone said.
Naruto tripped losing his balance but caught himself. "Stupid! Hey, that's the real one."
"What are you doing?!" The girls shrieked.
"Am I the only one who finds this annoying?" Ko thought looking around at everyone else.
Naruto went for another kick on a clone but once again it wasn't the real one. Ko looked up in the tree where the real Sasuke was.
"Wrong again." He said jumping down from the tree.
"Sasuke-kun!" Sakura squealed making Ko's hand go to her throbbing head.
"Amazing, two clones in an instant while the real one moved elsewhere." Iruka said.
"Humph! I can do clone jutsu too!" Naruto boasted, "clone jutsu!"
Next to him was a poorly made clone on the ground and was very pale. The class erupted in laughter.
"This guy's such an idiot!" Habachi bellowed.
"I don't know what your problem is but quit lunging at me." Sasuke said.
"He's right. I say that because every time you do something, you hold up our lesson, and it's an annoyance." Shino said.
"What?!" Naruto shouted readying his fist for a fight.
"Yeah, you're an annoyance! You're a germ for just being alive!"
"That's so cruel Habachi, but he's right!"
"What?!" Naruto yelled angrily making his face turn a shade of red.
Iruka stopped Naruto by grabbing his shoulders holding him back.
"Everyone! Quit making fun of Naruto!" He finally defended.
"Sensei" Naruto said with a smile glad that someone for once defended him.
"Don't bother...with this kid." The look on Iruka's face showed nothing but disgust as if Naruto was not human.
Naruto's smile fell to a surprised look turning into despair. Iruka turned around walking away while the others followed in suit. Ko looked over at Naruto wondering why everyone hated him so much. He only wanted to get everyone's attention but that couldn't be the main reason why they were being cruel to him.
"C'mon, everyone. Let's continue our lesson."
Ko was behind Naruto so as she walked past him, she put a hand on his shoulder. He didn't bother looking up at her so she only followed the rest of the class into the academy leaving him behind.
"Ha Naruto is such a loser," Kiba snickered hearing everyone agreed behind him except for Ko.
She didn't want to converse with them not really interested in what nonsense they were saying. Bullying wasn't her thing and she was also a victim to their cruelty.
The following day they were back outside for more training.
"All right. Today, we'll do hands on practice of shuriken jutsu. Let's have someone demonstrate it for us first. Let's see."
He looked at his clip board while Naruto and Kiba were trying to get his attention.
"Leave it to me."
"I'll do it in one try!"
"Me! Me! ME!" Naruto shouted raising his hand and standing on his toes.
"I can do it!"
"Shino, go ahead." He called.
"Iruka sensei, you chose the wrong person. The reason is, for all forms of warfare, the Aburame clan relies greatly on the parasitic insects we house in our bodies." Shino said while bugs were crawling up his face creeping everybody out.
"Okay, enough! Sasuke, show us the basics."
Of course the squealing starts.
"Why is Sasuke always called on?" Ko thought.
"Sasuke!"
"Do your best! Go for it!"
"Sheesh! That Sasuke always acts arrogant! So how come he's so popular?!" Naruto complained from Ko's right side.
Sasuke readied himself taking out his many shuriken. Throwing them, he lined them up perfectly on the post in front of him.
"Hmmm....well done, Sasuke."
"All right, Sasuke!"
"You're so cool!"
"Hah! Show off! I can do that too!" Naruto boasted crossing his arms.
"Then Naruto, you're next." Iruka said.
"All right! I'll show you!"
Naruto stepped forward as Sasuke walked back standing next to Ko. Naruto took out his shuriken looking determined as ever.
"Go!" He shouted as he threw them missing the targets completely. One landed right next to Iruka's head. Everyone started to laugh except for Hinata, Sasuke, and Ko.
"He's never going to be a ninja," Ko couldn't help but think it. Everything he has done so far was pathetic including his failing grades.
"Are you kidding me? Every one of them missed!" Kiba pointed at the target cracking up.
Naruto started to laugh along with them putting on a fake smile.
"I was fooling around!" Naruto laughed causing everyone to stop then ran up to Iruka.
"Sensei! One more! Just let me do it one more time! I'll be serious!" He pleaded.
"No, that's enough. Okay, who's next? How about Ko."
Ko stepped up getting out her shuriken proceeding to throw them. All the shuriken hit the log but not in a perfect line like Sasuke's. They looked more like they'd be in a connect the dots book.
"Very good Ko," Iruka praised.
"Thanks Sensei." Ko said walking back to her place.
Soon everyone went taking turns so now school was over and everyone was waiting for their parents.
"Say Shikamaru, want to go to the candy store?" Choji asked.
"No way, you're okay because your mom's nice. But if my mom finds out that I had a snack before dinner, I'll get it." Shikamaru replied.
As Ko exited the academy doors, she heard two boys whispering beside her.
"Did you hear? Everyone in the Uchiha clan got killed."
"Yeah....I heard my dad talking about it." There gaze shifted to Sasuke. "He's the only one who survived."
Ko looked over at them and shot them a glare. They saw her automatically shutting up. She started to walk home with Sasuke right behind her.
"You didn't have to do that." Sasuke said stepping in front of her blocking her path.
"What?" Ko responded stopping in her tracks. Sasuke had a good couple of inches on her so she had to look up at him.
"I saw the look you gave those boys when they were talking about me. You didn't have to do that."
"It's not right for people to be talking about others. I know I wouldn't want someone talking about my family. I'm sorry though, it was wrong of me to get involved." Ko responded stepping around the Uchiha heading home.
Sasuke was silent for the rest of the walk home until he reached his door.
"Why did you come home so late?"
"I was training."
"Since class let out?"
"Yes, I don't want to fall behind..... Sasuke?"
"Hm?"
"Do you think I'm a freak?"
Sasuke was taken aback from her question. He looked at her and saw the look in her eyes. The look in her eyes seemed almost real but he could tell she was faking the emotion of sadness. He knew it all too well. He knew what true sadness looked like and he knew that she was never affected by what everyone says about her. He went along with her little charade.
"You are strange, but not a freak."
With those words, Sasuke went into his house and Ko went into hers. After a few hours, Ko left her house again and went back to the training field. She heard someone walking towards her. When she turned around she saw Kabuto.
"I have a question for you," Ko said.
"What is it?"
"Can you release the power of the necklace? Just for a little bit. I've been getting headaches lately and I believe it's because I have a lot of unused chakra building up inside."
"Hm I think I might know what it is."
"What?"
"Orochimaru-sama told me that your kekkei genkai should be activating soon and that might be it."
"Do you know what it is?"
"He wouldn't say, that's actually the reason why I am here. I'm going to help you activate it."
Kabuto walked over weaving a sequence of seals then released her chakra. Ko felt her chakra travel throughout her body feeling like herself again and powerful. She then started to feel an immense pain in her eyes making her grunt grasping her head. Kabuto watched as Ko fell to her knees crying out in pain writhing on the ground. Her eyes were closed shut as tight as they could go. The pain eventually started to die down so when Ko opened her eyes, everything around her was red. Kabuto was taken aback at her eyes; they were glowing bright red and Ko gasped at what she saw. She was a bit disappointed that she couldn't see that far, maybe a few miles. but she could see behind her and see through some objects. She looked up at Kabuto able to see his chakra throughout his body even seeing his life force around him.
"W-what? Is this the B-Byakugan?"
"No, it's better than it. Now I see what Orochimaru did. He couldn't get the Sharingan or Byakugan so he got the next best thing, the Subete Miru."
"What is it?" Ko said standing up. "I can't really see much. I can sense everything but can't tell what it is. I can see your chakra and even life force. What else can I do?"
"As you grow, so will your eyes; training helps as well. With this you can also look through buildings if you want to. You will now perform extraordinary genjutsu able to fool anyone even if they have the Byakugan or Sharingan. You can sense anyone's individual chakra and see their life force seeing if they're either dead or alive. You can predict someone's attack from their life form. The most powerful ability you have which Orochimaru wanted was that you can bring someone who's on the verge of death back to life by transferring someone else's life force."
"Will I need all my chakra to activate this?"
"I believe so, but I've heard many with that ability are able to activate it without chakra. It might be painful though activating it without a lot of chakra, let's see what happens."
Kabuto walked up to Ko and activated the necklace making it absorb her chakra until her chakra went back to how it was. Ko once again felt weak from the effects.
"Try to activate it again."
Ko focused on her eyes putting chakra into them and felt pain in them once again. She opened her eyes which were glowing red.
"Does it feel the same?"
"Just hurts more,"
"Practice activating them every day; your body will get use to it. I'll come back to help you train every chance I get."
"Finally, my kekkei genkai has been activated."
