(Amani) Chapter 6
I never really liked being wrong but this is one of those times that I wouldn't mind it, in fact I'd welcome it with open arms. I knew what it was, but I just had to find out who even though I had a suspect already. I was 73% sure that it was Calix simply because he had blue eyes and black hair which matched the wolf's perfectly and the timing of our meeting was too much of a coincidence. However they didn't act the same, the wolf was cunning and liked playing games or rather scaring the living shit out of me. Then there is Calix who is sweet and a gentleman at that, so there's no way he's the wolf unless he's putting on an act.
And if Calix is the wolf and interested in me and wanting to get to know me then he wouldn't try to purposely scare me away..... Right? All this thinking was making me hungry as I remembered Calix's message from earlier and a brilliant idea popped into my head as I sent him a message.
Amani: Do you want to have dinner at my place tonight?
Calix: Amani's homemade cooking? Count me in!
Amani: Great, see you at 7:00 then!
He didn't ask me where I lived, which was suspicious. Maybe because he'd been here from time to time being a creep by stalking me. A minute later I got another text from Calix.
Calix: What's your address?
A weird part of me was a little disappointed that he asked for my address, it was probably the delusional part. I texted him my address and began making dinner. I knew werewolves couldn't touch silver so I was for sure going to use my silverware. I also did research on things that were harmful to them such as chocolate; much like a dog.
So, I made a chocolate cake, spaghetti with diced onions in it with garlic bread and as a side dish fruit salad. Not to brag or anything but I'm pretty good at cooking pretty much anything, which I prided myself on. Deciding that I would dress up a little I put on my pretty cream colored dress and flats. I let my hair down letting it flow to my waist and deciding to keep on the jewelry I had on earlier. I went to the dining/ kitchen as I set the island table and it was now 6:30 which meant he should be pulling up soon. I don't know why but I found trying to expose him was really exciting because I knew it had to be him.
He may not act like it but the looks are certainly there and I find it odd that he was still single which meant that he had to be putting on a front. No one and I mean no one who has a right mind wouldn't take a chance to jump his bones and you're trying to tell me he's single? Yeah I'm not buying it. He only showed an interest in me because he had been stalking me and playing mind games with me and probably just wanted to get to know his 'prey' more before he killed me or something.
I feel so stupid for giving him my address now because I didn't even think that far ahead. What if he was a killer or something and I just willingly invited him into my house. I slapped my hand on my face, facepalming myself disappointed with my brain.
All of a sudden my phone buzzed with my ringtone scaring me out of my thoughts. It was Calix calling and I swiped my finger right answering the call. "Hello." I said.
"Hey I'll be there in five minutes." He said in his usual captivating deep tone. I looked out the window gazing up at the night sky that harbored a convenient full moon.
"Alright I'll see you when I get there." He said as he waited for my response. "Okay." I said hanging up. A few minutes later I saw car lights shining through the window indicating that he was here.
I heard him park his car in the driveway as I went out the door to greet him. Of course he had an expensive looking sleek black car as he got out of it wearing a black button down dress shirt and cream colored pants with black loafers on. He looked divine and I was glad that I decided to change into my flowy cream colored dress, matching with him. He waved his hand at me, signaling me to come over
"You are so beautiful," he said, smiling tenderly down at me as he reached into his car and pulled out a bouquet of roses. "and these are for you." My heart melted at the kind gesture. "Thank you so much, but you didn't have to do this for me." I said as I took the roses from him, smiling gently.
"I never do anything I don't want to." He said as he grabbed my free hand and gently pulled me into a hug. My face was pressed against his lower chest and he smelled sooo good, emitting a fresh scent of pinewood. He wrapped his arms around my lower back and I instinctively hugged him back wrapping my arms around him.
We stayed there just embracing each other for a second. "Well thank you for the roses, and for paying for my groceries earlier." I said, pulling back slightly to look at him. "You're always welcome." He said as we smiled at each other untangling ourselves from one another. Could he really be the bad guy I thought he was or was my brain just going too far with its analogy?
He grabbed my hand and led me to the door, opening it for me to go in. "Ladies first." He said as I went in thanking him. "Let me get that for you." He said while pulling my seat out for me as I went to sit down.
"You're such a gentleman, are you like that with all the ladies?" I asked jokingly as he pushed my seat in as I turned slightly to face him. He raised an unamused eyebrow at me and said, "I don't cater to women I have no interest in being with." "So, does that mean you're interested in me, Calix?" I asked, mimicking his expression causing him to laugh.
"I wouldn't be here if I weren't, Amani." He said as he walked to his seat with his eyes never leaving my own. Just like a predator. I thought to myself regaining my wavered determination to expose him.
He took his seat and looked at his food almost like he was examining it. He beamed at me before looking back at his plate, "Thanks, I love spaghetti."
"I'm glad because I forgot to ask if you were allergic to anything before making it, but let me know if something isn't to your liking okay?" I said as I watched him go to pick his 'silver' fork up. He picked it up while I watched him intently, trying not to make it obvious that I was on to him.
"I will," He paused, "but I'm not allergic to anything." He said assuringly as he looked up at me while swirling his fork into his spaghetti. He put a big piece of onion and garlic on his fork and took a bite of it almost mockingly while never breaking eye contact with me. Did he know what I was up to?
"What?" He said with an amused brow. Plastering a fake smile on my lips, "Do you like it?" I asked. "Of course, I have to say this is honestly the best spaghetti I've ever had." He said confidently, taking another bite of his food and going for another.
I scoffed, taking a bite of my own, "You're just saying that to be polite." He paused from swirling his fork in his food and looked up at me accusingly. "I don't lie, about anything Amani."
I was going to say something back to him when my phone rang. "Hello?"
I answered without picking up, tearing my eyes away from him. "Hey are you okay? You hung up the phone quickly, so I figured that I'd call you back later." Alex said through the phone.
"I'm fine, but now isn't a good time, how about we talk tomorrow?" I suggested as I heard Calix shift his body in his seat causing me to look up, almost dropping my phone at the sight of him. His eyes weren't their normal vibrant blue color anymore, instead they were replaced by pitch black ones. He had his hand under his chin supporting his head with an irritated look on his face, staring at me. In short it was terrifying.
"Sure, I'll call you around 3 okay?" He asked. "Yeah.." I replied curtly before hanging up the phone, never putting it down. "Y-your eyes." I stuttered.
"The better to see you with, my dear." He said with his lips contorting into a sinister looking smile. What the hell did I invite into my home? Was he going to kill me?
"W-wh-what are you?" I said as I trampled over my words in fear. "Who was that on the phone?" He asked, ignoring my question. "Are you going to kill me?" I asked as I ignored his question in return.
I don't know how I still managed to have a smart mouth in a situation like this, but here we are. Great, It looked like I pissed him off even more. He laughed a humorless laugh and said, "When I ask you a question, you answer it Amani."
"He's a friend......that's all." I said to comply with his demand. "Are you going to kill me?" I continued. "Why would I kill my mate?" He said blandly as he continued, "I would never hurt you, ever."
"Mate? Like a friend?" I asked, causing him to laugh, this time it being genuine. "No, a mate is a person who you were destined to be with and once you find them you can't live without them. Ever heard of love at first sight?" He asked and I nodded.
"Words Amani." He said, causing me to roll my eyes as I said getting annoyed, "Yes Calix, I know what it fucking i-." I visibly tensed because In a blink of an eye he was beside me squatting down with my jaw in his hand turning me to face him, cutting me off.
"Be a good girl and watch your little mouth Amani, and the next time you roll your eyes at me I'll make you regret it and you'll roll them back in pleasure instead." He said pointedly, as I swallowed hard, not sure if it was out of fear or lust. He left no room for discussion as he went back to his explanation. "When I was in the woods on a run I knew you were my mate before I even saw you. Your smell is so addicting." He said as he grabbed my free hand kissing it and taking a deep breath in.
I fought the urge to snatch my hand away from him, but I knew that'd make him angrier so I decided against it as I continued to listen to him. "You're perfect for me." He said as he planted soft kisses up my arm causing my heart to skip a beat as he got closer to me. "The way your body fits perfectly against mine." He demonstrated as he molded my hand perfectly against his.
"The way my touch makes your heartbeat race with excitement." He said as he looked up at me smiling. "You are mine and mine alone, and I know that you're a human, so I won't rush your progress with the mate bond. But believe me when I say that I will not play nice when it comes to you." He said, causing a raised brow to appear on my face.
"I know that guy asked you out earlier, and I want you to turn him down." He said expectantly. This is where I draw the line, no one and I mean no one can tell me who I can and cannot hang out with. Who does he think he is, god?
"No." I said confidently looking at him, causing a look of anger to pass through those black voids of his. I realize that I'm playing with fire here, but for some reason I really feel like he won't hurt me. Even so I will not be told what to do like a child. "No?" He asked concerningly low.
"I said n-" I didn't even finish my sentence before he picked me up out of my seat like I weighed nothing. I let out a scream as he put me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. I could feel my dress fly up exposing my ass as I used one hand to cover it failing miserably, and the other to claw at his back with my manicured nails.
I soon gave up trying to cover my ass, deciding I didn't care anymore, as I instead focused all of my energy into clawing and hitting his back. "Where the hell are you taking me?" I asked demandingly. "To the bedroom." He said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "What, Why?" I asked, stunned. "I've been too lenient with you and it's caused you to misbehave, but don't worry, we're going to fix that little problem, starting now." He said with a dominant tone in his voice as he carried me up the stairs.
