Chapter 34 Forced and Involuntary

Previously, on His Alpha Her Omega

"Okay. I've got to go take care of something, but I'll be back, and when I do get back, I'll pile in bed with you," I tell him, as I gently kiss the top of his forehead, and exit the room.

I stop outside the waiting room and mind link Keith. "Get down to the pack hospital now."

"Alright Alpha, I'll be there soon."

"What about Cody?" I ask.

"My brother's closer to you then you think," Keith replies. I look around the waiting room, and see Cody sitting in the chair in front of me, looking down at the floor.

My eyes go wide. "Okay just get here as soon as you can," I say, as I cut the link.

I run over to Cody. "Cody, what are you doing here? Why didn't you go home?"

Cody then looks at me with tears is his eyes. "There is no home for me anymore."

What on earth is going on?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I wait for Keith with Cody in the waiting room. Cody hasn't looked up or said a word to me since he told me he didn't have a home anymore. What did he mean by telling me that?

When I see Keith walk through the doorway 30 minutes later, I make the dreaded 'follow me' motion with my pointer finger. We head towards the hallway that leads to the conference room. As we head towards the hallway, I notice that Keith's walking normally, but Cody is limping slightly.

"Why are we in trouble? We didn't do anything to Luka," Keith says, as we approach the room.

"More importantly, Sophie, how's Luka? Is he okay?" Cody asks, concern clearly in his tone.

"Okay, first off, Cody. Luka's fine. In fact, he's in his room sleeping. Oh, and you boys are not in trouble."

The boys look at each other in surprise. "Oh, that's a relief, but if we're not in trouble, what did you bring us here for?" Keith asks.

"I want to know what's going on." I sit on the table and cross my arms. "Look, Cody. I know something's going on at home. I can tell." Cody looks up at me and nods his head silently.

"It's nothing, Alpha, just a little feud going on between him and our parents, it's nothing we can't handle," Keith explains, but the look on Cody's face is telling me another story.

"Keith, I know you're trying to protect your little brother, but I heard Cody say it himself on the day I first grounded you two. You and Cody are twenty years old. You're grown men. Let Cody speak for himself."

Cody looks at his brother. "I think we should tell her."

"I don't think it'll be wise, do you know what they would do to us if they found out we told..."

Cody cuts him off. "Come on man, I'm tired of having this thing on my chest. She's the Alpha. They can't touch her."

"Cody, I'm still not sure about this."

"Look, bro, if you don't want to tell her together, I'll tell it to her myself. Now, what do you want to do?" Cody whispers, a little louder this time.

Keith sighs. "Alright," he says, with a nod. Keith then looks towards me. "Sophie, we didn't want to do the things we did to Luka."

"If you want to know the truth," Cody adds, "then we're going to need some chairs. Because this is going to take a while."

Keith then picks up three of the chairs from the table and sets them down. "Thanks, Keith. So what's really going on at your house?" I sit down.

"Well, it started back when your father was Alpha," Cody says, as he and his brother sit down themselves. "One night, a few years or so after we first shifted, your father woke us up and told us to meet him in his office alone. We were to tell no one about this, not even our parents. When we walked into the office he told us to sit down. He had a job for us. We had a new Omega, and he needed to be, uh, "broken in", as he put it. Of course, you and I both know what he really meant.

"Well, at first we rejected his orders. We wanted no part in this, but then he told us that if we did it, we'd become Betas. It was the rank that our parents wanted us to be, but at that time it seemed impossible for us. We were forced to agree, and from that day on we were his servants. Everyday we'd take our orders from the Alpha, then we'd go out and do what was asked, and over time that became the norm, but it never got any easier for me."

"You do realize, Cody, that you and your brother could've stopped after my father died?" My arms are still crossed.

Cody shakes his head, "No, we couldn't."

"What do you mean?"

"A few days before the attack that killed your family, your father came and visited with our parents and told them what was going on," Keith continues. "He asked them to take over giving the orders if anything were to happen to him. At first, they just repeated the orders, but it didn't take long before it released something twisted and dark within our parents. Our parents became obsessed with making Luka's life a misery. There was nothing they wouldn't do to Luka for their own twisted pleasure. After our dad would give us our orders for the day, our mom would come with us and hide behind a nearby tree, filming what we did. Then they edited the clips and made them into what I guess counted for our home videos."

Cody cuts in. "Our parents would watch the videos they made in their spare time for their own gratification. If we ever tried to disobey their orders, we were forced to watch the same tapes for hours, for days on end, without food or sleep until we agreed. That's how it was, until the night before Luka was kidnapped."

"Tell me, what happened the night before Luka was kidnapped?" I ask him.

"Alright, but first, Alpha, did Ace tell you how he knew we were coming?" Cody asks me.

I shake my head, "Well, he just told me that things in my pack were not what they seemed, so I just figured he meant we had a snitch."

"Well, you were right about one thing, Alpha. We did have a snitch, but it wasn't Chris. He was honest all the way and he wasn't going to hurt Luka. The story he told us, that was true. The real snitches were our parents, they helped Ace plan and carry out everything."

"Hang on," I cut in, "how did they come to know Ace?"

"On the morning that you came to get Cody and I to take us to Den House, our parents were shocked when they saw that Luka was there with you. They then were upset with us because we couldn't keep him in the shadows from you." Keith tells me. "After we got home that afternoon, our parents told us that since you found Luka, the secret would get out soon. So to cover their tracks of what they had done, they started working on a plan B to get rid of Luka for good, but they didn't want to get their hands dirty. So they reached out to Ace, since they knew he wanted your mate for revenge. After dark, they decided to meet on the edges of the river to hatch the details."

"So, what exactly happened that night?"

Cody sighs. "The night before Luka was kidnapped, our parents soaked a whole chicken in a pot of special yip-nip that was tasteless. After he got knocked out, I was supposed to carry him over the border so that Jake and Duke – the boys you saw on that early evening – could pick him up. However, my parents didn't count on me turning against them. While I was listening to their plan my inner soul was aching. I knew from the sound of this plan that Luka was going to die and the secret was going to die with him.

"That's when it happened. I finally realized. I'm twenty years old, I'm a man, and I have a choice. When my dad gave my orders, I refused. I stood tall and held my ground. My dad took his fist and rammed it into the side of my head. I snapped and pushed him back as hard as I could, before running out of the front door, and I haven't been back home since."

"Where are you staying, Cody?" I ask him.

"Under Luka's bench. I try to fall asleep at night but the nightmares get me every time. That's why I look like such a mess, I haven't even been at Den House since that morning."

"I've heard enough from you boys. You two are no longer grounded," I say.

"What?" Keith and Cody both ask in sync.

"Keith. You can return to patrolling, and Cody, the same can be said for you" I say, standing up from my chair.

"Thank you so much, Alpha," Keith says sounding grateful.

"Actually, Alpha, can I still work at Den House?" Cody asks.

Keith turns his head towards him. "Why bro? I thought you loved being on patrol with me."

"I do. I mean I did, but Den House is where my Heather is, and that's where she'll always be."

"Sure you can. In fact, if you want me to, I can ask my Aunt to let you sleep in the Alpha's private waiting room. Keith, you go ahead and go on home" I say.

"Cody, would you like that for tonight? You'll have a roof over your head," I tell him.

"Yes, thank you so very much Alpha."

"Well, alright then. Thanks a million. You two are now free to go on with the rest of your night," I say.

Keith and Cody both stand up and start walking towards the door, but then Cody stops and looks at me. "Oh, and hey, Alpha. You sent Ace a really strong message when Jake and Duke got back with Luka."

"Oh yea, how so?"

"The wound you gave Duke when you were in the meadow biting into his leg went gangrenous a few days later and his leg had to be amputated. You got your mate back, but Duke lost his leg." Cody and Keith exit the room.

You can't escape karma, I think to myself, as I open the door to go check up on my fellow pack mates.
