Chapter 2 Trusting

Here it is guys, Chapter 2. A quick note, my friend @TatiiiC, my partner on this Joined account for writing books, might be getting her book 'Best Mistake' published, so well done girl, I am so happy for her. Anyway, onto the chapter, we hope you like it :) :)

Previously, on His alpha her omega

When the much smaller wolf lands in Cody's jaws, he lets out a blood-curling howl which reverberates against my eardrums. My eyes return to normal. My wolf then starts to stir inside me. "He's our mate. He's Our mate, stop them!" She yells. I shift without thinking twice about it, and break into a running stride in only a few seconds. I can feel my paws hit the ground as I race to save my one and only.

My soul mate.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My cream colored paws dig into the dirt slightly as I run, sending me forward like a spring that has just been sprung.

"Hold on baby. I'm coming. Just hold on a bit longer," I howl.

As I rush by the other pack members, as they look on with different facial expressions. Some look at me like I've gone crazy. Some look at me with confusion. What is she doing? Where is she going? There are even some who are just looking at me with wonder on their faces. Whatever they are thinking, they all go by in a blur.

Finally. Keith, Cody, and my mate come into view. My two head Betas are still tossing him around as if he were a ball. When Cody's toss misses and my mate limply falls to the ground, whimpering all the way, Keith gets upset. He then makes a motion like he's about to rip into my mate, with my heart pounding and warm heat spreading throughout my body, I run faster, much harder.

"Get away from him!" I snarl, revealing my canines.

Just before Keith can finish his job, I jump over my mate to stand in front of him in a protective stance.

"Get out of my way!" Keith growls, probably not realizing who I am.

"Excuse me!" I snarl louder, revealing my canines even more.

Then, as if on cue, Keith's gray ears flatten, as he now realizes who he's yelling at.

"Oh, Alpha," He lets out a small whimper.

Then Cody speed walks next to his big brother.

"Alpha, please have mercy on us. It won't happen again, we promise," they both whine in unison. Cody's silver gray wolf and Keith's dark gray wolf lie down on their bellies in submission.

"My office, later on today," I growl deeply.

I let out a howl to my uncle Liam, who is at my side almost instantly. As well as being my uncle, he's also my head elder.

"You called, little Sophie?" He grumbles.

"Yes," I growl. "Take these two to my office. No who's, what's, or whys till I can get there."

"Yes ma'am," Liam says, nodding his head.

Then he turns his head towards the two brothers. "Dude, we've really stepped in it this time," I hear Cody huff, as he, Keith, and my Uncle Liam turn away from me, and start to walk away.

"Oh, shut up," Keith growls under his breath at his younger brother, as my Uncle leads them towards my office.

With a deep sigh, I turn back towards my mate and start to walk over towards him. My mate hasn't moved since the last toss from Cody, but I know he's not dead. I can see him breathing. I start to walk around to the other side of him. As I do, I start to look him over. He's about the size of a Labrador retriever, and no bigger. He has russet colored fur on the top half of his body, and white fur on the lower half.

As I'm walking around his backside, he raises his head. I stop, and stare into his eyes, they are a rich golden brown, the same color as fresh honey. We look at each other for another moment before he puts his head back down. "I am so done for," he whimpers. Once I'm around the other side, I stop. It's not him I'm looking at, but rather the infestation of fleas and ticks on his body. It looks like he's being eaten alive.

I turn towards him, and start to walk over towards his belly. When I'm as close to my mate as I can get without actually being on top of him, I lay down. I take this time to look at his belly for a minute. Small black dots cover the surface of his stomach area. I pause for another moment before bending my head down, and gently starting to groom him, all the while whimpering soothing things to him.

His body stiffens at first, when my muzzle makes contact with his fur. "Shh, relax. It's just me, baby," I whimper softly. He relaxes, but only slightly.

I'm in the middle of grooming my mate, when I notice something. Mixed in with his russet fur are all the teeth marks that Keith and Cody left on him. I wonder if he has a problem with healing. I have to close those wounds or they might get infected. Luckily, I know what to do. I gently get up and bend my neck down towards one of the wounds, and start licking it.

I know it sounds weird, but the licking stimulates the brain to produce endorphins, which relieves his pain, but for a werewolf, the licking also helps to stimulate the healing process to go quicker. So with any luck all the wounds will be closed in a little while. After I've licked all of his wounds, I decide to show him what my other form looks like.

When I shift back into my human form, it's not what I was expecting. I was expecting that he would shift back too, and give me a hug or something like that. Instead, he jumps up and tries to squeeze underneath the small park bench, which he was facing; he barely manages to fit.

Am I really that bad looking? I ask myself. I shake my head. No that's not it, he's just afraid, but of me, why? Then I think harder. The incident with the two Betas didn't look like it was the first time, and the fact that he's all the way out here means that he probably has a low rank. Well, he did have a low rank.

I get down on both my knees. "Come out baby, don't be scared," I say in a calm voice.

He just lets out a high pitched whimper. I can't call him out, I'm not going to force him out, and you can forget about me trying to lift up this bench. I'm about to give up, when I remember something my Mother used to tell me. 'The way to a mate's heart is through his stomach, and I know that saying was true, because my Mamma could cook, and she and my Daddy had a long and happy life together. It doesn't take a well trained eye to see that my mate is little more than skin and bones. I look around. I can see a hot dog stand on the next street. I hold my left hand up. "Stay" I say firmly. "I'll be right back," I add, as I stand up.

I walk up to the hot dog stand. The vendor greets me."Hi, Alpha, what can I do for you?"

"I want to get a plain hot dog," I reply. "No bun, no toppings, no condiments, I just want the dog itself."

"Okay, that'll be two dollars."

I reach into my pocket, and pull out four dollars. "You can keep the change."

He hands me my hot dog, wrapped up in a paper napkin. "Thanks, and have a nice day," the man says, with a smile.

"Thanks, and to you as well!" I turn, and start to walk away.

I walk back towards the park and stand in front of the left side of the bench, just a few feet away from where my mate is hiding. I get down on my knees.

"Come out, Hun," I say, trying to get him out myself. He just whimpers again, "Do you want something to eat?"

He perks his head up at the mention of possible food, but he still doesn't come out. All I can see is the honey color of his eyes, and the sunlight streaming off the top of his mostly russet colored muzzle. I tear off a small piece, and throw it just a few inches from the underside of the bench. He just sticks his muzzle out, sniffs the piece of meat I just threw his way, then looks back up towards me.

"I won't hurt you. Go ahead and eat," I say, in a kind voice.

He then bends slowly down and takes the meat in his mouth, chews it, and then he swallows it down. "Good. See I told you I wasn't going to hurt you, but now if you want some more, you have to come out," I say to him.

This time my mate sticks his head out, and he whimpers a little. I throw him another small piece of hot dog. He eats it after only a few moments. "Now, a little more," I whisper to myself.

My mate starts to walk out from underneath the bench, but just as he's getting his shoulder blades out, he whimpers, and backtracks back underneath the bench. Now, only the round part of his face is sticking out.

"Come on baby. You can do this, I know you can," I say, holding the hot dog out to where he can see it.

He slowly gets his shoulders and front legs out, he looks at me. I nod, and give him another piece.

Little by little, I've gotten almost all of his body out from underneath the bench. All that's left are his hindquarters and tail. The hot dog is now only the size of my hand, I look up at him.

"Alright, babe, this time I want you to do something different for me, okay? I want you to walk over to me. Do you think you can do that?"

He flattens his ears and slowly comes out from underneath the bench, and walks slowly over to me, his head lowered to the ground, his tail tucked between his legs. When he comes over to me, I tear off a small chunk, about the size of my finger and give it to him. The last chunk of the hot dog is about as big as my palm. I'm saving it for the last part of my plan.

"Alright, you're almost there. Now for the last chunk, you're going to have to let me stroke you," I say to him.

He flattens his ears again and whimpers. "Come on, Baby. I won't hurt you, you can trust me," I say calmly, holding my hand out.

He slowly lowers his head, and I gently run my hand through his soft fur.

"Hi. I'm Alpha Sophie," I say, as I stroke him. After another few moments, I give him the rest of the hot dog, I stand up. "Come on," I say, motioning for him to follow me.

"Where are we going?" my mate whimpers.

"The Pack Hospital. You need to get checked out," I reply, stepping out of the park. Then I hear whining. Not on the outside, but on the inside. My mate is whining on the inside. I turn around, my mate is slowly following me. It's then I notice that he has a clubbed left foot, or a foot that has a slight curve to it. In this case, his foot is curved to the left. It's probably painful for him to walk, I think to myself. I turn around, still walking backwards.

I slowly take a step back. My mate takes a step forward, but then he limps and grimaces. I take another step back. He takes another step forward, and then he limps. He still whines every time he takes a step, which is gut wrenching for me. Finally after only about twelve steps, I can't take it anymore. I turn around, and slowly walk up to him.

"Lay down on your side," I instruct softly.

He lays down, and then rolls over onto his right side. I walk over to him, and bend down gently. I then place my right hand under his collarbone and the other one I place under his hindquarters, then I gently lift him up and into my arms. As I do, he lets out a slight whimper. If I had done that with a full sized 600 pound male wolf, I would've been crushed. As I start walking again, I hold my mate close, so close that he rests his paws against my chest.

I look down at him. He lays flat, but his eye wanders towards my direction.

"I'll protect you, okay? I promise," I whisper to him. His eyes slowly close, as I continue to slowly walk towards the Pack Hospital.
