Chapter 16 Den House
Previously, on His alpha her omega
"That sounds nice. I'd love to go." Elliot hops off the couch, Luka just nods. As he scooches to the edge of the couch, Elliot walks over and holds his hands out. "It's okay. Come on, I'll help you down. It's alright, you can trust me," he says calmly as Luka looks up at him. Luka smiles and lets Elliot pull him off the couch and onto his feet.
"Good. Well, now that we've got that taken care of, hello. My name's Elliot Deleon Vizzuno and it's nice to meet you." Elliot holds his hand out for Luka to shake. Luka smiles back.
"I'm Luka. And it's nice to meet you as well," He shakes Elliot's outstretched hand. As I watch, I can't help but think that Luka just made a best friend for life.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We spent the rest of the night at Pizza Hut. Originally, it was just going to be the three of us; Luka, Elliot and I, of course. But the moment we walk through the door, we saw Quinn, Faya, Maloney, and Eden, so we decided to make it a party of seven. We picked out our table and got our drinks. I got Mountain Dew, Elliot got Pepsi, and Luka got the Fruit Punch. I wasn't looking at what the others got. Then afterwards, a blond haired, blue eyed waitress who my dad would describe as an Air-Head walked up to the table to take our order.
I tried not to look too stunned when she started flirting a bit with Quinn. Sitting across from him, Faya looked like she was going to start spitting daggers at her. I turned back towards the waitress and placed our orders in, before there was a murder. When she was done, I turned towards Faya. "Faya, remember what you were taught when you were a pup. When in a human environment, you must blend in and hide your Animal side. Or the secret could get out."
"I know, it's just hard when someone else is flirting with my mate. It just makes me want to shift and tear a chunk out of them, you know."
I nodded my head, "I know, Faya. Just do what I do when a human ticks me off. Take in a deep breath and let it out, bite your lip or the inside of your cheek. You won't go wrong."
A little while after that our order came out. Two meat lovers, two stuffed crusts, and a supersized order of bread-sticks. By the time we were finished, almost all of it was gone and all around me there were six werewolves holding and groaning in contentment at their full stomachs, especially Luka. As both our parties were walking out I mentioned to Luka that Maloney was the one that gave him his green bathrobe. Luka responded by wrapping his arms around her neck and thanking her. I felt the urge to growl. I resisted. I heard Eden growl under his breath as well, but one warning look from me shut him up. After Luka and Maloney had separated we parted ways.
We walked over to my silver 2015 Porsche Panamera, which was parked on the other side of the parking lot. Since we're in a human filled town, we have to blend in, which is the main reason we took the car instead of our wolf forms. Plus, there's the fact that my car is totally awesome. I have to take advantage of any chance to take it out. We piled into the car. Luka sat in the passenger seat next to me, while Elliot set in the back seat. I got in the driver seat and started the engine, while Luka buckled himself in and felt the soft leather interior around him. I pulled out of the parking lot.
On the ride home, Elliot asked if he could spend the night at the pack house because the others teased and made fun of him. I could tell this really hit home for Luka, so I agreed. Luka and Elliot were quickly becoming friends. You could tell they had a lot in common by the way they talked to each other all throughout dinner. They were both Omegas, they both loved the outdoors, and they both were beaten pretty badly at their packs. Pretty much the only difference is Elliot at least had food and a house to live in, Luka never had any of that stuff.
When we walked in the front door later on that night, Elliot just crashed on the couch and went to sleep. A few minutes later I picked Luka up, carried him to our bedroom, and had him take his pill, and went to bed as well.
***
Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! I groan. My alarm that I had set after Luka fell asleep is going off, my eyes slowly flutter open I sit up. I then drop down from my side of the bed and walk over to Luka's side, "Luka, Luka." I say as I gently nudge his shoulder.
Like mine, his eyes flutter open. For a moment I just stare at the shine and morning shimmer in his eyes. "What?" he asks me, groggy.
"We have to get up, eat breakfast, get ready, pick up Keith and Cody, and then head over to Den house," I reply as softly and sweetly as I can.
"Yea, alright," he says as he pulls the covers off of himself and walks over towards the bathroom but as he gets to the door-way he stops. "Can we please skip that second to last part?" He adds, I smile at him for a moment before I watch him disappear into the bathroom. I then wait and listen for a second, "Still awesome," Luka says as I hear the toilet flush. I smile and then let out a slight laugh.
As we walk into the living room, Luka walks over to the table while I go over to the couch to wake up Elliot. I bend down slowly. "Elliot!" I say, pausing as his gray-green eyes flutter open. "Time to get up so that we can go to Den House" I say.
"Okay, I'm up, I'm up," says Elliot as he throws the blanket off of him and sits up.
I stand back up again. "I'm going to fix up some eggs, do you boys want any?"
"I would please," Luka says.
"Same here," adds Elliot.
"Well okay," I say sweetly, as I walk into the kitchen.
"Here, I'll help," says Elliot, darting around the couch, into the kitchen and heading straight for the fridge.
"Thank you, Elliot." I watch as he pulls out a carton of eggs, carries them over to the counter and sets them down gently.
As I reach over and crack one open Elliot stands at my side, then he turns his head and smirks at me. "What is it?" I ask as I turn towards him.
"Oh, nothing, it's just...Luka just told me that he likes watching you cook."
I look over towards Luka, he's sitting there, his body twisted around in his chair looking at me.
I turn back towards Elliot. "Well I didn't hear him say anything, so why could you?'' I ask him, arching one eyebrow.
"It's hard to explain, but I'll try to as best as I can. Basically, Omegas can communicate to each other without having to use the mind link. It's like telepathy, or being psychic. Only Omegas can do this. Now Luka, he doesn't know anything, not how to hunt, not how to connect with his wolf. His wolf doesn't know how to use his instincts, he doesn't even know how to use the mind link. The only thing Luka knows how to do, is survive throughout the day."
"Then we'll have to teach him," I say.
I put the eggs on their plates. Elliot grabs two, and I grab the remaining one. At the table, I set Elliot's plate down while he sets mine and Luka's down. "Here you go, buddy, enjoy." Elliot gives Luka's head a gentle pat. We sit down ourselves.
As we walk out the front door, I look around. A thin, crisp, light layer of fog has covered the morning sky. It looks like one of those shots you would find on a postcard. I like it. I then look around to the two boys behind me. Boy, it's a good thing we've got our thick clothes on. I'm wearing a black hoodie, a black pair of sweatpants, and a plain black T-shirt underneath it. Luka and Elliot almost have the exact same outfit as each other, the only difference being that Luka is wearing a white hoodie and Elliot's wearing a dark gray hoodie. If someone were to be looking at them from a distance they would swear that the two of them were brothers, and they'd be wrong, though in a way, on the inside, I do feel like that's what these two are becoming, just like brothers.
We walk a few doors down to Keith and Cody's house. Unlike the pack house their house is not a mansion, but rather a fancy red brick house, with a green lawn, and a big screened in back porch. All three of us walk up to the front door, the dark green front porch making a slight creak as we do so. I then knock on the door, not loud but firm. Luka starts to whimper. I look back towards him and mouth the words 'Block them out' under my breath.
the white door in front of us opens a few seconds later. "Dan, Emily," I greet the couple at the door.
"Alpha," Emily replies as she and Dan both bow their heads in respect.
"Did the boys tell you why I'm coming to pick them up?" I ask them.
"No, they didn't," replies Dan, I'm about to open my mouth and tell them when Dan speaks again. "But your uncle came by later on yesterday evening, and told us."
"Honestly, Alpha, we didn't know," Emily puts in.
"No, no, of course you didn't. Are the boys ready to go?' I ask.
Dan looks back over his shoulder and yells out across the dimly lit house. "Boys! Alpha Sophie's here! You guys ready?"
"Yes sir, but we really don't want to be," I hear Keith mumble under his breath.
"Well, too bad, now get going," Dan says as his two sons push past him and their mother as they come out onto the front porch. I can see the resemblance of both parents in the two boys.
"Morning, Alpha," I hear Keith mumble under his breath. Cody just whimpers with his head lowered.
I'm about to say something but I just shake my head, "Let's go," I say, turning around and slowly stepping off the front porch, the others follow.
"Den House is in between Beta Hood and Gamma Village so the only way to get there on time is to shift. Luka, I want you right beside me" I say, Luka slowly walks over and stands to my left side.
"We're sorry again, Alpha, we didn't know," Emily says as I shift into my wolf. I then look over my shoulder and give her a reassuring whimper, but as I turn back around I see Cody give his mother the 'You have got to be kidding me,' look as he shifts, but I ignore them.
I then look towards Luka, his russet/sandy and white wolf looking towards me, "Just follow my lead okay" I whimper, Luka nods and turns his head back. Alright, let's go," I lightly snarl once I've checked to make sure that everyone has shifted, we all bolt up the driveway.
When we started to run we never expected this, Luka can run like a Porsche, going from zero to sixty in 4.6 seconds, It only takes a second before he's out in front of us. "The Runt's fast, I'll give him that," says Keith, behind me, Cody looks at his older brother and nods in agreement.
I then turn my head back around, "Luka, slow down. You're getting too far ahead of us and you don't know where to go." I yelp at him. Luka turns around to look at me and then starts to fall back, well either that or I'm catching up. As I run up alongside him I give Luka's shoulder a little nudge as a thank you. He reciprocates my nudge. You're welcome.
The Den House is an eight-story, brightly colored house where we keep all the orphaned and lost pups. It has an arcade, indoor gym, indoor pool, dining hall and eight floors of rooms so that each kid has their own bedroom. That's just the inside. Outside, it has a tennis court, a baseball field, two basketball courts, a soccer field, basically, any kind of sporting arena, field, or area, you name it, they've got it. Though it's called Den House, in my opinion I think it should be called Den Mansion. We all shift back as we walk up the dirt driveway, we come up to the sign and stop. Painted on it is a wolf pup chewing on a large bone, on it are the words 'Welcome to Den House,' Luka looks at it then chuckles slightly.
"If you think its cute now, then just wait until you see what they do to it around Christmas time," I say.
"Why, what do they do to it?" Luka asks.
"Since the wolf pups ears stick up and off the main part of the sign, every year they put a red Santa hat over the ears to make it look like the wolf pup as got his red Santa hat on," I reply. Luka chuckles again.
We walk up and I knock on the door a few times, not hard so I don't wake any of the kids up. A middle aged woman with deep-set gray eyes, fine, straight, brown hair that goes all the way down her back, a narrow build, and tanned skin comes to the door and opens it slightly. "Hello, Alpha."
"Ms. Debby Sue," I greet back, I look down at her clothes, she's wearing a long sleeve purple shirt, with light blue jeans. "Always with the purple," I observe.
"I almost always wear purple, it reminds me of art. Now, what can I do for you on this fine morning?" Debby asks, still holding the door open.
"Oh, this is Keith and Cody Grim, and they'll be working here for a while along with Elliot Deleon Vizzuno," I reply, pointing back to the three boys standing behind me. "May we please enter?"
"Of course you can. Come on in" she replies. Debby opens the door wider and we all step inside.
