Chapter 13 Suds and Lunch

I'm sorry for the wait, hopefully it'll be worth it once you read it, hope you like it guys

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Previously, on his Alpha her Omega

"Of course Sophie," says Maloney, bowing her head in respect. As she turns around, I can see Chloe slowly waving at Luka. I turn back towards Luka and see that he's got his left paw raised, waving bye to her as well, then he begins to scratch furiously. That's it, I think to myself.

All throughout breakfast I was trying to remember there was something I wanted to do for Luka today, but I couldn't remember, now I do. I start to walk back towards the house motioning Luka to follow me, he does so.

-----------------------------------------------------------

When we come back into the house, Shelby is nowhere to be found. Where did she go? Did something happen while Luka and I were outside? I think to myself. I walk over to the bar while Luka walks over and sits down on the couch. "Hey, Aunt Sherry, where did Shelby go?" I ask.

My aunt looks over her shoulder. "She went back to the pack hospital to see if any of the other doctors needed some help." She turns around and gets back to cleaning the dishes.

"Oh, and I thought it was because she is still mad at me for not telling her I had the alpha gene," I pause, feeling the guilt rise up within me. "Sorry," I say in a quiet tone as I lower my head.

"It's okay, I'm sure you two will work things out eventually," says my aunt. I am about to speak further on the matter when I remember there's something else I need to ask her.

"Can you watch the house? Luka and I are going upstairs for a while," I say.

"Sure, of course I will," she replies.

"Okay, thanks. Come on Luka, let's go upstairs for a bit," I say, as I walk towards the elevator.

Luka looks up towards me. "Uh...Okay." He speed walks off the couch and follows after me.

When we walk into our bedroom, Luka looks at me again, unsure. "Why did you bring me back up here?"

I stop and turn towards him just outside the bathroom, "I'm going to give you a bath," I reply.

"But, Sophie, I just got one last night," Luka says.

"That was a shower. When was the last time you had a real bath?"

"Six years," Luka mumbles under his breath.

"Wait there. As soon as I shut the bathroom door, you strip down, and give me four scratches at the door when you're ready."

Luka nods.

I enter the bathroom, closing the door in front of me. I start getting the room ready. I start by walking over to the bathroom counter and turn on the heater. Next, I bend down to pull out some blue towels from the drawers underneath the sink. I also check to see if I have enough shampoo there. As I bend down further, I hear four small scratches on the other side of the door.

Leaving the door slightly ajar, I open the door. I can see Luka's mostly russet, sandy colored face and his rich honey eyes staring back at me. I motion him into the bathroom as I slowly open the door up all the way. Luka walks onto the hard tile floor, his claws clicking on the surface beneath him. I close the door behind him.

I pull out the jar of shampoo from the cabinet, and set it gently down on the counter. I make my own wolf shampoo, this particular one is lime green and stored in a glass mason jar. The recipe is a family secret. The only ones who know it are me, my mom, and my dad.

"What's that?" Luka whimpers.

"It's just the shampoo," I reply.

I then walk over to the tub, grab my wolf's head sling from the other side, and hook it to both sides of the tub. Last year, while I was hunting deer, I broke my leg. Now since it was my wolf's leg I could take most of the pain; however, on some days it would just get too much. So my aunt got me a wolf's head sling for my wolf to rest her head on while she was soaking in the tub without drowning herself. It sure is a good thing, our tub is big enough to hold a full sized wolf.

"Luka, walk over here and stand alongside the tub," I say, motioning him to the side of the tub as I step back a bit. I gently pick him up, sliding my left hand under his chest, the other under his backside, and put him in the tub.

I then close the drain, "What's this for?" Luka yelps.

"Just in case you get too overly relaxed," I reply, and then I turn on the water.

As the tub fills Luka starts to go limp. "You might want to take advantage of the headrest in front of you. Just saying," I point out.

"Don't mind if I do," Luka replies with a huff as he rests his head on the dark blue sling.

I then shut off the water, walk over and grab a cup and the shampoo from the counter, and set it down on the side of the tub. I then fill the cup and pour it onto Luka.

As the water lands on Luka's body, I gently start to slosh the water around in his coat, to get the water down deeper into his coat. It feels pretty good as well. Luka grunts as I continue to pour the warm water on him for a minute longer. His head is resting comfortably in the sling and his legs are practically limp. "Luka, this isn't even the best part, and you're already overly relaxed." I chuckle slightly as I unscrew the shampoo lid.

I pour a little bit of the shampoo in my hands and then rub them together for a second before rubbing them onto Luka's body; as I lather it up the fleas start to jump off of his body. I quickly put some shampoo on Luka's neck since I know that that's where they're going next. "There you go Luka, this is the best part," I say as I lather up the shampoo further.

Now the fleas are trapped on Luka's stomach area. I take a small bit of the shampoo and gently rub my hand up and down his belly. Luka's just far enough away from the sling that I can even get the underside of his neck. Now I just have to wait for five minutes so that the shampoo can have a chance to do its job. I hear Luka let out another slight grunt. I look down at him.

Luka's eyes are about half way closed and his whole body's relaxed; if I were to remove the head sling at this moment he would plop down head first into the water. Suddenly, Luka catches my attention again, "Itchy spot," he yelps.

"Where?" I ask him.

"The top of my head," Luka whimpers. For a werewolf, there isn't anything more uncomfortable than an itchy spot, especially when you get one in a place that is impossible to reach and there's no one to scratch it for you. I gently reach my hand up and begin to scratch his head. Luka starts purring, "That's the spot that my wolf's been trying to scratch all morning, he can't really seem to get his leg up there," he says, still purring.

"There, better?" I ask him.

"Better," Luka grumbles.

"Good, now let's rinse you off," I say as I grab the cup and refill it with water, as I do I am shocked by what I'm seeing. The white foamy shampoo that I had just put on only a moment ago is now light gray and full of dead fleas. I look away for a moment, feeling like I'm going to break down. How could he lived like this for so long? Well, I guess he had no choice, he was the Omega after all, loved by no one. Hopefully, that'll all change soon.

"Alright, Luka, time to get out," I say.

"Do I have to?" Luka whines.

"Yes, you do. I have a meeting in a little bit and I would like to take you with me."

"Okay, fine." Luka whimpers as he turns towards the side of the tub and jumps out, leaving a small trail of water around him as he lands on the floor.

As Luka starts to turn his head to shake his body off, I stop him. "Luka, don't shake yet, let me grab some stuff first." I walk over to the counter and grab the four blue towels that I had put on the counter before, and two large, black hair clips from a random drawer.

I walk back over to Luka and sit down beside him, then start work on my new little contraption. I first take two towels that are the same size and line them up perfectly, then I wrap them both around Luka's body so that the towels almost cover his body completely, with only his head and tail sticking out.

I link the two towels together using the two hair clips, one clipped on the front and one clipped onto the back. I stand back. "Alright Luka," I say. "Let it rip." Luka then shakes off three times, each time lasting just 30 seconds.

"Are you done?" I ask him before I even think about going back over there. Luka nods, so I start to walk over back towards him. I unwrap the towels from around his body, Luka's coat is a bit damp but other than that the towels did a pretty good job. I then take the two dry remaining towels and start to towel dry Luka's coat by hand. He starts to lean into me as I continue to buff out his coat with the towels.

Once that's done, I walk around to Luka's head area and gently stroke it as I come around, "There, now both of your forms are clean," I say quietly.

"Thank you," Luka whimpers.

"You're welcome, oh, I almost forgot..." I trail off as I stand up to fetch Luka's bathrobe, still sitting on the counter. I pick the robe up. Luka looks at it.

"Sweet robe, whose is it? Wait. Let me guess, it's yours."

I slowly shake my head. "No, actually it's yours, Luka. One of my pack members bought it for you last night, but I was so busy I forgot to tell you." I put it on the towel-rack just to the side of the tub.

"Wow, Sophie, I don't know what to say," Luka yelps.

"Keep thinking about it because there's a good chance you could see her today. When I walk out of the bedroom I want you to shift back and put on your bathrobe. I'll close the bedroom door so that you won't have to worry about anybody seeing you." I walk slowly towards the bathroom doorway.

"Alright," I hear Luka say, sounding unsure.

As I walk back into our bedroom on my way to the door, I see the pile of Luka's dirty clothes, I can see the necklace sitting on top. I sure hope Luka picks it up when he comes out of the bathroom, I think to myself as I walk by and open the door.

Once the doors closed behind me, I rush down the stairs, when I get down the stairs I can see that it's almost noon. Holey crow, where did the time go? I ask myself. I am then greeted by the sight of my aunt walking towards me, "Sophie, thank goodness you're back" she says, an urgent tone to her voice.

"Oh, Aunt Sherry, what happened?" I ask, my voice turning into alarm.

"What? Oh, nothing. I was just going to tell you that your uncle is coming over for lunch before the meeting and I didn't want you and Luka to get caught with your pants down, figuratively speaking," She replies.

I sigh for a second, then look at my now overly dramatic aunt. "How long until he gets here?"

"About five minutes, I'm fixing spaghetti and meatballs." Instantly, my mouth starts to water. That woman knows how to make my stomach happy in a heartbeat.

"I'll help you set the table," I offer.

"Thank you, Sophie, you're always so helpful," my aunt says. I go over and help her put the forks, spoons, knives, and plastic cups on the table. When I put Luka's cup down at his spot I fill it with apple juice and not a moment too soon. I can smell my uncle's scent as he's walking up to the house. Just a moment later, I hear a knock at the door. "I'll get it," I say.

I open the door and see my Uncle Liam with his dark brown hair, slightly pale face, green eyes, and thick mustache smiling away at me. "Good afternoon, Little Sophie."

I smile like I always do when he says my nickname. "And a good afternoon to you, Uncle Liam." I wrap him in a bear hug as he comes in.

"Thank you for the warm welcome," he says as I shut the door behind him.

"As always" I say.

He then cocks his head over to the kitchen where Aunt Sherry's preparing the spaghetti and meatballs to be served. "Hello, Princess, it smells like you're cooking something good."

She smiles warmly at him, "It is, or at least, I hope it's going to be." she says as she pulls him into a hug and then they kiss each other on the lips. I smile a little. After all these years they still haven't lost their spark, and why would they?

"It seems after all these years we still seem to have that same spark we did when we were younger," my uncle says. My aunt turns towards me, "And maybe, Sophie, you'll have the same kind of bond with yours as well."

"That's right. Hey, Sophie, the word on the mind link is that you found your mate, so where is he?" he asks as he pulls apart from my aunt.

I am about to speak up when I hear a sweet sounding voice coming from the nearby staircase. "Here I am."

Luka speed walks over towards me and I throw my arms around him, "Luka, there's someone I'd like for you to meet. Luka, this is my Uncle Liam. Uncle Liam, this is my mate Luka," I say gesturing to the both of them.

"It's nice to meet you, son," my uncle says, holding his hand out for Luka to shake. Luka slowly raises his hand, then hesitates. My uncle gives me a confused look.

"Don't be confused, he just needs to know it's safe," I say, reassuring him. Luka shakes my uncle's hand a moment later.

"A nice strong hand shake you've got there, young man," my uncle says as they both shake hands.

"Thank you, Sir," Luka says as he looks up at him.

"Alright, you three go and sit down at the table. Lunch is served," my aunt speaks up. My uncle releases Luka's hand and all three of us sit down at the table. My aunt begins to serve the spaghetti and meatballs. She serves Luka first, her mate second, me third, she serves me after her mate because I'm the farthest away from her. My aunt always serves others before she serves herself and sits down.

"So, catch me up, what happened before and after yesterday's situation with the two head Beta's?"

I let out a deep sigh before speaking, "It will be easier to do it this way. Look into my eyes." I let out another deep breath, then my eyes turn from dark green to bright yellow and I begin to replay the events from yesterday in my mind. The image show goes by quickly, only lasting about 15 seconds.

"What was that?" Luka asks as I get finished.

"I just showed him the images from my wolf's mind" I reply, "All werewolves can learn how to do it," I add.

"You said that when the pack members found you, you were taken to an orphanage type house, is that correct?" My Uncle asks.

"Yes Sir, that's correct," Luka replies with a nod.

"Sounds like he lived at Den House," says my uncle.

I speak up. "That's what I was thinking. We'll go back to Debby's in the morning and see if we can find anything" I say.

"Speaking of his past, Luka, do you remember anything about your guardian angel?" my aunt asks him.

"I remember almost everything about her. For starters, she was a real pretty young woman, with white skin, almond colored eyes, and long dark brown hair, but the thing I remember most about her was her voice. When she would sing, even the wind would stop," Luka says.

I shudder. "What, what's wrong?" my aunt asks.

"Oh, nothing, I just got the shivers I guess. No need to worry, Aunt Sherry. But speaking of worried, Uncle Liam, can you mind link Keith and Cody and tell them to bring Keith's camera when they come in to meet with me today" I ask.

"Sure" He replies, then he pauses to mind link them. I look towards Luka.

He's just sitting in his seat, staring out into space, with a look of fear clearly written on his face. "Luka, drink your apple juice, it'll make you feel better." I gently place my hand on the top of his hand. After a moment, Luka picks up his cup and takes a sip of the reddish brown liquid inside, as he puts it back on the table I can see a smile on his face. "See? I told you it would make you feel better," I say. His smile grows, then we all eat our food in silence.

***

As I'm by the front door tying my shoes Luka approaches me. "Sophie, do you think you might have an old pair of shoes? I don't have any."

"Sure. Hey, Uncle Liam, can you bring me the pair of sneakers I had when I was twelve, please?" I ask him.

"Sure I can." He gets up from the couch as I continue to tie my shoes. A few moments later, he comes back with an old looking brown shoe box. I gently take them from him, give him my thanks, and open the box.

Even though the box is somewhat beat up the plain white sneakers look just the same as they did on the day I put them in the box when they got too small for me. I pull them out and Luka stares at them. "Alright, Luka, sit down and give me a foot." He does so.

After I get both of his shoes on and tied I look up at him, "How do they feel, they're not too snug are they?" I ask.

Luka shakes his head, "No, they're not."

"Good. Now I want to see how you walk in them, just circle around the couch and come back" I say. Luka wobbles a little bit before he gets to his feet. He starts to make the lap around the couch, as I watch on.

"They feel a little weird now that I'm walking in them," says Luka as he comes back around.

"It'll pass in time, Luka, it'll pass in time. Now, you ready to go?" Luka nods.

I turn to look over my shoulder, "Alright, Uncle Liam, we're ready."

"Coming," he puts down the paper he's been reading for almost an hour and a half.

"You coming to the meeting with us, Aunt Sherry?" I ask her.

"I'd love to but I got to get back to the pack hospital to see if Shelby needs some help, but I'll see you three off," my aunt says as she walks over towards us. I throw my arms around her neck, "Have a good meeting, Little Sophie, do what you love. Meet the new pack members, ask them questions, make new friends, and if a fight is about to break out, don't start it, but you can always finish it." She kisses me on my head.

She then turns to Luka, "Luka, look at me, this is very important. When those Betas walk into that room, no matter what they do, no matter what they say to make fun of you, block them out. Don't listen to them, just block them out. But on the chance it does turn sour, my niece will be right there with you. I can assure you that." Luka nods and my aunt plants a small, soft kiss on his cheek.

Lastly, my aunt steps towards her mate, my uncle. I can't hear what it is they're saying because my aunt's whispering so low, but I can sort of make out their body language. My aunt starts off by getting close to my Uncle's ear, then after a moment she looks back towards Luka and I before turning back towards my uncle's ear. After another moment I see the words 'I know what to do if the time comes' pass through his lips, "I know you do," My aunt says as she pulls him in for another quick kiss on the lips. I smile again, while Luka turns his head the other way.

"Okay. Come on, Sophie, we don't want to be late." My uncle breaks the kiss with my aunt and opens the front door.

"To the meeting!" I shout as we walk outside.
