Phobias
Dean and Cas packed bags for the trip and gathered up saved money. Charlie was too happy about the wedding to say no to them. As they were about to walk out the door Dean stopped him. He said, "Wait, we're going to need a plane ticket of some sort because I don't have the impala to drive down and back."
Cas whispered, "Shit."
Dean suggested, "With the money we have we could probably buy tickets? I could refund you when we get to Kansas because I have saved money there?"
Cas nodded, "Alright let's go to the airport then. Charlie, mind driving us?"
She stood up and kissed Hannah's cheek, "I'll be right back, babe."
Hannah waved goodbye to them as they left. Cas shook his leg anxiously as he sat in the back seat holding Dean's hand. Dean whispered, "Are you okay?"
Cas swallowed hard, "I've never been in an airplane before and I'm nearly positive I have a phobia of them. Also, I've never met your mother before and I don't think she'll like me. I'm terrified and definitely not okay."
Dean placed his lips to the crook in Cas' neck. He cooed, "I've got you. It's all going to be okay and don't worry about my mom. She'll love you."
Cas cuddled into Dean. He felt safe in his arms. Charlie smiled at them through the rear view mirror. Cas asked her, "Will you be okay with me leaving all of a sudden?"
"I think Hannah and I being alone will be just fine."
Dean and Cas whispered in unison, "Ewww."
Charlie snapped, "Hey don't give me that shit. I heard you two frickle frackling the night before Dean had to leave."
Cas defended, "Well, he was leaving miles away and you and Hannah nearly frickle frackle every night."
Charlie yelled, "We do not!"
Dean chuckled a little and Cas yelled, "So what was that whole roleplaying thing going on last night then?"
Charlie began opening her mouth, but shut it. She finally said, "Fair enough."
Cas smirked, "Check and mate."
Dean kissed the corner of Cas' eye gently. Charlie scorned, "I'm not going to miss you in the slightest."
They had arrived at the airport a few minutes later. Cas leaned forward in his seat and kissed Charlie's cheek, "Hey, I love you, Charles."
She sighed, "I love you too, Cassie. Please, stay safe and call me frequently. I worry about you too much, kid."
Cas nodded, "I will! Okay, bye!"
Cas got out of the car and Charlie yelled, "Have fun, you crazy kids!"
Dean started scooting out of the car as well, but Charlie stopped him. She said, "Watch over my little brother, okay? I trust you and I always have." Dean nodded and continued to exit the car.
She continued, "And also I love you, Deanie-you're family."
Dean smiled, "Love you too, Charlie."
He got out of the car and Cas and him carried their bags inside. Cas was nervous surrounded by the crowds of people rushing to get to their own destination. Dean told him, "Go sit on the bench over there. I'll go buy the tickets and be right back."
Cas nodded and shuffled between people mumbling, "Excuse me," to each person.
He sat down on the bench. His bags were on his lap and he rocked back and forth as a form of calming. A few minutes past and Dean came back. He quickly said, "We need to go now! There's a flight leaving soon! We need to hurry!"
Dean tugged Cas behind him. Cas quietly panicked inside his mind. They began running to the entrance of the flight. They finally reached it and quickly gave their tickets to the woman. She told them their seating and they made it just in time inside of the airplane. They looked for the seat section they were assigned to and shoved their few bags above them where the rest of the bags were stored. Cas breathed heavily when they finally sat down. Cas sat beside the window and stared at Dean. He began hyperventilating. He was having a panic attack. Dean quickly pulled out of his pocket his phone and some headphones.
He whispered, "I made a playlist of your favorite songs. Take deep, slow breaths with this blasting in your ears and focus on me and the beat of the song."
Cas obeyed and shoved the earbuds in his ears. He turned the volume almost all the way up. Build God, Then We'll Talk by Panic! At The Disco played. Cas gently rocked back and forth to the beat and took slow breaths as he stared at Dean. Dean smiled at him and rubbed circles into Cas' back. Cas mouthed the words, "I love you."
Dean mouthed back, "I love you too."
Cas slowly, but surely calmed down. He closed his eyes and cuddled against Dean with the music playing. Dean smiled at him. All he cared about was that Cas was alright, he didn't care about his own well being at this point. There was a moment when Cas was sleeping and the steward offered Dean a bottle of water he flinched at the very thought of it. He felt as if he had grown a phobia of water. The first time he saw water, since the accident, was in the hospital. A nurse had brought him a cup of it and he knocked it out of her hands and all over her body. He apologized over and over, but water terrified him to an extremely unhealthy and irreversible degree.
