On The Road Again

Cas nodded, "Yes..."

Dean answered, "Fine then. I should've died, Cas. There is no explanation as to why I could possibly be alive right now. You can ask me all you want as to what happened, but I'll never be able to tell you because I don't know. You want me to recall what I remember? I remember sinking immediately. I remember gasping for air and only receiving multiple gulps of water. I remember choking on said water. And finally, I remember blacking out with my life flashing before my eyes and all I saw was you. All I heard was you crying, If I say that I love you can I keep you forever?, that's what I remember. I woke up in a hospital, unsure of how or when I got there. I breathed in deeply from an oxygen tank and ripped it from my mouth. I breathed in fast intervals to make up for lost air. I don't know how I got there. I don't know who brought me there. All I know is that I should not be alive. I think about what happened all the time, struggling to swim with seaweed and the weight pulling me down. The coldness doesn't compare to anything I have ever felt before. I felt as if I froze in time, literally. I was just stuck in an afflicting pain that I could not escape. My lungs filled up with water and I gave in to my fate. Somehow, I awoke in a hospital room, expecting it to be heaven. So please tell me, how the hell am I still alive? Because I sure as hell couldn't tell you."

Cas stared at him with his mouth agape. He crawled onto Dean's lap as Dean began crying. Cas wiped away his tears, "Shh baby, it's okay. You're okay. I'm here."

Dean sniffled, "But I'm not okay...it's killing me not knowing, I can't sleep. Hell, I'm terrified of water now. I can't drink it or even use it. I'm even scared to fucking shower! I'm a fucking freak!"

Cas cupped his cheek, "Hey, no you're not. If I have to, I'll shower with you. I'll help you sleep at night. I'll help you to find out what happened. Because I love you, Dick Pancake and everything is going to be okay."

Dean breathed in harshly through his tears and sniffles. He held Cas' waist and kissed him softly. Dean whispered, "I'll always love you, my fucking cinnamon apple." Dean partially quoted, "There may come a day when we can't be together, but if you keep me in your heart, I'll stay there forever."

Cas kissed his cheek and mumbled against the skin, "Please, promise me you'll never leave me again."

Dean pulled him into a hug. There was a part of him that wanted to promise that, but another part of him knew he would break it. Cas nuzzled his face in the crook of Dean's neck and Dean laid his head in Cas' messy black hair. He rubbed his fingers through the strands.

Cas sighed and let go of him. He suggested, "Why don't we eat lunch, since we're stopped?"

Dean nodded and pulled the paper lunch bags from the back. He looked inside and saw a pb&j with the crusts cut off, along with juice and an apple. Dean crumpled it up and threw it into the back. He shook his head, "She packed a lunch for a pre-schooler. Come on, let's get off at the next exit for some real food at a burger joint."

Cas smiled, "That sounds like the Dean I know and love."

Dean held Cas' hand as he drove back onto the road. The next exit was in a quarter of a mile. Cas turned up the music again. Miss Jackson by Panic! At The Disco played through the speakers. Both Cas and Dean sang along. They yelled extra loud to lyrics, "Are you nasty?!"

They laughed in between yells. Cas smiled at him, these past few days have been the longest he's spent time with Dean in one interval in a long time. He wanted it to last forever. Dean drove through the exit. He pulled into the parking lot of some unfamiliar restaurant.

Dean went inside to order and Cas stayed outside to call Charlie. After a few rings she answered, "Sup, Cassie."

"Hey, Charles, so we are on the road again. Had an hour of traffic and stopping now for lunch. Other than that, the drive is pretty okay."

She said, "Well, that's good! Uhm, also we have some news..."

"Jesus, what's up with all of the news lately?!"

She laughed, "I mean it's pretty big news-just found out we're pregnant! The sperm bank's process went by fast and we got the insertion the day after! Just found out an hour ago that it worked!"

Cas lost all ability to breathe, "Oh my god, Charlie! That's huge!"

"I know!"

He asked, "How are you doing with it all?"

"I mean, there's an alien growing inside of me because Hannah refused to give birth to anything, ever. But other than that, I'm doing pretty okay! Still getting ready for Christmas, which is in a few days. I hope you guys make it for Christmas Eve tomorrow."

Cas swallowed hard, "Considering we are a little behind, we might or we might be a little late."

She sighed, "You better get your ass home in time or I'm going to cut off your dick and your boyfriend's dick and feed it to hungry orphans for Christmas!"

Cas announced, "Ladies and gentleman, the-soon-to-be-mother, Charlie Novak!"

"Just because I'm going to be a mother does not mean I won't do it," Charlie warned.

Cas laughed nervously, "We'll be home on time, Charles. Calm down. I love you."

"I love you too, Cassie. Stay safe and be careful," she voiced.

Cas hung up the phone and mumbled jokingly, "What a mom."

Dean walked passed him, "Who's a mom?"

Cas smirked, "Charlie."

Dean almost dropped the bags of food in his arms. He yelled, "No fucking way! That's great news!"

Cas chuckled, "It is. Oh and Charlie said that if we don't make it home in time for Christmas Eve she will cut off our dicks and feed them to hungry orphans."

Dean stared at him in horror, "Uh, I'll keep that in mind. Oh and on a completely irrelevant note-use the bathroom here because we aren't making anymore stops the rest of the trip."

Cas mocked, while walking inside, "Yep, completely irrelevant."
