Meet The Parent
Cas rocked back and forth on his heels as they stood outside of the airport in Kansas waiting for Dean's mother to arrive. Cas whispered, "I don't think she'll like me."
Dean leaned towards him and held his waist. "She'll love you. There's nothing to worry about," Dean reassured.
A red Cadillac pulled in front of the two and Sam ran out hugging them both. Dean mumbled, "You're crushing us."
Sam then, shoved Dean and yelled, "Where the hell have you been, dude?! You never told me and you've been gone for a week!"
Dean sighed, "Sorry, I-uh-"
Cas cut in, "I was going through a really rough time because of the anniversary of my parents' death."
Sam hugged Cas again, "I am so sorry, Cas."
Cas nodded, "It's okay, really. Let's just go."
Sam got back into the passenger's seat and Dean and Sam slid into the back. Dean's mom turned around to shake Cas' hand. She had a friendly smile playing across her face, "Nice to finally meet you, Cas."
"It's nice to meet you too, Mrs. Winchester."
Both Sam and Dean's eyes widened at Cas because he shouldn't have said that due to the fact "Mr. Winchester" beat their mother. She definitely didn't use the last name. Her smile slowly faded. She corrected him, "You can call me Miss Mary."
Cas nodded, "Yes, Miss Mary."
She smiled again, "Let's go home, my baby is home!"
Dean stared out the window and held Cas' hand tightly. They drove past a creek and Dean flinched slightly at the sight. He looked away. Cas noticed his behavior and furrowed his eyebrows at him. The car ride was silent until Mary finally put in a CD. It was The Beatles' Red Album. She sang along quietly to Love Me Do. Then, Sam and Dean joined in. Cas was amused by the three singing together and smiled.
Soon, they arrived at a light green two-story home. As they exited the car Mary said to Cas, "I hope you like The Beatles. I play their albums constantly on my record player."
Cas smiled, "I love The Beatles."
Sam scoffed, "Then, you'll fit in just fine."
Dean and Cas carried their bags inside and dropped them by the door for now. Mary came in humming Twist and Shout and yelled from the kitchen, "Who wants some grilled cheeses and tomato soup for lunch?"
Cas, Sam, and Dean all said in unison, "I do!"
Dean told Cas, "Here let's take our bags to my room."
Mary peeked into the living room, "You're sleeping on the couch, right? And Cas will take your bed?"
Dean rolled his eyes, "Mom, he's sleeping in my room and in my bed."
She warned, "Dean-"
"Mom, come on."
She sighed, "Fine. Since he is only staying for a few days until he goes back."
Cas was going to tell her that Dean was coming back with him, but Dean stopped him by taking his hand and pulling him upstairs. He opened the bedroom door with a sign hanging from it that read, "Dean." Across the hallway was "Sam." Cas looked around the room. He commented, "It smells like flowers and lavender all took a huge shit in your room."
Dean laughed, "Mom likes to light candles. It's "calming" I guess."
Cas nodded while looking around. He smiled at the various pictures of him and Dean hanging on the wall. He pulled one off and stared at it. A picture of Cas sleeping. He turned it over and saw the date October 7, 2014. The day Dean left Ohio. Dean wrapped his arms around Cas from behind. Cas said, "I don't remember you having a Polaroid camera?"
Dean kissed his cheek and replied, "Always have. I take it everywhere so I can capture the moment. I know you hate being photographed, so I always made sure you had no idea."
Cas sighed happily in his arms, "I don't know what I would do without you. I love you, Dick Pancake."
Dean sloppily kissed the crook in his neck, "I love you too, my fucking cinnamon apple."
Sam stuck his head into the room, "Hey, guys, wanna have a snowball fight after lunch?"
Dean joked, "What are you five?"
Sam glared at him, "You asked me just last week if I wanted to build a snowman, singing that damn forbidden song."
Cas giggled and Dean shushed him, "Fine, we'll do whatever you want. We're only staying a few days anyways."
Sam's eyes widened, "You're leaving? And you aren't staying for Christmas?! Mom is going to be so upset."
Dean sighed, "I was going to break it to her when we eat lunch."
Sam said, "That reminds me, mom said lunch was done."
Sam ran up to Dean and hugged him. Dean was still holding Cas so it was extremely awkward. Sam sighed, "Dean, I don't want you to leave..."
Dean turned around and hugged him back. He patted him on the back. "I'm sorry that you can't come with us, buddy."
"Dude, you can't just do this to us during Christmastime! I didn't see you for a year! Then, you come back for only two months and leave again!"
"Sammy-"
Sam ran out of the room. Cas held Dean's hand and said, "That could've gone a million times better. I'm sorry, baby."
