Chapter 6
"Baymax!" Hiro caught up to the robot, grabbing his huge hand and dragging him to the curb. "Where were you-" He was cut off as Baymax pushed him harshly to the ground, and continued the way he was heading.
"Baymax?" You asked, worried. He ignored you, looking straight ahead. Hiro chased him again, jumping on his back.
"Baymax! Come on!" The white robot started thrashing around, trying in vain to shake Hiro off. Then, he relaxed. Hiro's ragged breathing slowed a little, but his eyes were wide with fear. "What's gotten into you buddy?" He asked, patting his head.
"Hello Hiro," was all he said, carefully setting Hiro down on the ground. "How did I get here?" Hiro looked confused, but shook it off.
"Come on bud, we're going home now." Baymax let Hiro lead the way back to the house, with you trailing behind. Aunt Cass wasn't home yet, and you and Hiro snuck Baymax up the stairs to his room. You helped Baymax into his charging station, and sat down on Hiro's bed, not looking at him.
"What just happened?" You asked quietly. Hiro only shrugged, still staring at Baymax as he powered down.
"I don't know, but he wasn't acting like himself at all." You nodded. Suddenly, Hiro's eyes lit up. He dashed over to Baymax, and pushed open his chip cartridge. It slid open, revealing his little health care chip. The light died from Hiro's eyes, and he pushed it back in, coming back to sit down next to you again.
"No one tampered with it?" You asked him. He solemnly shook his head, looking at his hands. "Hey." You wrapped an arm around him in a sideways hug. "I'm sure we'll figure it out." He looked up at you, and gave you a little half smile.
"Thanks (Y/N)." You released him, and looked around, not knowing what else to say. Hiro got up, and set his backpack on his nightstand, zipping it up the rest of the way. Just before it closed, you saw a glint of purple.
"Hiro? What's that?" You asked, standing up. Hiro, looking alarmed, shoved the thing the rest of the way in his bag, and stood in front of it, blocking your view.
"W-what's what?" He stuttered, scratching his head. "I don't know what you're talking about. Hey! Want to go watch a movie?" You stood up, and stomped over to him, shoving him onto his bed and snatching up his backpack. You unzipped it, and took out the purple object. It was a purpled and red striped helmet. Hiro grabbed it from you, holding it close to him.
"What's that for Hiro?" You asked him again, crossing your arms. He sighed.
"I guess there's no hiding it from you anymore. You really want to know?" You nodded eagerly. He took a deep breath. "I'm a super hero." You took one look at his completely serious face, and burst into laughter.
"Are you serious?" You said between gasps. He glared at you, putting the helmet back and shoving his bag under his bed.
"Yes." You stopped laughing.
"I don't understand." He didn't look like he was joking, but he sounded like a little kid. "A superhero? I hate to break it to you Hiro, hut they aren't real." He smiled.
"I don't have super powers or anything, but I have Baymax."
"Baymax is a superhero too? Like, you have a suit and everything?" He nodded.
"And the gang is kind of in on it too..."
"What?" You sat down. "I feel so left out. Hiro, why didn't you tell me?"
"I don't know... I just didn't want you to get hurt..." You sighed.
"Come on Hiro! I'm almost as smart as you! Why can't I come with you guys? Risking your lives like that? Do you know how long I've waited for something like this? Something interesting to happen?" He stared at you, and then reached into his pocket, bringing out his phone. Looking through some photos, he brought one up, and showed it to you. It was the gang, all dressed up in colorful armor, smiling at the camera. "Whoa," you breathed.
"I suppose I owe it to you now huh?"
"What?"
"Would you like to join us next time?" Your heart stopped.
"Are you serious?"
"Of course, but you're going to need some armor first..."
