Chapter 12

"Hiro?" You knocked on his bedroom door. When there was no reply, you pushed it open and walked inside. "Hiro Hamada, you've been in here sulking long enough!" You spotted Hiro sitting in his beanbag chair, staring drearily out the window opposite him.
"(Y/N)..." was all he said, not turning around. "Can I help you?" He was still wearing the same cloths he had put on three days ago, and lord knows how long it's been since his last shower.
"Hiro, you need to get outside! Come on, all your friends are worried about you!" When Hiro didn't answer, you stomped over to him, blocking his view of the window. His eyes looked dull, and his hair was even messier than usual. You reached down and grabbed his arm, trying with all your might to pull him to his feet, but he was heavier than you had accounted for, and you dropped his arm with a loud sigh. "Hiro, I thought you were over this." You crouched down in front of him, your face level with his. "I know it hurts, but that is exactly what this guy wanted. Tadashi would want you to get over it, and move on with your life already!" Hiro's brown eyes bore into you, his face pained.
"I know (Y/N), but... I just miss him so much." Your eyes watered a bit at the sight of Hiro looking so sad, so vulnerable.
"It does Hiro, it hurts a lot. But, you find ways to move on, for Tadashi." His eyes finally met yours, and he nodded a bit. "I loved him, and I never got the chance to tell him..." You sat down next to your friend, and enveloped him in a hug.
"I know..." You wiped your eyes, pulling away.
"(Y/N)... I'm so sorry. Back there, I was completely useless." Your eyes widened.
        "Hiro! It wasn't your fault!"
"You, or one of the others could have gotten hurt... I'm so sorry." He looked at you, and have you a cute, little half smile. "It won't happen again, I promise!" You gave him one more quick hug, before getting up again.
"You want to come downstairs? Aunt Cass has just opened the café!"
"Actually, there's something I need to do." Hiro stood up shakily.
"Go take a shower first," you ordered, glaring at him. "You smell terrible." Hiro chuckled.
"You sound like aunt Cass." But, he slipped off his sweatshirt, and walked into the bathroom. You smiled to yourself, and walked back down the stairs, entering the café taking an open seat by the window.
"How's Hiro?" Cass walked up behind you, making you jump slightly.
"Oh, he's taking a shower right now, but he should be down shortly." Cass looked slightly surprised.
"Really? That's great!" She exclaimed, clapping her hands. "I wish you had been here when Tadashi passed away. You would have done him some good." You smiled, returning your gaze to the open window, closing your eyes as you soaked in the sunlight. The days were getting longer and warmer, and soon the bitter cold would be passed. You loved summer, when the days were longer, and the evenings were warm and peaceful. This would be your first summer here in a long time, and you sighed, wondering if it would be anything like the quiet summers at your old house. Probably not, considering you were just attacked by a scary man who tried to kill you, and the giant, white robot that lived in Hiro's bedroom. You just chuckled to yourself, smiling happily.
"(Y/N)!" You turned around, seeing Hiro walking down the staircase. He sat down next to you. "Hey." His hair was still damp, and he zipped up his blue sweatshirt.
"Hey. You going to that... thing you had now?"
"Yeah." You both stood up, and walked to the door.
"I'll be back in an hour or so." He began to walk away, but you stopped him.
"Hiro..." You trailed off, looking at him. Then you squeezed your eyes shut, leaning forward until your lips met his cheek. You pulled back, your face bright red. Hiro's face turned red as well, and he smiled a toothy grin at you, before nodding, and walking out the door.
