Chapter Seven: Mother's Music

"Try to always stay positive, even at the darkest of times because your optimistic attitude impacts several people."

"Ron! RON!" the familiar voice of Ron's wife stopped the burst of laughter he was sharing with his sister. He put a finger to his lips and Ginny rolled her eyes.

"Only you can hear me, silly!" She chided as Ron glared at her before standing up. Hermione was approaching him, looking frantic.

"Is everything okay?" Ron asked.

"Normally, I would not have asked for your help but I need it now, Ron. Harry dropped James and Albus home as he is going to the Ministry. I am currently working on some important notes and Al is crying since forever! I tried everything I can! I checked his nappy, tried feeding him, tried lulling him to sleep but nothing worked! I am quite surprised that you did not hear him. James is asleep since Harry dropped him and Rose starts crying if she sees her cousin cry! Can you take care of one of them, Ron?" Hermione spoke So quickly that she was breathing hard when she asked the question. Ron nodded vigorously. He looked at Ginny.

"Al, please?" Ginny said. He looked back at Hermione who had just asked him something.

"Pardon, Hermione?"

"I asked if you want to take care of Rose."

"Oh, I think I will just take care of Albus since he is err disturbing you, yeah?" Ron asked. Ginny beamed at him and he did his best to avoid her eyes. Hermione nodded and led him inside. He picked his crying nephew in his arms and chanced a look at his godson. James lay on the couch, looking worn out. His eyebrows were furrowed together and Ron could see faded tear stains on his cheek. Ron slowly walked over to the couch and ruffled James' hair slightly, so as to not wake him up. He then proceeded to walk out to the car. Hermione shot him a questioning look. He answered it with a shrug and walked out, carrying his wailing nephew.  Ginny was anxiously looking through the window. Ron approached the car and she hastily opened the door, allowing him to sit inside. As soon as he was was seated, she extended her arms towards him. Ron was no stuck in a dilemma. What if Albus passes right through Ginny's hands and falls?

"Are you sure?" Ron asked, trying to hold his flailing nephew. Ginny nodded. He lowered Baby Albus so that he was barely an inch away from the cushion of the seat. Ginny positioned her hands below his and Ron gently tried to pass Albus. However, as he had suspected, Albus passed right though Ginny's awaiting hands and hit the soft cushion with a small thud. This caused even louder uproars from the baby. Sweat drenched Ron's face as he thought of ways to console both the mother and the son.

"Ginny, didn't you tell that only I can feel you? Maybe that's why you couldn't touch Al," Ron tried. Ginny sighed and mumbled something that Ron could not hear. He decided not to press the matter. "Do you know why he is crying? Seems like he's been the same since Harry dropped him by."

Ginny looked thoughtful for a second before she spoke up. "Ron, don't fear," that was all the warning she gave before she closed her eyes. Ron was startled when a soft music sounded throughout the Ford Angelia.

"The stars, they dance, they sing, they twinkle,
You, my baby, enter the world of fun;
Let your dreams take you to lands of high,
where birds coo and horses neigh;
where fairies sparkle and witches cackle;
That is the only world wherein you can walk,
For you are too young to tell and talk,
the tales of the dream cloud,
to me in a clear voice of loud.
Mumma waits, my baby,
For you to call her with that tiny,
mouth which pronounces her name as Geegy.
Sleep tight, sweetheart,
Enter the sweet world of candy-filled cart,
Sleep tight, love;
Enter the dream world, love."

The song was sung in a melodious voice, accompanied by gentle music. Ron felt himself drifting off to sleep, remembering the several lullabies his mother used to sing for him. He would have fallen asleep if it wasn't for Albus' soft snores. Ron blinked his eyes open and looked at the baby which was lying on it's belly, fast asleep. He looked at Ginny with widened eyes just as the music stopped and she opened her eyes.

"Blimey, Ginny! What the ruddy hell was that about?" He asked. Ginny put a finger to her lips.

"Shush, Ron! Al just fell asleep!" She whisper-shouted. Ron mentally face palmed them muttered a incoherent sorry. "You fell asleep, didn't you, brother?" Ginny asked in a teasing whisper. Ron snorted then immediately sobered as he saw Ginny's finger move up to her lips again. She signaled for him to get out of the car. Ron nodded and did as was told. When he got out, he saw a shadow blocking the burning sunlight which should have normally fallen on him. He put a hand to his forehead and squinted his eyes to find a grinning Ginny on top of the car's roof. Ron widened his eyes then grinned back and climbed up just as Ginny motioned him to do so. He sat on the roof, beside her, under the scorching sun.

"I think I should drive the car to a shade," Ron said.

"And wake Al up? No, thanks."

"Right. How did the car sing?" Ron asked, feeling silly.

"Radio, of course, silly," Ginny retorted.

"I mean how did the radio turn it self on?" Ron asked.

"It didn't. I controlled it."

"How?"

"I don't know, Ron," Ginny replied. "But today morning, I found that I can control this car. You know, turn the engine on, the radio, honk the horn, open the doors. . ."

"Brilliant, but scary," Ron echoed. Ginny chuckled. A sudden gasp startled the siblings and they turned around. Hermione stood there, her hands on her hips. Her eyebrows were raised and she was in a comical way, glaring at Ron. "Another brilliant but scary witch arrives," Ron mumbled slowly so that only Ginny would hear him. She laughed and he was about to retort when Hermione spoke up.

"Sorry, Ron, I didn't quite catch that," she said.

"Nothing, Hermione. Did Jamie wake up?" Ron asked, changing the topic. Hermione sighed.

"No, I am actually here to talk to you about it. I need to go in to the ministry-" she started but Ron cut her off mid-sentence.

"What for?! Hermione, you have been given leave!" Ron exclaimed.

"But I don't need that, Ron! When Harry can work, why can't I?" She asked. Ron then realized that Ginny told him that Harry had gone to the Ministry.

"Why has Harry gone?" He asked Hermione. Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw Ginny narrow her eyes and nod her head. Hermione blew out a breath.

"He has work."

"I know he does but he was given holiday too!" Ron protested.

"Yes but. . . Understand, Ron! You are grown up! Harry had to distract himself from. . . the events of the past and work is the only way!" Hermione protested back. Ron snorted.

"He could have taken care of the kids. That would have been a better distraction."

"Speaking of kids, I am going to drop Rose and Albus at Angie's. However, she would not be able to manage James too what with little Fred. They cause havoc together. That's why I am leaving James here. Take care of him, okay?" Hermione asked. Ron nodded, although a frown creased his forehead. "Where is Albus?" Hermione asked.

"Asleep on the back seat," Ron answered. Hermione looked shocked.

"How did you lull him to sleep?" She asked, looking indignant. Ron shrugged, hoping to escape that question. "Ron?" Hermione pressed and he chanced a look at Ginny, who shrugged. He cleared his throat.

"Don't know really. I just turned the radio on and Albus tell asleep. Maybe he needed a lullaby to fall asleep."

The shock still did not leave Hermione's face although she nodded. She gently opened the back door and picked a snoring Albus up. She nodded to him and he nodded back. With that done, she left towards their house. Ron immediately looked at his sister who was smiling. He did not expect her to be smiling.

"Sis? Are you fine?" He asked, not caring to hide the worry in his voice. Ginny turned to him.

"Yes, Ron. Why do you ask?" She asked.

"I thought you would make a fuss with Albus gone," Ron answered. "Maybe you would be sad or worried."

"I'm not worried, Ron. A worried mother always thinks that her child can never hold up on his own. I'm not sad, either because a sad mother only spreads the sadness. Unknown to her, her kids understand their mother's melancholy and they in turn, become less lively," Ginny answered. Ron nodded. He was never going to understand his sister completely. Ginny chuckled, probably sensing his confused emotions. "Why do you think Al cried?" she asked.

"Don't know really," Ron echoed his previous statement.

"Because, Ron, he sensed the atmosphere around him filled with unwanted melancholy and tension. First at the Burrow, then Harry and now here. He could not get the much needed sleep due to this. He probably sensed his father being tensed for God knows what reason and he started wailing. This has already happened. When I scold Harry for throwing his socks somewhere in the house in anger, or scold Jamie for irresponsible behavior, Al starts crying. He does so because he sensed the tension apparently radiating from me but if I sing, he falls asleep. Since he will not be able to hear me, I had to use the radio as a means of singing," Ginny explained. Ron nodded, trying to comprehend the piece of information given to him. Ginny chuckled again but her expression turned serious soon after. "We need to go."

"Where?" Ron asked, confused.

"To the Ministry. To Harry. I sense it," Ginny said, her serious expression turning even more dark, "I sense his high range of emotions to kill."

That's where I end it. Originally I had thought to incorporate that into the chapter as well but it would turn out to be too long. I hope you liked this chapter.

It is a fact that babies can sense the tension in the atmosphere near them. So I used that tiny tidbit of fact to this chapter.

Thank you for reading!
