Chidi suddenly open her eyes,she looked around and found herself in unfamiliar room,she squeeze her eyes shut trying to remember what happened and how she landed here. Her brain slowly connected the dots and she quickly sat up. She stood up from the bed leaving the room while slightly yawning. She went to the sitting room smelling a delicious aroma,she look around and walk towards the kitchen. She met David in the kitchen preparing breakfast.

David who sensed someone was watching him turn around to find Chidi watching him,he smiled sheepishly scratching the back of his head

"Good morning"he greets and saw Chidi swallow

"Good morning,why didn't you wake me up?"Chidi asked and he shrugged

"You were deeply sleeping,I didn't want to take that away from you"David said and Chidi nodded turning around

"I will go get ready before I leave"Chidi says while walking away

"Wait!"David called and she halted her steps "you should eat first. I'm sure by the time you get home today it will be too late to eat before going to work and it's not good to work on an empty stomach"David said and silence reigned,David thought Chidi didn't hear what he said,he open his mouth to repeat what he said but Chidi beat him to it

"Okay"She replied with a small voice "You got spare toothbrush?"She asked this time aloud. David smiled widely and jog towards her carefully taking a safe distance away from her

"Yes,lemme show it to you"David said and walk ahead,Chidi followed and they went inside the bathroom were David handed her a new toothbrush. Chidi gave him a graceful smile,David turn to walk away and his body mistakenly brushed Chidi's back. He halted immediately waiting for her to shout or flinch but nothing happened,he slowly look at her and saw her eyes squeeze shut while breathing heavily. David left the bathroom immediately.

Chidi slowly open her eyes and look around,she saw David wasn't anywhere close to her. She placed her hand on her chest, she's supposed to feel disgusted by his body touching her but she felt nothing like that. It felt okay,it felt safe and she didn't like that a bit. It's an alien feeling to her.

She quickly take toothpaste putting enough in the brush before she started brushing her teeth,she finished brushing and had her bath. She came out of the bathroom to meet a new pair of jogger and a shirt on the bed waiting for her. She took it and wore it enveloped in a manly scent. She's supposed to hate it but she didn't.

She left the room and met David in the dining room setting the breakfast

"I have sent your cloth to the dry cleaner,I thought you should wear this to your apartment and I will return the clothes later"David said and Chidi nodded taking a seat. David served her tea and bread and egg sauce. She gave him a grateful smile and started eating her food,David went to sit across her eating his food too while his eyes was on Chidi, Chidi felt his eyes on her and decided not to lift her head up until she finish her breakfast

"Let me get dress and I will drop you home"David said standing up

"You shouldn't bother"Chidi said

"Please let me do this,I will be sure you're safely at home"David plead and Chidi nodded. David went inside his room immediately changing into a dark blue jeans trouser and a button up t-shirt. He left the first three buttons unbuttoned,he rolled the sleeve up, combing his long and styled hair. He sprayed his perfume on his body taking his phone before leaving his room.

He came to the sitting room and didn't see Chidi,he suddenly heard sounds and went to the kitchen to meet Chidi finishing up what she was doing. She was washing the plates they use to eat breakfast.

"You shouldn't have bothered"David said startling Chidi

"It's fine"Chidi said. She left the kitchen and went to take her bag, they left the house entering David's car. David took her to her apartment, the car came to a stop.

"Thank you"Chidi said trying to come out of the car but David stopped her by holding her hand, David took his hand away immediately

"Can you spare me a minute?"David asked and Chidi turn to look at him

"What is it?"she asked

"Can you please give me a chance to be your friend please"David asked

"I already told you,I don't make friends with males"Chidi replied looking away

"Please? You don't even know me,you should at least give me a chance. You should at least see that I'm trying"David said and Chidi swallowed

"Then just give up. I don't think I'm changing my mind any time soon"Chidi said and David felt pain in his chest,her blatant rejection really hurt him

"Please let's make a deal. Just give me a month to prove myself to you, I'm a good person if you still don't want to be my friend then you can tell me and I will never disturb you ever again"David says

"What if I say no"Chidi asked

"I will keep on disturbing you till you get tired and agree to give me a chance"David said and Chidi sighed

"I don't know!"she said frustratedly

"I will give you time to think about it,a week just a week please"David said sounding like he's about to cry

"Okay"Chidi replied with a small voice. Silence reigned in the car with David's eyes on Chidi carefully watching her, Chidi cracked her throat trying to escape from the awkwardness

"I will return the jogger and t-shirt"Chidi suddenly said

"You shouldn't bother"David said

"No I will return it"Chidi said before opening the car door "thank you for bringing me back home" she added before walking away.

David sighed as he watched her walk inside the house,he will do anything to win her heart. He can't believe in a short period he can be head over heels for a lady like this and he is not ready to give up on his chase.

"How are you feeling right now?"Nene asked while Chidi sniff before smiling

"I feel a lot better"Chidi replied

"Okay babe,I will be heading to work. I'm late"Nene said smiling at Chidi "make sure you get ready quick and go to work"

"I will"Chidi replied before Nene walk out of the house.

Nene took a cab that took her to the company,she paid the cab man and look at the giant building before her. She sigh rubbing her face before stepping inside. She saw the receptionist and just waved at her rushing inside the building. She knows she's late and only prays she's there before Jamie

"She quickly open the door to the office trying to rush into her own office when a voice stopped her

"Are you just coming?"she heard Jamie's voice and squeeze her eyes shut slowly turning around

"Jamie...."she started but Jamie cut her short

"It's Mr Maleek for you,if you can't acknowledge me with my dad's name then you can call me Mr Jami. You have no right to call me by my nick name Jamie"Jamie said and Nene tried maintaining a strong front

"I'm sorry Mr Maleek"Nene corrected herself

"Good!"Jamie said giving her a once over,he instantly loved the way she's dressed. He loves the fact that Nene always try to keep her modesty then he remembered what happened years ago and murmured 'pretender' "is it the time you're supposed to come to work?!"Jamie asked and Nene visibly winced at his loud voice

"I'm sorry sir, something came up"Nene said and Jamie snorted

"Just your second day and you're already late,keep this up and you will found yourself loosing your work. You should better know I'm not going easy on you again"Jamie said and Nene nodded trying to keep her bitterness at bay

"I'm sorry Sir. I will try to come to work as early as possible"Nene said and the door suddenly opened revealing Zully. Did Nene's bitterness suddenly go higher? She saw Zully slowly approaching Jamie while her eyes on her slightly smirking

"Good morning my love"Zully said mostly emphasizing on the my love

"Good morning"Jamie said and Nene saw Zully leaning over kissing Jamie. She turn immediately heading to her office,she sat down on her chair focusing her gaze on her laptop trying to will her mind to unsee what she just saw. Her heart clenched breaking into pieces,she can't believe there's still an atom of feeling left in her for Jamie. She suddenly wiped away a lone tear focusing on her laptop

"Miss Tijani!"she heard her name through the intercom

"Yes sir"she replied.

"Come here"Jamie ordered and she stood up leaving her office over to Jamie's

"You called for me Mr Maleek"Nene says

"Yes,I want you to give the files to the human resources department and get me a coffee before coming. There's this cafeteria near to the Company,you can get it there and please no sugar"Jamie said and Nene collected the files from him

"Ok sir"she said trying to force a fake smile

"Before you go Miss Tijani,give this to Miss Salih"Jamie said handing her an envelope,she got confused who is Miss
Salih before her brain slowly connected the dots. Salih Zuleikha her once upon a time best friend

"Ok sir"she replied collecting the envelope walking away from the office while she felt Jamie's eyes on her throughout her walk from the office.

She stepped out of the office closing the door behind her and sighed. She feels so tired and drained in less than thirty minutes she came to work. She headed to Zully's office slowly knocking on the door

"Come in!"she heard her say and slowly pushed the door entering inside

"Good morning Miss Salih,Mr Maleek asked me to deliver this to you"Nene said trying to sound professional. Zully look at her smirking

"I know you must saw how we kissed. Jamie is a good kisser seriously I know you can relate but let me tell you he got better over the years"Zully suddenly said while Nene just watched her not giving her emotions away

"What you do with him is non of my business,Jamie is my past and he will continue to be. Please the envelope"Nene said stretching the envelope to Zully who only bursted into laughter collecting it from Nene

"I hope you always remember he is your past"Zully spat venomously

"You shouldn't have so much insecurities about your relationship Zuleikha. It's so pathetic"Nene said smiling before walking out of the office. She closed the door behind her and her facade fell. She almost bursted into cries but she controlled herself,second day of working for Jamie is already proving how hard it going to be for her.

She walk over to the human resources department to submit the file Jamie gave to her,she saw the assistant head of the department and gave it to her. She turn to leave so that she can get Jamie's coffee when she mistakenly hits someone

"Again!"she winced

"I'm sorry"the intruder said. The voice sounds so familiar and Nene look up only to scowl

"Hakeem!"she said frowning and turn to leave. Hakeem grabbed her hand immediately

"Nene! It's been long I saw you, I'm happy to see you"Hakeem said and Nene rolled her eyes

"I wish I can say thesame"Nene said and Hakeem chuckled

"I'm not that bad seriously"Hakeem said

"I have work to do"Nene said

"Let's talk please,just spare me a minute"Hakeem said and Nene look at him contemplating
