"FUCK." ALEX MUTTERS AS SHE once again pricks her fingers with the needle in her hand, sucking the blood away she ignore the pain while she puts the finishing touches on her halloween costume.

bump. bump. ba-bump.

alex looks up from her dress, seeing her little sister in her doorway, she smiles. "hey max, your costumes already finished come here." she ushers max to come sit next to her on her bed. "still don't know why you insisted on making our costumes yourself." max says as she sits down, watching her older sister as she takes out the michael myers jumpsuit.

"because, little one, making costumes yourself is rewarding. also personally i think mine look better than store bought." alex boasts holding up the jumpsuit for max to take. "i guess they look alright, who are you going as again?" max asks while holding the jumpsuit, now looking at the black floor length dress that her sister was working on before she walked in.

"morticia addams, she's from this old tv show i found. she's really cool. how do i look?" alex holds the dress to her body, spinning around as to show max all the angles, max just giggles at her sisters antics.

they both look at alex's door when they hear someone clear their throat. it's billy, leaning against the door frame with a cigarette in his hand. "alex you coming to that party tonight?" he asks taking a drag from his cigarette. "can't. i'm going trick or treating with max remember?"

"you can go. i'll be fine by myself." max quickly intervenes, but honestly she just doesn't want the stalker boys to see her sister. they'll never leave her alone then. alex's brows furrow, max always preferred it when she went along. she opens her mouth to speak but billy is faster. "great, we'll go at the same time then. now hurry the fuck up we have to go to school." and then he leaves, the scent of his cigarette lingering.

alex looks over at max, one hand cupping her cheek while the other hand holds onto her dress. "you sure you'll be fine on your own?"

"i'm strong remember? besides maybe then you'll make some actual friends instead of hanging with your little sister all the time."

"you little-" alex throws her dress to the side, putting max into a headlock and giving her a noogie as the younger one squeals.

LIKE ALWAYS ALEX WAS slumped down into her seat, pencil tapping against her book repeatedly as she stared out of the window. the slamming of a chair against the floor didn't startle her but still she looked over to see what had happened.

nothing had happened, other that aaron, setting his own chair next to hers and sitting on it.

"hey alex." aaron grins.

alex rolls her eyes and looks the other way.

"oh come on, i'm just trying to befriend the new girl. you don't know anyone else in this town." aaron once again works his way into alex's line of sight and she can feel her temper rising and right before she opens her mouth to say something a male voice steps in.

"leave her alone warner, she obviously doesn't wanna talk to you." alex looks over, it's the guy who sits next to her, john, johnny, oh fuck what was his name again. ah, jonathan, that was it.

"didn't realise i was talking to you jonathan, don't you have people to photograph?" aaron shoots jonathan a smile laced with malice but it doesn't scare jonathan, he just looks at the blonde with a bored look. "don't you have better things to do than bother people who want nothing to do with you?"

"oh like you with nancy?"

"nancy and i are friends, something you don't have."

the two guys stare at each other, both look like they're about the pounce on the other and alex prays that the teacher will walk in soon, she does not have the energy to stop a fight after dealing with her step father.

thankfully her prayers are answered and their teacher walks into the classroom and barks at aaron to go to his assigned seat which he reluctantly does. "thanks. for your help." alex whispers to the boy next to her. he curtly nods. "it's fine, he's an asshole. you're better off without him."

and then the class goes on without aaron visiting alex again, but that doesn't stop the boy from staring at her.

THE SECOND SCHOOL IS FINISHED alex makes a beeline to billy's car, leaning against the hood waiting for her siblings. billy gets to her first and they wait for max together. "she's late again." billy says, he's obviously annoyed alex can hear it. "leave her be. she probably has to do something."

"i don't care, i told her to come here when school ended not later."

"and i'm telling you. leave. her. be." alex stands in front of billy, accentuating every word with a jab to his chest. alex stares into his eyes as she threatens him and he breaks their eye contact first as he hears max's skateboard, the girl looks at her siblings confused. "what's going on?"

"nothing. don't be late again or you're skating home." billy points at max before going to sit down in the drivers seat.

alex turns around, a sweet smile on her face as she walks towards max. "hey strong girl." alex wraps her arm around max's shoulder. "how was school."

"i got invited to go trick or treating."

"you said yes?"

"no. but i didn't say no either."

"that's my girl." alex holds her hand up for a fist bump, which max reluctantly gives. the sisters are interrupted as billy honks his car horn. "MOVE YOUR ASSES. I WANNA GO HOME!"

the sisters roll their eyes but still get into the car and then they're speeding off.

with music blasting the siblings are on their way home. billy breaks the silence that seemed to always haunt the siblings before, inevitably, someone said something and then a argument would ensue. "god, this place is such a shithole."

"it's not that bad." max pipes up from the backseat, alex just continues to watch as they zoom past the trees outside.

"no?" billy rolls down the windows of the car, fresh air filling it. both the girls looks visibly upset, alex more so since she was leaning against the window. billy inhales deeply and fakes a moan of delight. "you smell that max? that's actually shit. cow shit." he says holding his nose closed with his fingers.

"watch the road billy." alex finally speaks up, her tone obviously annoyed but both siblings ignore her. "i don't see any cows." max counters. "clearly, you haven't met the high-school girls."

alex groans at her brother's sexist remark.

"so what, you like it here now?" billy continues, looking at max who responds with a curt no. "then why are you defending it?"

"i'm not."

"sure sounds like it."

"it's just we're stuck here, so."

"you're right. we're stuck here. and whose fault is that?" billy looks back at max who softly mumbles yours, that really seemed to agitate him. "what'd you say?"

"nothing billy. watch the road and shut up, both of you." alex snaps, tired of this back and forth. "no no. she said it was my fault didn't she?"

"no. i didn't."

"you know whose fault it is max. say it. max. say it. SAY IT." billy screams towards the young girl and alex has to hold herself back from punching him, not wanting to put max in danger since they are in a moving car.

billy just steps harder onto the gas, the car going past the speed limit as he drums on his wheel to the beat. "billy, you idiot, slow down. you're gonna get us killed." alex grits not yet noticing the boys in front biking in front of their car. "billy, slow down." max repeats after her. "what max? these your new hick friends?" billy looks towards the boys seemingly not caring if he'd hit them.

"why the fuck does that matter they're little boys. slow the fuck down."

"no! i don't know them." the sisters say at the same time, but billy does not care. "if she doesn't know them she wont mind if i hit them. what do you say huh? get double the points if i hit them all in one go?"

"billy stop it it's not funny." max says and billy looks at her bored with no intention of stopping. "billy. slow down before i make you." alex grabs onto billy's jacket sneering at the boy. "make me? how are you gonna do that alex." he grins. "i can also just throw us off the road maybe you'd like that."

while the older two are arguing max looks worried as her, not, friends get closer and closer to the car. the boys seem to notice the car as well and start biking faster. "billy, come on, stop it. it's not funny. stop!"

looking back in front of her alex gasps as she sees how close they are to hitting the boys, letting go of billy's jacket she grabs the steering wheel moving it so that they evade the biking boys. "YEAH! that was a close one huh?" billy screams, almost proud of himself.

"you're such a fucking asshole, billy." alex has to hold herself back so that she won't hit him as they continue to speed off as max looks back to the boys who are now in the berms.

THE SECOND ALEX AND BILLY are out of the car she pushes him against the walls of their home. "what the fuck is your problem huh? so mad that you can't go to the beach anymore that you try and run over some innocent boys?" she sneers at him while he just looks unimpressed. "get the fuck off of me alexandra."

"shut the fuck up william. you pull that shit again and i'm telling neil."

"you aren't gonna tell him shit."

"oh yeah? watch me hargrove." alex pushes him back one more time, she wouldn't truly tell neil he would probably put the blame on her and billy both but the threat works. she then takes max back into the house. "you okay?" she softly asks the younger girl but she only replies in a nod.

"let's get dressed for halloween yeah? get all of that off of your mind." alex offers with a hopeful smile on her face. "i'd like that." max smiles, following her sister into her room.

putting on girls just wanna have fun by cyndi lauper alex starts getting ready for halloween, putting on her form fitting floor length black dress, with a deep v-neck and long sleeves, then putting on a long black wig. max thinks she looks laughable, but that may just because she's so used to her red hair.

"you look ridiculous." max laughs as she watches her sister put on make-up, alex is pale already but with the make-up she has on she simply looks like a piece of paper. "shush, i'm focusing here." alex throws a blending brush that she's already used over to her sister who dodges it with a squeal.

"okay come here." alex pats the seat that she was in when she was doing her make-up and max complies sitting down on it. alex then puts the michael myers mask onto her sister, smiling at her. "there we go, time to go on a murder spree little one. you sure you want me to go to that party?"

"maybe. i don't know, shouldn't i be going alone, i'm old enough for it."

"you are. it's just, this is the first time i haven't come with." alex softly messes with max's hair thats too long to be concealed by the mask. "okay what if, you come with me until i meet the guys that asked me to come trick or treating with them?"

alex raises a brow. "the ghostbusters that billy almost ran over?"

"maybe."

alex chuckles. "okay, i'll be with you until the ghostbusters come around. shall we go now?"

max nods and walks along with alex to the front door. "MOM, NEIL WE'RE GOING!" alex yells. "OKAY HONEY, STAY SAFE YEAH?" their mother yells back. "OF COURSE MOM, BYE!" alex opens the door and almost walks out of it until billy walks down the stairs. "thought we were gonna go together to the party?"

"i'm going, just later without you." alex immediately walks out of the door together with max not wanting to speak with billy any longer.

ITS ALREADY DARK OUT WHEN the pair spot the four ghostbusters, alex gives max a knowing look and the younger girl pulls her mask down and goes to scare the four boys. alex can hear their screams from her place, she laughs at them before going to meet them herself.

"MAX! you gonna introduce me to your friends?" alex says as she puts her arm around her little sister, smiling at the four. "woah....." the curly headed one breathes. "hello, i'm alexandra, you can call me alex. i'm max's older sister." she says to the boys, giving them a small wave.

"i'm dustin!" the boy who said woah says before pointing to each of his friends. "and that's lucas, mike and will." each of the boys give alex a wave when their name is called.

"well dustin, lucas, mike and will. it's nice to meet you." alex then turns towards her sister. "now that you have your new trick or treating buddies, i'll go to that party yeah? remember to stay save and to save me some candy as well."

max nods and alex smiles in response. "i'll see you at home okay, it was nice to meet you all!" she waves goodbye at her little sister and the four boys before going to the party. "i'm going to marry your sister one day." dustin mutters towards max who stares at him disgustingly. "one, she's way too old for you. two, she doesn't like weirdos."

when alex arrives at the party the first thing she sees is someone pushing people out of the way so he can puke all over the grass and when he notices alex he gives her a smile before leaning over once again. alex grimaces at the sight.

she also sees someone get out of a car, it's dark so she almost can't recognise him but she still tries her shot. "JONATHAN!" she yells trying to get his attention, it works, he looks over at her and gives her a tight lipped smile. alex walks over to the boy. "didn't think i'd see you here, no offence but you don't seem like the type for parties." she says as she walks up to him. he chuckles, she notices him looking over her costume so she decides to give him a show, turning into a circle.

"like my costume?"

"morticia addams. nice choice."

"thank you! made the costume myself, rather proud of it."

"you should be. it- it's amazing." alex smiles, a genuine smile that mostly only her sister gets. "thanks jonathan, wanna get into the party together?" jonathan nods, gesturing alex to go first when he opens the door. the house is filled to the brim with people and they both have to squeeze past others to get in.

"nice costumes." a girl in kiss make-up comments, the pair smile at her. "yeah i'm the guy who hates parties and morticia addams." jonathan gestures to alex who once again smiles at the girl before tapping on jonathan's shoulder. "i'm going to get something to drink, i'll see you later okay?

"yeah, i'll see you later." jonathan then goes back to talking to the kiss girl, samantha apparently since alex can just catch her name before she gets out of ear shot.

right before alex can grab a drink a girl comes over a boy, with amazing hair she might add, hot on her heels. they start arguing over if she can have more to drink, alex wants to step in and tell the guy that if she wants to drink she can but alex knows it's not in her right to do so. instead she just watches like everyone else when the drink spills all over the girl's costume and the pair, probably couple, walk off.

"hello there alexandra." the oh so unpleasant voice of aaron calls out, him and a blonde girl standing next to her now. "didn't you hear jonathan earlier today? i want to be left alone aaron."

"well this time i'm not here to make friends for myself, just here to introduce you to my sister daisy, she's a year younger than us. she desperately needs some friends." aaron softly taps on daisy's shoulder who smiles sweetly at alex.

"hi daisy, can you tell your brother to leave me alone" alex asks the girl who chuckles and nods, aaron scoffs at this. "okay okay i'll go. i notice when i'm not wanted." he grabs a drink and walks away from the girls but not before sending his sister a knowing look and she nods back at him.

the girls chat for a bit before jonathan once again enters her sight and he has the girl from earlier with him, alex waves at them. "hey uhm- i'm going to bring my friend nancy home okay? she's kinda really drunk."

"i can see that, i'll be fine here don't you worry."

"okay i'll uhh- i'll see you at school."

alex nods and then jonathan and nancy are gone and suddenly alex feels like she has to go home too, make sure max is okay. "hey you wanna come over to mine? as a after party?" daisy snaps her out of her thoughts. "what? uhm- no i uhh..." alex tries to come up with an excuse, thankfully she doesn't have to because billy with all his drunken loudness walks in.

"ALEXANDRA! thought you'd never come here." billy walks over to the girls, grabbing a cup and filling it up with punch. "who's this, dear sister?" he nods to daisy. "daisy, little sister from a boy in my class."

"ah. is the ice princess finally making friends?"

"no. i was going home anyway. you better not let our parents see you this drunk." alex says, what she really meant was don't let your dad see you like this. but alex knows better than to say that while other people are around. if she did billy would blow up, and she does not have the energy for that. putting her cup into the trash can close to her she walks towards billy, making him look at her face.

"i'll open up a window open so you can sneak in, but you'll owe me." she stares at him waiting for conformation and when he nods she starts walking. "see you at school daisy."

"yeah.... see you at school." daisy trails off, visibly pissed off that alex ran away. "you're being obvious." aaron leans against the counter the second billy is out of sight. daisy just rolls her eyes at her brother. "you have a better idea? and why are we talking about this where everyone can hear us?"

"i do actually. dads a doctor now, we just accidentally hurt her and boom dad sees the girl he's been wanting to see for years. and because dear sister, every single person in this house except for us, is completely smashed, they won't remember shit."

"that sounds really creepy when you say it out loud. you guys have gym tomorrow right? try it then."

WHEN ALEX GETS HOME MAX her parents are already in bed but max is still watching tv. "waiting for me?" alex asks un purposefully scaring her little sister. "jesus christ warn me next time alex." max frowns but all it does is make alex laugh. "sorry maxie."

"don't call me that."

"okay maxie."

"shut up, shouldn't you go to bed?"

"says the child, i'm allowed to stay up late. not you." alex dodges the pillow that max throws at her, trying not to laugh so loud that their parents wake up. before sitting down alex opens up a window in their living room for billy, she may hate the guy but she doesn't want him to get hit by his father. "what are you doing?" max asks.

"just making sure our dear brother doesn't wake us up when he finally returns home." alex goes to sit next to max, watching the movie that she put on together. "watching halloween as michael? meta."

"shut up." max smiles and the sisters continue the movie in silence.
