Round 33. (English version.)

Iwato Miyauki, also known as Raptor, was staring at the ceiling in a solitary cell in Akibahara with a blank stare. He's in the deepest part of his life. Even though he was the best player since he picked a fight with the Yaguchi and Hidaka, he's been on a dive since then. Besides, Chikuron told the audience that he broke Yaguchi's fingers, which got him here. If he does get out, he's got no choice, because the word of his actions has spread all over the arcades. He didn't want to live anymore. The next day, around five o'clock, after he was bagged, one of the guards approached him. "Your bail's been paid. Get your clothes, maggot, and get the hell out of my sight!" Raptor rose obediently and left in his normal clothes. Who rescued him from here and why? That's the question he had on his mind.

He received the answer to his questions when Jago was waiting for him at the entrance. Raptor stopped before him. "Good day, Raptor. My mistress paid the bail to get rid of the shithole. On the contrary, he wants to ask you something." Raptor showed no sign of gratitude. He looked out of his head with as much disinterest as he was taken to jail. "Silence, consent, as the old saying goes. Your task is simple. You have to burn down the Yaguchi apartment, which you will find at this address at exactly midnight. I've already placed some Molotov cocktails nearby, so you don't have to bother with that either. In return, you get three million yen in cash. In addition to revenge, you can start a new life." Raptor without questioning or hesitation, just like a machine took all the necessary items, and went to the address described. If he had known that the contents were completely fake, there would have been no greater disaster than necessary.

Yaguchi apartment, 11:50. April 10th 1999.

There was no one on the street, and the windows of the nearby houses were dark. Raptor's contours were only illuminated by the light of one of the outdoor lamps. When he entered the apartment, he clearly saw that they were quickly unpacked, as if they were prepared for the plan. He suspected that the two dumplings under the covers weren't actually human. He didn't give a shit, and thought about his life. He grew up an orphan. No one wanted him, so until he turned 16 and got capital from the state, he practically lived like a sewer rat. Besides, he wasn't good at anything but one thing: video games. Since 1993, he has been walking around playing games and winning money from his beaten opponents. Later he entered tournaments, which he won in a row, no matter how big. But deep down, he wanted more and more.He became so unscrupulous that he didn't want to deal with anything else in his life because he didn't have anything other than eighth grade. He found a job in a little grocery store, that he could barely make ends meet, if he hadn't signed up for games and won it in a row, making money. His life was on the tarmac, when he confronted Yaguchi and his friends. Every time he fought them, his defeat just hit another lowpoint. At first, from the Maru Miye arcade, then from all of Shibuya, eventually, all of Japan's arcade were banned forever. If you think that a new life after completing the task will bring you new hopes..that is definitely wrong. Because he can't escape the guilt that caused Yaguchi's finger. True, it was the only way he saw him win the tournament, but the way things were going, he saw him face to face with himself. The only thing certain of death was his only salvation.

The clock on the Raptor's arm rang. It was midnight. He squeezed it out and then took out the Molotov cocktails. He lit them in a row with his lighter and threw them into every possible part of the building. When the gas in the bottle was released, it immediately ignited and began to burn the room to the flames. When he used up the last one at Yaguchi's room, he just got down on his knees and watched the only poster left that was Street Fighter 2 Turbo. Tears fell on his knees. Everyone calls him a monster for his actions. However, if it were, could he cry? Raptor's last memory was the fire alarm before he passed out. Neighbors called the fire department. The fire was quickly extinguished and the paramedics took Raptor out in critical condition. He had very little chance of survival.

The next morning, the front pages of the newspapers featured the burning down of the Yaguchi apartment. Daniel read this before breakfast. "The fire was caused by a short circuit. The only survivor of the incident remained, Iwato Miyauki. Doctors stated at today morning, that he was over the critical condition and could leave the emergency within days." The company was silent when breakfast was delivered. Yaguchi didn't understand that, if Raptor burned down the house, why didn't he escape? Maybe he have guilt for his action in the past? Knew inside that the short circuit could not have caused the fire, because they were here to be maintained this year. After he finished, stand up. "I'm going to visit him at the Central Hospital. I'm on the afternoon anyway." "Isn't it a little early to be questioning him?" ask Daniel. He said, that he was not to go for it. Oono was with him too. On the way out, they heard that Jago was preparing for some kind of competition. After a while, they arrived at the central emergency room, where after talking to the receptionist, they reached Raptor's door. When they opened, they found him in a terrible state. It's like he's living on the surface and picking up anything that's going on in the outside world. It was clear in his eyes that he wanted to die. "Hi, Raptor." Yaguchi greeted. "What do you want?" ask Raptor silently. "I just thought I'd come by and see how you were doing." "Your good heart is useless, transparent, to be precise. I kept throwing insults at you and messing with you and your friends. Besides, I even broke your fingers so you couldn't win, but that didn't work either. Now I'm there that I can't live for my only refuge, the games, because I'm banned from every arcade. I know your real purpose. Break my fingers. Simple desire for revenge, am I right?" Yaguchi just shuddered. not on the assumption, but on Raptor's voice. He felt that he no longer wanted to live. Somehow he wanted to convince him to there was another way for him. "I have no intention of avenging you. I'm just trying to talk you into seeing things differently. Start all over again." "Leave it with your sentimentalism." Raptor laughed, before continue. "Good? Me? I mean, all I've done so far is step on everyone's toes, and especially yours. Plus, I set your apartment on fire." "You knew we'd been gone a long time, and all we left was alibi things. There's good in you, because you wouldn't have done anything to kill me for some harm." Raptor's gaze now drilled into Yaguchi's. "What do you know about me? Nothing. And I will not tell you. As for my future, as soon as they are released from this place, we will never meet. Because, I will kill myself and leave this world here. Isn't that what everybody wants? A pathetic, empty waste will free the land..."

So far he's been able to say, because Oono is got angry and has slapped Raptor in the face. The crash echoed for seconds in Yaguchi's eardrum. To this day, he remembers his girlfriend beating him up countless times, but this was different. Pure and tough, guaranteed to make the kid come to his senses. Raptor wasn't even planning on hitting back, but with his head on Oono, whose eyes told him what she wanted to say. "Listen to Yaguchi, you jerk!" "Do you stop self-pity?!" Yaguchi shouted at him. "Don't play dead swan for us and whine all over the room! Look at you! what happened to your tough act?! You sound like an old man crying about all shit!" Yaguchi was screaming like he was freaking out and gasping. When he calmed down, he continued. "Nobody's perfect, that's a fact. Take me for example. When I was a teenager, I was completely blind. This woman next to me had a crush on me from head to toe, and I realized how important she was to me when she left. And she could have dumped me anytime he wanted, but she didn't. The reason was simple. She saw the opportunity in me, and she knew that once I opened my eyes, I would be beside her to the grave and beyond. What do i want to say? You ask. The answer is simple, I see in you an opportunity for change. Because even though you weren't fair outside of the game, you put everything into it and played fairly. You lost to us, that's a fact, but you can't win in life all the time. What you did to my fingers, I'll tell you one thing. I'm not mad at you, because I see your desperation." Raptor started crying during Yaguchi's monologue. When it was over, he buried his face in his palm. "I'm sorry." he moaning. "I've been a soulless bastard to you. I don't deserve a second chance from you." Oono embraced Raptor and comforted him. It was clear she wasn't mad at the guy at this point. She looked at her boyfriend, indicating. "You can give him the gift, dear." "Yeah, really. We also have a gift for you. This is sent by Daniel so that you are not disconnected from video games while you are here." Then he took off his bag and showed me the gift. It was a Gameboy Color and added twenty games which included the Legend of Zelda Link s Awakening, Pokemon Red, Super Mario Land 3 and Metroid too.Raptor received the gift in gratitude. That's when the door opened and the chief of doctors kicked the visitors out. When they got there, Oono confronted his partner, presumably because of Gameboy Color and games. Yaguchi replied fast, as usual. "It comes from one of the customers, who thought Daniel would never fix it. When he succeeded, it could not be reached, so he remained on his neck. It was just perfect for this occasion." Then she flushed to her boyfriend, because the monologue touching her a little as well. "I was just telling the truth about me and you." Yaguchi smiled at the end. If Oono could have talked, she'd probably say. "I know. that's why I love you."

Fortesque Chateau, 11:00. 12th of April, 1999.

Surprisingly, Liillith hasn't shown her face since Yaguchi confrontation. She probably didn't want to jump to conclusions. But there was still another problem. The day has come for Jago to prove himself. In fact, the Morrisons trial has come about the succession of Interbank. The C. E. O. passed on a company meeting to be held at Fortesque Chateau. Each of the participants has a huge authority over the banking industry. Morrisons and Daniel were waiting in the study for the end of the two-hour meeting. "I hope the one you recommended for you is as good as you, if not better. Because these CEO's are the most sophisticated and even withdraw from one business that is harmful to them." laugh Morrisons coldly. "Do you realize the loss of a single client entails massive blood loss of limb. Then he's gone." "I know, and I'll take the risk. However, Jago has my absolute trust." Daniel wished, and he lit a cigarette with his window open. He was very tense inside. He was worried about what was going on in the conference room. Morrisons, on the other hand, chose a different theme. "Ever since the video game tournament, I've seen these entertainment options quite differently. Tell me, is it as great to play as it is to watch? At least, you must really enjoy it." "That's right. These games are the greatest way to turn reality off and move it to another dimension. Of course, this does not mean that mindless entertainment is all about. You must give your knowledge, your heart and your soul. An exciting world where no matter who you are, what layer you come from. The most important thing is that you can be part of an ever-growing company." Morrisons so far without expression on his face smile tense. "Well. This is how you can approach games. This is not how most people see it..." "Especially not bourgeois, soulless worms like you. They represented an 18th century perception where it didn't matter how one felt. As long as you have all strings all puppet in your hands, everything else is irrelevant. That's why I want to break out this circles. Nothing is sacred to you but money and fame." Then the smile melted from Morrisons face and turned into anger so quickly. Daniel touched on a sensitive point, the truth. "What do you know about business, you insolent brat? There have always been victims, there will be and there will be. There's always been a predator principle. Eat or be eaten! Anyone who wants to contradict this unwritten rule is simply blind and stupid." "Only those, who do not know the consequences of their actions and decisions see it that way. I was a consequence, too. You didn't marry my mother because you loved her. You only needed me for your stupid purposes. If you could see the situation from my point of view for one second, you'd soon know what I'm talking about." Daniel said the last sentence with hissing. Morrisons's face of anger was gone, instead, he turned pale. He lay back on the chair. No further words were spoken between them for the rest of the time. They both went into their thoughts, when the door opened from below.

A minute later Jago came in with an ear-splitting smile. Words immediately flowed from him. "And it's done. Gentlemen! Interbank is now taking it to a new level. I just made a successful deal with Saigawa, and soon I'll be able to sign the contract. Principal Mikami asked me out on a date. She's a very charming and bright young woman with whom we immediately found common voice. The others were amazed at my calculations and my performance. Yeah, I was scared at first, but when the meeting started, I knew what to do." Daniel smiled. "Excellent. I always knew you were perfect for this job. Dad, you know what that means?" "Yeah. Same result as Jago failed the test." said Morrisons with honest smile. "Say what? You said..." "I know, what I said earlier. But that was a bluff, to see your determination." "But why?" Asked Daniel with never ending shock in his face. "After the tournament, I looked upon your console repair business. I've hired some people to question your customers and clients about your service. Also, I looked at your business records. It wasn't surprising at all that they were perfectly happy with you,01 and your business is soaring. From then on, I didn't see the point in sticking to my original idea. Then you would have rebelled forever and replaced yourself with Jago." "Dad. You're surprised me."

Morrisons couldn't hide his honest smile. he just nodded. they started the paperwork. When Morrisons received the money for the divorce, it would no longer have anything to do with his son. At least Daniel thought, because when they were ready, he spoke. "What would you say if we celebrated this with a little video gaming?" "Realy, Mr Morrisons?" asked Jago. "I'm not kidding. I want to try myself some games. Son, would you recommend some games for you Dad?" Daniel didn't want belive his ears, but do it anyway.
