Innocent?

---Error's POV----

I looked at the criminal and narrowed my eyes. "Framed? Is that so hm?"

He winced and nodded, tilting his face up to me. I looked him up and down, not believing him for a second.

"Why should we trust you?" I growled, tightening my strings a bit so that he let out a hiss of pain.

"I-I know this looks bad! And you've probably been told some horrible things about me! But their not true I swear!" He flinched as I glanced at Nightmare, wanting to see what he was thinking on this.

He was glaring at the criminal, his eye narrowed with his tentacles twitching and fidgeting behind him, raised instead of laying passively behind him like usual.

He clearly doesn't trust this so-called 'innocent criminal'. I glanced at the others to see most of them all had the same expression as well.

The oddly coloured criminal had clearly seen we hadn't believed him and started struggling again, resulting in Nightmare slamming a tentacle into the wall, merely centimetres away from the criminals skull, making him freeze instantly and look at Nightmare.

"Wh-What the hell are y-you!?"

Nightmare grinned. "That's not the question being asked here, the real question is who are you, and why should we trust you."

The criminal flinched. "I guess I'm gonna have to tell the whole story then huh?"

We glared at him and he looked down at the floor before sighing.

"Long ago I had this friend...He was amazing and was always there for me. We literally couldn't be separated from each other, we were forever round each others houses and would be playing games or just simply talking. Whatever we did together was fun...until he took it too far...

We were about eighteen and he'd just made friends with this dodgy gang in town. He wanted me too meet them, and obviously I agreed, even though I was a little nervous.

As soon as I saw the gang, I knew my friend had made a mistake, they were the very definition of sketchy and suspicious. My friend either didn't care, or didn't seem to notice because he acted like they were his family or something, introducing me to each of them individually.

They seemed to know I was suspicious so tried to act friendly, I didnt respond though and stayed distant and stubborn. Soon enough they gave up on me and acted like I wasn't there.

My friend was clearly having the time of his life and really enjoyed spending time with these people. But I still knew he'd made a huge now mistake. And my worry was confirmed as they brought in illegal drugs and stuff like alcohol and cigarettes.

At that point I decided to to leave. I don't think any of them even noticed. I stayed distant from my friend after that and we didn't talk at all for about a week, the two of us doing everything possible to stay away from each other.

Then one day I bumped into him on the way home from something and I instantly knew something was wrong. He was shaking badly and had tears running down his face.

I rushed him back to mine and pressed him to tell me what had happened. Those 'friend's' of his had tricked him and were now forcing him into their illegal drug chain because he owed them money. It was clear this was their plan from the beginning and they'd done this before, with much success.

My friends always been a wimp really. Maybe that's why he went with the group, to make him feel stronger. Like you guys, your much more intimidating and powerful if there's a huge group and not just you.

Anyway, they were forcing him to help them and he was terrified. But I didn't know what I could do to help so I just told him to earn the money as fast as possible.

Then I made a mistake. I was walking down an alleyway to take a shortcut so I could get home when I stumbled upon the gangs drugs post, all of them layed out in a neat row, as if they were displaying them.

I didn't touch them of course but then again I was at the table, and that's all the police ever want to know. I was spotted by someone and they'd dragged the police down.

They caught me, not listening to me screaming that I was innocent. They just ignored me and bundled me into their car and drove off.

And what really broke me was when I glanced out the back window, I saw my friend walk out of the darkness and watch as the police drove me away. The gang all stepped out around him and the last I saw of my friend was them all patting him on the back and cheering, congratulating him.

They'd set the whole thing up.

For me.

I had been at that party and seen what they did, so obviously I was a threat. A threat they needed to get rid of...

Before I was questioned I managed to break free and run for it, escaping to another town. But it seems my friends group always follows, because as soon as I get there, rumours start about a strange skeleton selling drugs in the streets and I have to run again.

I've only been here in Craitown for two weeks. And already I'm the only thing people are talking about... "

He stopped talking and I raised an 'eyebrow', glancing at the others. His story did seem pretty believable and far too thought out to be made up on the spot. But then again, he could have told this story to many people before in an attempt to make them let him go.

"And we should believe your story why...?" I asked, still not convinced.

He looked at the floor. "I didn't expect you to...It felt good to get that all out though...I needed that..."

I glared at him then glanced at the others. Nightmare shook his head at me and and Reaper did the same, the two of them clearly not convinced.

Geno suddenly stepped away from Reaper and walked purposefully over to the criminal and stopped in front of him.

"What was the name of your friend?" He growled.

The criminal looked up at him, a confused and panicked expression on his face. "Wh- Wha...Why?"

"So you were best friends for life and your struggling to think of a name for him hm?"

I glanced at Geno. Whats he getting at?

"Go on tell us. What was your friends name?"

The criminal froze up and looked around frantically. "Umm, he was called, uh..."

Geno smirked. "Your a good liar, I might have even believed you if you'd have given your 'best friend in the whole world' an actual name."

My eyes widened. Geno had a point.

"That was all a lie wasn't it?" Geno growled. "Wasn't it!?"

The criminal looked up at him and smirked. "That's for you to figure out."

Then without warning my strings snapped and he booked it, running for the wall at the end of the alleyway. Nightmare lunged for him but the criminal simply dived out of the way and jumped on one of the abandoned bins by the wall, kicking it over as he jumped and vaulted on top of the wall.

I growled and glared at him. He laughed and saluted us. "You kids seem decent. Be careful, do good in school, don't do drugs, use protection etc, OKAY BYE!"

And with that he jumped down the other side of the wall and we stood there as his echoing laughter and heavy footsteps faded off into the distance.

"That went well..." Reaper muttered, walking over to Geno and pulling him closer to him.

Geno huffed and leaned against him. "Please don't tell me I was the only one that spotted his 'nameless friend mistake'."

I sighed and walked over to ink, pulling him into my chest. "I was definitely suspicious. But I didn't pick up on as much as you did."

Geno rolled his eye and glanced over at where the criminal had disappeared.

"I wonder if he was really telling us the truth..." Ink muttered as he leaned against me softly.

"I don't know Inky...Maybe he was...maybe he wasn't..."
