India Ferngdon has always been known as the school's badass. Another reason she's very well known is that she's in the top caste of Kingston High: The Royals.

Everyone under them treated them as literal royals. Girls and  guys would die to befriend them and be close enough to be in the top caste.

So, why would India hate her social position?

Because The Royals step down and ruin everyone under them to get what they want. It doesn't matter that they have done nothing to hurt The Royals. It doesn't matter that all everyone else wanted was to go through high school unscathed and get into a new college.

The Royals will do anything they have to in order to get what they want.

And so that's why India Ferndon will do anything she has to in order to destroy The Royals. Her own friends.
