Zenix's POV

I pull my phone out of my phone and immediately dial Aphmau. Anger bubbles inside of me, but I let it subside.

"Hello?" Aphmau's voice comes over the phone

"Aph, I'm coming home." I said sternly

"That's great! What about your mom?" 

"Gene... Dante's older brother. He did something to her and I need to go back to find out what he did." I answer

"Ok, I'll have everything ready."

"Thanks. See you soon."

"Bye."

With that, we both hang up. I get my stuff then walk to the airport. I get on the nearest flight, then start my way back to Phoenix Drop.

~Back At Phoenix Drop, Zenix's POV

Once our plane lands, I get off and rush to Aph's place. I open the door, and there's Aphmau sitting on the couch. 

She whips her head in my direction, "Zenix!" She exclaims. She hops over the couch and runs over to me. 

Aph grabs my hand, "Tell me everything." She states as she leads me to her room down the hall. 

"Why're we in here?" I ask. 

"I don't want my brothers or Travis to go into the living room and hear everything." She explains. 

"Agreed. Now, lets get to business." I say. 

We both sit down on the edge of her bed and start throwing around ideas, "I GOT IT!" She yells, jumping up and almost causing me to fall of the bed. 

"What is it?" I ask. 

"I have to call Dante first." She states, pulling her phone from her pocket. She then dials Dante, putting it on speaker.

"Hello?" Dante started

"Hey, can you come over please?" I ask

"Yea, but... Why?"

"I'll explain later. Just come over."

"On my way." He responds

Dante then hangs up, "What was that all about?" I ask. 

"You'll see." Aph smirks. 

Seconds of silence pass until there's a knock on the door. Once of Aph's brothers (Or Travis) opens it, then Dante comes through the door, "You wanted me?" Dante asks. 

Aph stands up, pulling Dante farther into the room. She has him sit down somewhere, "Well.. Did Gene ever want a relationship with you?" Aph asks. 

"Why?" Dante questions. 

"Just answer it." Aph commands. 

"No. When we were younger, he did. But not now... He lost total interest in me. The only interest he has in me is killing me." Dante explains. 

Aph looks stumped, "Well... Gene did something to Zenix's mom. Do you have any idea what it could be?" Aph asks. 

Dante's eyes glint with anger, "This was his plan..." Dante mumbles. 

"What?" I ask. 

"His plan was for you to come back to Phoenix Drop and get help. That person would call me and..." Dante explains.

"And what?" Aph encourages him to continue. 

"And kill Zenix's mother during his absence." Dante finishes. Anger returns to my body, bubbling inside of me. 

I turn into my Shadow Knight form, "Where is he?" I growl. Dante is about to answer, but Laurance runs in. 

"I FELT A DARK PRESENCE. WHAT'S GOING ON?" Laurance asks, panicked. 

His eyes trail up to me, "DANTE... TELL ME WHERE HE IS!" I command. 

Dante has fear painted in his eyes, but I can't think about that now. I need to get to mother. Dante's eyes glow white. He seems to vanish for a period of time.

Dante's POV

My eyes start to glow, showing my magicks. I vanish, reappearing where my evil brother is. My body turns into a ghostly mist as I float around. I squeeze thru a vent, reappearing in a room. A surgery is taking place. With Gene in it...? OH NO. My bump out of the misty form, reappearing back at Phoenix Drop. 

"WE NEED TO GET THERE NOW." I yell. 

"What's going on?" Zenix turns out of his Shadow Knight form. Laurance stands there, completely confused. 

"Your mom's in surgery and Gene is one of the surgeons. We need to get there NOW." I explain. 

Zenix disappears in a gust of dark green and gray smoke. Laurance teleports away in a cloud of red and black smoke. Aph looks at me, then grabs my hand. We disappear in a white whirl. We then reappear at the doors of the hospital. We see Laurance and Zenix already half way down the hall, so Aph and I follow them. 

We run as fast as we can, "ZENIX, WAIT!" Aphmau pants. 

They don't stop. Eventually, we catch up to them. Aphmau starts flying up the stairs instead of walking. I unfortunately can't use my magicks for transportation, but luckily, I have gravity-defying sneakers. 

"Aller!" I exclaim (A/N: For those that don't know, 'Aller' is 'Go' in French). 

My shoes start levitating, flying off of the ground. Aphmau and I zip up the stairwell, making our way into the hall. People give us amazed and confused looks, but we ignore them. I mean, they'll be really freaked out when they see two Shadow Knights running down the hall. A flashing sound fills the halls, signaling Aphmau and I that Zenix and Laurance are now in their Shadow Knight forms. We hear their armor clanking around as they run down the hall. We burst into the surgeons room to see a startled Gene. 

"Brother." I growl. 

Gene whips his head in my direction, "WHAT'RE THEY DOING HERE? FOOLS, ATTACK THEM!" Gene commands. 

All the other 'surgeons' glare at us, then start attacking. Zenix, Aphmau and Laurance start fighting them off as I escape the crowd. I make my way to Gene, who's continuing the operation. I'm still levitating so I have the higher advantage. I kick Gene away from Zenix's mother. Gene grows angrier, slowly turning into his Shadow Knight form. 

"LAURANCE HELP." I yell. 

Laurance escapes the fury of Gene's robots. Laurance doesn't even ask, he just clashes swords with Gene. I stitch Zenix's mother back together, then pick her up. I fly above everyone, making my way out. 

Once I get to the stairwell entrance, I stop my shoes. "Arretez!" I exclaim (A/N: Arretez is 'Stop' in French). 

Seconds pass, then Aphmau, Zenix and Laurance come out of the room, leaving the army of people inside the surgery room. Once they get closer, I look up at Laurance. He and Zenix turn out of their Shadow Knight forms, Aphmau turning from her angelic for to her human form. My eyes trail down with Laurance's height. 

"What happened with Gene?" I ask. 

Laurance gulps, "He's dead..." Laurance trails off. 

Tears fill my eyes, but I ignore them and hand Zenix his mother. Zenix puts his mother in a golden lasso, "Lets get back to Phoenix Drop..." Zenix says. Everyone agrees, then we teleport off.
