High School Diaries (Chapter 2)~Flash Of The Past

Aphmau's POV

Class finally ends after about an hour. Everyone gets up, grabbing their bookbags and such. I walk out of the classroom, being greeted by Blue Hair.

"Uhh.. Excuse me." I say politely, trying to shuffle past him.

He grabs my wrist when I reach the hallway, unable for me to escape. He instead pulls me closer.

"Can I help you?" I ask, trying to yank myself out of his grip, it just tightens, hurting my wrist. "E-Excuse me, you're hurting my wrist." I wince.

His grip loosens, but not enough for me to make my escape.

"Name's Dante." He finally speaks up.

"Jess, but you can call me Aphmau." I introduce.

He gives me a crooked smile, pulling me closer once again.

"Why're pulling me closer to you?" I ask.

"Because, you're pretty. And a pretty girl such as yourself shouldn't be walking alone in a big school like this." He says, flirtatiously.

"I'm, uhh, not alone. I have my brother, Aaron here." I inform him.

"With that being said, you should be by someone who knows their way around." He pulls me up to his chest, picking me up and putting me at his side.

His hand moves down from my wrist to my palm, intertwining our fingers. I hesitate at first, but I don't have a bad feeling about Dante, so I follow along. I look behind me to see a confused Aaron starring at me. A few girls crowd around him, breaking our eye contact forced me to turn about around. I see Katelyn as we walk down the hall and I wave to her. She smiles, waving slightly at me then looks at Dante with slight confusion mixed with fear in her eyes. I give her an assuring nod, and her mixed emotions turn into joy. She scrambles to her classes, leaving me with Dante.

"So, Dante, what are you interested in?" I ask

"Uhmm, sports such as football, soccer and basketball, friends, and getting good grades. I might look like I don't get good grades, but I do." Dante assures.

I nod, "Then we're alike! But, I like writing and reading more so than sports." I inform him.

He smiles, not breaking eye contact with me. We walk into our next class, waiting for Dante's other friends to get there

(Timeskip To Lunch)

Aphmau's POV

I walk to lunch, still stuck with Dante. He leads me thru the cafeteria, showing me the table with his friends at it. I squeeze Dante's hand, signalling him to look at me. He turns his head around, looking down to my level.

"I have to go find Aaron, I'll be here later." I tell him.

He nods, letting go of my hand and going to his friends. I walk out of the cafeteria, with my phone in hand. I call Aaron, waiting for his voice to come from the other end.

"Hello?" Aaron says over the phone.

"Aaron!" I exclaimed, "Where are you?"

"The cafeteria. ." He had an odd tone in his voice, "Why do you ask?"

I sigh, "I can't find you anywhere! Why don't you meet me by the bathrooms?"

"Right now?" He asks.

"Yes!" I start, "Go!"

"Adios," Aaron says.

"Don't be late." I tell him.

I hang up, heading towards the restrooms. Aaron's walking there as I reach the doors to the separating restrooms.

"Aphmau, why am I here?" He asks

"I needed your here, I couldn't find you anywhere and we promised to Dad not to leave each other." I remind him.

He mouths an 'Ooh.'. "Did you meet anybody yet?" I ask

"No, but I see that you have." He replies

"Well, lets go meet them!" I exclaim, pulling Aaron along.

We search the cafeteria, and see two seats by Snow Bunny and Dante. "Over here!" Sandy Blonde yells. I pull Aaron to them.

"Guys, this is my brother Aaron. And I'm Aphmau if you didn't know." I introduce.

Dante pulls me to sit down by him, with Aaron sitting by Travis (AKA- Snow Bunny). As we're eating, I see that Blondy is glancing at me from time to time.

"May I ask... Why you're starring at me?" I ask, pulling Sandy aside.

"It's just... You're so... I don't know, there's something about you... I'm G-Garroth." He explains.

"Hi G-Garroth." I joke.

The two of us laugh, then sit down again. I sit there for about a minute and feel a pair of hands on my waist. I look behind me to see Brunette towering over me.

"I'm Laurance." He says, smiling.

"Aphmau." I reply.

"You're beautiful, do you know that?" He asks.

"You're a casanova, do you know that?" I cheekily reply.

He laughs, releasing his hands from my waist and sitting back down by Travis. Laurance and Garroth keep staring at me throughout lunch until the bell rings. Everyone rushes to their lockers, getting the things they need for the next 3 (And last) classes for the day. I have every class with Garroth, Laurance, Travis, Dante and Aaron. Katelyn's in most of my classes, but not all of them. She's in 4 out of my 6 classes (Minus lunch) for the whole school year. Classes go by quickly, and before I know it, it's already the end of the school day.

I get up, grabbing my bookbag then roaming the halls in attempt to find Aaron. I see him talking to a girl with pink hair. She has cat ears and a tail, she seems like a bubbly person. I decide to wait for Aaron at the main entrance of the school. I lean on the wall outside, on my phone, waiting for Aaron to walk out when a guy with jet black, shaggy hair (Covering his left eye) with blue eyes towering over me.

"Hi.." I greet.

The guy looks at me, "I'm Zane, little brother of Garroth." He introduces.

"My name's Jess, but most people call me Aphmau." I say.

He smiles and we start a conversation, him joining me on the wall. We both lean on it, talking, laughing and joking. We switch phones, giving our numbers to each other then trading our phones back. By the time we both get our phones back, Aaron's walking outside with the same girl from before.

"Aphmau!" Aaron calls.

"What?" I groan.

Zane looks at me confused, I mouth to him 'He's my brother'. Zane nods, looking at Aaron and the girl.

"I think that I found you a friend." Aaron says.

"This is Kawaii~Chan." Aaron introduces us

"I'm Jess, but most people call me Aphmau." I put my hand out to shake it, but instead, Kawaii~Chan engulfs me into a hug.

"Kawaii~Chan is so happy to meet Aphmau~Senpai!" She calls.

I hug her back, and Aaron mouths to me 'She talks in third person, roll with it.' I nod. We release and she hands me her phone, wanting my number. I hand her mine and we exchange numbers. I look at Zane, who's eyeing Aaron down, and Aaron doing the same. I hand Kawaii~Chan her phone back, she stands by me as we watch the boys starring at each other. I wait for one of them to say something, but they don't, so I decide to take matters into my own hands.

"Zane, this is Aaron, my brother. Aaron, this is Zane, my friend." I introduce them.

They share a hand shake, then Aaron whispers something in Zane's ear that I don't hear. Zane looks slightly startled, but I shrug it off.

"Aaron, we gotta go, we're going to be late!" I exclaim

"Late to what?" He asks

"Stuff!" I yell, grabbing Aaron's wrist, "It was very nice meeting you two, see you tomorrow!" I exclaim, walking away.

Aaron waves, we hear bye's from behind us.

"What are we going to be late for!?" Aaron asks.

"Movie, remember?" I reply.

"Oh yea." He says.

We continue walking until we reach the movie theater, looking for our father and his girlfriend.

"It's weird seeing Dad with another woman." I say, sighing.

"Yea, I miss mom." He replies. The world around me becomes a blur as he says that.

Flashback

"I'll will be home soon!" My mom says.

Aaron and I cheerily hug her, releasing and going back to the couch. Our mom kisses our dad, then leaves for grocery shopping. The news flashes onto the TV screen, showing a tornado warning in our area.

Worry grows over all of us, "Dad? Is mommy going to be ok?" Aaron asks.

"Of course!" He replies, plastering a fake smile on his face.

He rushes Aaron and I to the basement, bringing down popcorn.

"Here's a snack since you guys will be down here for a little bit." My dad lays the bowl of popcorn on the coffee table in front of us, turning on the small TV.

We sit on the couch in the basement, watching the news. "

THE TORNADO HAS TOUCHED THE GROUND! REPEAT, THE TORNADO HAS TOUCHED THE GROUND! Remain calm, and stay in your basements or safe place!" The news reporter says.

As he finishes, all the lights in our house go off, wind whirling above. The TV starts screeching with gray and black blocks flying over the screen. My dad holds me and Aaron tight, despite the blood chilling noise of the TV. Our popcorn flies into the air, swirling around with the wind. The whirling sound gets stronger and stronger, until the ceiling starts to have bits of it falling to the floor. The ceiling collapses, and our Dad hovers over us, shielding us from falling chunks. I close my eyes, the screeching TV noise now gone. Aaron and I hug each other tight, until we almost suffocate each other.

"Aaron, I love you." I whisper in his ear.

"I love you too." He whispers back.

The ceiling starts rising, flying into a whirl of wind circling over in the distance. I let out whimpers of fear, and so does Aaron. The three of us continue to be in a huddle until the whirling disappears and the sun gleams through the broken basement ceiling. My dad gets up, telling us to stay there. He walks up there, Aaron and I still frozen in fear, hugging each other. My dad comes down, and we release, looking at him.

"We have to move." My dad states.

Aaron and I look at each other, the fear just rising. "O-Ok..." I reply, looking back at my dad with Aaron's eyes still glued to me.

We get up, walking upstairs to see chunks of signs, house, wood, anything scattered where our house used to be. Dad's car is no longer there, with only a few pieces of his black SUV laying on the now cracked cement.

"We're going to get through this, I promise. You two are the strongest 14 year olds I know." My Dad assures.

Aaron and I smile. "New place, new beginnings." I say.

The boys nod and we start walking to a car rental place on the outskirts of town, or at least the part of outskirts that didn't get hit by the tornado. We get a rent-to-buy car and start driving from Minnesota to Seattle. (Seattle, Washington)
