Premature
~Keiji POV~
One hour later, I was sitting in the lobby, hands on my head as I was just trying to keep myself sane, but I was at peace, knowing that I had to stay strong for Lala and the baby's sake.
When I heard the door open, I saw my friends, my crew, arrive as I really felt appreciated by them.
I called everyone, Cobra, Yamato, Hyuga, Rocky, Takeshi, even Murayama as I really needed some support right now.
Keiji(voice cracking): She's going through an emergency detox. Our baby's in an incubator right now. This was all my fault, I should've known what she was taking!
Thinking about that got me tearing up as I really did not think this would happen.
Noboru: No, don't blame yourself. You didn't know it was going to happen.
Then, I saw the doctor coming out with the results and what's happening right now.
Doctor: Based on the results, it was about to kill the infant and your wife, but we were able to catch the infection just in time.
Keiji: Thank God.
Doctor: However, she's in a coma. We had to do an emergency C-Section to make sure the baby was okay. Would you like to see him?
Keiji: No. Lala and I are gonna see him together. I'm not gonna waste my opportunity to see him before Lala can see him.
Doctor: Understood. You can visit her if you want, but the rest will have to stay out here.
Keiji: They're my family. I want them with me.
Noboru: Keiji. We'll be fine. You go to her.
Keiji: Okay. I'll see you guys later.
I hugged all of them, Sarah, who was tearing up, hugged me the most, as I went into the room where Lala was peacefully asleep and the KG machine was beeping, tracking her heartbeat.
Seeing her like this made me cry and I really didn't want to see her or my baby suffering.
I walked up to her with tears coming down my face.
Keiji(voice cracking): Hey. Just sleep as long as you want, okay? I'll be coming here everyday to check on you. I promise I will. And when you wake up, we'll see our boy together.
When I got a look at her face, with her eyes closed and her breathing, I just kneeled down and cried.
I hated seeing her like this and I love her with everything I have. I don't know where these pills came from, but we gotta find out sooner than later.
~7:00 PM~
I didn't want to leave Lala alone in the room, knowing how much she meant to me, and I didn't realize is was near 7 PM.
I've been in here for a long time, but a nurse had to come in.
Nurse: I'm sorry, but you have to leave. Visiting hours are done.
Keiji: But I wanna stay here, be near her.
Nurse: I know, but you have to go.
Keiji: You guys got a chapel here?
I was told of one on the bottom floor and I went there instead of going home. I wasn't gonna leave my wife here when she needs me.
If I have to pack up my stuff and live here, then so be it. I'm not gonna leave, no matter what.
As I walked in...
...I felt sudden comfort and just felt some sort of relief. It felt weird to me, but good in a way.
I walked up to the front of the stand, and sat in the front booth, just looking at the painting with Jesus being lead up to the top of the hill to be crucified.
Seeing that made me tear up, as I really didn't want to think about Lala, but I can't help myself.
I've been thinking if I was the main reason she's in that hospital bed and my baby is in that incubator because of me. This got me fucked up in the head and I don't think anybody could ever understand, how emotional it is to see their wife in the hospital bed, performed an emergency C-Section on a prematurely born baby.
Before I could cry some more, I heard some people walk into the chapel, but I didn't want to look...
Until I heard this voice, as it sounded like a little girl's.
?????: Keiji?
I immediately looked back to see these two standing behind me!
I didn't think they'd make the trip!
Keiji: Eri? Takeshi?
Takeshi: We're here, man.
I got up from my seat, walked over, and I hugged Eri as tight as I could while Takeshi came up and hugged me too.
I mean, it feels so good to be around Takeshi after some time, but for Eri to come as well, I'm just overwhelmed.
Takeshi: P called me and told us what happened, but I didn't know how serious it was, so we rode over. Are you doing okay?
Keiji: I'll be fine. Just screwed up in the head, you know?
Takeshi: Yeah.
Keiji: Let's sit down, so we can discuss it.
Eri: Can I hear it too?
I smiled at her and hugged her on the side, trying to stay positive, even though the situation isn't...
Keiji: Of course. You're my sister-in-law, and you're an aunt as well.
She sat down next to me in a podium while Takeshi sat down in another, facing me.
I really couldn't be more grateful for these two to come up and make the trip. I really am so happy for them to be here.
Takeshi: So, what's the story? What happened?
Keiji: I saw Lala taking some pills and that lead her being down on the floor, but I caught her before a miscarriage happened.
Takeshi: Did you know what she was taking?
Keiji: No. To be honest, Takeshi, I don't know where she got those pills, but I know for a fact that something didn't add up.
Takeshi: Hey, we're with you, Keiji. You're our family. We won't let anyone who did this to Lala get away with it.
Keiji: From what I know, it looked red and shaped like your usual ibuprofen.
Takeshi: Hold on. Is it Redrum?
Keiji: Redrum? I thought we banned it.
Takeshi: Same here, but it seems like it's starting to make a comeback.
Keiji: Exactly why we banned drugs, especially in Deathriders, unless they're prescribed. Nothing else.
Then, I felt my phone vibrate and it turned out to be buzzing, so I picked up to get the voice I've been wanting to hear...
Murayama: Sandy-man.
Keiji: Yeah. Redrum's back in town.
Murayama: I know. I was gonna call you and tell you what I got.
Keiji: You know who was sharing the drug?
Murayama: I didn't get the name, but he was blonde.
Keiji: How do you know this?
Murayama: I arrived for my first day of a new job and I was gonna put in some work clothes, then all of a sudden, my two bosses found this blonde guy with colored hair cronies dealing the Redrum. I knew it was one of the people you're looking for, so I had to call you.
Keiji: I appreciate it, man, but there's something you're gonna have to know. Lala's in a coma and our baby is in an incubator.
Murayama: What?! What happened?
Keiji: Apparently, some Redrum found its way to us and it got Lala. Our baby was about to die and long story short, we took her to the hospital and they had to do an emergency C-Section by cutting open her stomach and taking the baby out of her before it died.
Murayama: What about Lala? Is she okay?
Keiji: She's still in a coma, man. I don't know if she's gonna wake up.
Murayama: I'm here for you, Sandy-Man. If you ever need anything, come to Oya High. I promise, I'll let everyone know the situation.
Keiji: Okay, but keep it brief. Don't go into detail because I don't want it all out there.
Murayama: I promise, I won't say much.
Keiji: Alright, thanks. I gotta get home and be ready to come by tomorrow. We're gonna have a church meeting at your gymnasium.
Murayama: Sounds good. I'm praying for you, Sandy-man.
Keiji: Thanks. Goodnight.
Murayama: 'Night.
We hung up as I looked at Takeshi, who looked like he wanted to know who it was.
Keiji: It was Murayama. We're working together.
Takeshi: Makes sense. Mind if we crash at your place for the night?
Keiji: Of course. I got a sleeper-sofa if you guys want it.
Takeshi: That's perfect. Thanks.
Keiji: Yeah. Let's go over there.
We walked out of the chapel and we rode home to sleep, but in the morning, I had to get up to get to Oya High, but what will be revealed in that meeting will send me off the rails.
