Chapter 18
L E V I ' S P O V
Matilda, the woman that raised me, always said that there was a first time for everything.
In this case, last night was the first time I kissed Ophelia,
The first time I felt lips as soft as hers.
The first time I couldn't get a woman out of my head...
and the first time that I got a boner from just a fucking kiss.
Albeit being the first, it surely wouldn't be the last because I wasn't going to allow it to happen.
It took me a month and a half to finally kiss her and I wasn't about to wait another month just to kiss her again.
I wouldn't allow it to happen.
I swung my feet off of the bed and looked at the clock next to my bed that read 5:36 a.m. in bold green numbers.
I proceed to get up and go the door across my room to get to the bathroom.
Switching on the light, I did my business in the toilet then washed my hands and exited the room.
I then opened the refrigerator at the other end of my bedroom and pulled out a water bottle.
I decided that I was a little hungry since I didn't eat after I came home last night since I had to take care of another big problem in the shower thanks to the angel a room below me.
As I neared the main kitchen, I heard shuffling and pots and pans clinking against each other.
The maids weren't supposed to be here until 6 which peaked my curiosity to the next level.
Leaning against the doorway with my arms folded across the chest, I saw Ophelia grating some vegetables while the coffee maker was on and two frying pans were on the stove, the flame burning bright beneath them.
She wore a grey sweater and blue jeans, along with a pair of sneakers.
She was really killing me with these jeans that she was beginning to take a liking to.
It was hard not to notice the small things that she did.
How her hips moved with a rhythmic motion with every swipe of the grater that she made, the way she would stop momentarily to move a strand if curly hair from her line of vision, and the way that she tried to accurately cut the sweet pepper in half.
Locking my jaw and forcing my eyes not to look down and see how nicely that jeans fit her ass, I cleared my throat.
"Ophelia? What are you doing up so early?" I said, my voice still husky from sleep.
She jumped slightly and turned around to face me, her cheeks heating up when her eyes laid on my naked chest.
Tearing her eyes away, she spoke, "U-Um, I remembered you saying that you had to leave early for work today, so I thought that I'd just get breakfast starting early." She rambled.
"Oh! And I was wondering when I'd get my uniform." She inquired with a tilt of her head.
I was confused for a second before I finally registered what she meant.
I was hoping that she would forget about that entire cook thing and now she wanted a uniform?
"You don't have to wear one." I said as I unfolded my arms and stepped closer.
She watched the movement and took a small step back, her eyes trained on my attire again, or lack thereof.
I was only in grey sweatpants.
"B-But Trinity wore one." She stated with a small frown.
I refrained from the urge to roll my eyes at the mention of Trinity's name.
"Well, that's because I didn't like Trinity." I took another step forward and as she took one back, her back hitting the counter. "Not the way I do you." I murmured as I finally situated myself in front of her, placing my hands on either side of her, locking and caging her in.
"You're not taking me seriously," She mumbled as she looked down.
"Hmm?" I said looking at her. I literally didn't hear much of what she said just now because I was distracted.
How could someone be this beautiful? Especially both inside and out?
I really wasn't kidding about this beating around the bush shit. I was going to be completely forward with Ophelia because I wasn't a patient man and said patience, was wearing thin.
Slowly, I leaned in to kiss her but she quickly put her hands in front of her on my chest.
I looked down at the action and kept in the urge to groan at the feeling of her soft hands on my skin. Ophelia's eyes widened as she caught what she was currently doing and she quickly removed her hands from my naked chest.
"I'm working." She wrung her fingers. "And you're my boss now." She muttered.
My face hardened and my eyebrows scrunched together. If she was implying what I thought she was, then I was going to fire her ass right now and we'll see what other excuse she would come up with.
"And?" My voice came out harsher than I intended it to.
Just as I said this, I heard the door open and I knew that it was just a few minutes to six so it must be the maids.
About 4 of them passed by the main kitchen where we were, chatting among themselves.
They looked at the position that Ophelia and I were currently in but quickly snapped their eyes back in front of them, continuing their conversations.
Ophelia instantly tried shuffling against me to escape after they leave and I moved to give her space. "See, I-I don't want people to think I'm favorited." She mumbled.
I understood what she was getting at. She didn't want to be treated differently because of what the other workers would think of her, but needless to say, I didn't care, and neither should she.
If I wanted to spoil the fuck out of her, then I was going to spoil the fuck out of her.
Instead, I nodded my head and gave her the benefit of the doubt. I would play this out and see where this goes.
Walking slowly backwards, I then turned around and I made my way back upstairs to take a shower, leaving Ophelia alone in the kitchen.
-----
Clipping my cufflinks together, I grabbed my briefcase and walked downstairs, saying small greetings to my staff as I walked by.
Finally reaching the bottom, I saw Ophelia by the coffee table, brown paper bags in front of her.
I didn't have time to eat because I had quite a few calls to make before showering and I instantly felt bad that she worked so hard on it just for me not to eat it.
She quickly stood up straight as she placed her hands in front of her.
Before I could say anything, she picked up one paper bag and brought it to my face.
"Your breakfast," She gulped as I took the bag from her hands, warily opening it up and undoing the clear container, the sweet aroma of sausage, egg and bacon immediately hitting my nose.
"Smells fucking great." I mumbled as I covered it back down, placing it in the bag.
"You can eat it in the car." She suggested softly as she bent down to receive the other bags.
"And this is lunch. Oh! And fruits and water." She sent a small smile as she handed me both bags. I took them slowly, my eyes scrunching up in confusion.
I never carried work lunch before because not only was it not in Trinity's work description but I would usually just send someone to get two sandwiches for me from the cafeteria.
I looked down at the bags in my hand then back at Ophelia.
She literally was giving me all the right reasons to wife her ass up.
She blushed as she caught me staring and said, "What? You're staring." She murmured.
I shook my head but then realised that she couldn't see me because she was looking down.
"Nothing— I was just wondering if you'd like to accompany me today."
I knew today that she had to get work at 12.
She looked up at me then opened her mouth to speak, " Um, s-sure."
------
Ophelia walked nervously over to the front of the doors of the large building as her hand tightened around my arm.
She was holding tightly onto a container that she had brought before she left and I had no idea what was in it.
I also made sure that she brought her work uniform which I was currently holding so that she could change before we left.
We arrived in front of Andrew and Mac who stood tall and large in front of my office doors as security, their heads straight ahead and barely even blinking.
As I nodded at both of them, ready to go in, Ophelia stopped, which in turn made me stop.
She walked shyly in front of both of them and they didn't even acknowledge her as their expression remained stoic, still looking at the busy street in front of them.
"I-I made cupcakes for t-the both of you." She mumbled as she pushed out the container in front of her.
Without a blink of the eye, they ignored her and kept their hands planted firmly behind their backs.
Ophelia lowered the container in sadness and although I was behind her and couldn't see her face, I knew that she was frowning and upset that they didn't want them.
Standing directly behind her, I motioned with my chin toward her hands as their eyes shifted slightly to me.
In sync, both of them firmly held one hand out and Ophelia beamed with joy as she bounced on her toes opening up the container and placing two vanilla cupcakes in their respective hands.
Andrew first pushed the entire thing in his mouth and chewed about four times before swallowing and Mac followed and did the same.
"Do you like them?" Ophelia asked as she smiled widely, wringing her fingers shyly.
I gave a small nod of my head towards them, still aware that Ophelia couldn't see me and they both gave one stiff movement of their heads.
"W-Well, bye!" She beamed as she grabbed my hand once again and pulled us inside.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Andrew's lips tug up just a bit in the corner into a smile.
----
"Good Morning, Mrs. Alton." I greeted as I arrived at her desk to retrieve my paperwork.
"Hello, sir. Your coffee was placed in your office about two minutes ago, sir." She nodded.
I thanked her as I picked up the folder that she handed me and afterward, turned to Ophelia.
"By the way, this is Ophelia, a—" Ophelia quickly cut me off and extended her hand for Mrs. Alton to shake as she said, "I'm the cook." She introduced.
I knew that she could see the glance that I was giving her from her peripheral vision. I was going to introduce her as a friend because I didn't want to overwhelm Ophelia by saying that we were dating, and only went out on a couple of dates actually.
But she also wasn't my girlfriend.
I could recover from saying that she was my friend because that can easily be changed into something more but she insisted on being the cook, bringing me one step closer to firing her ass to see what she would do then.
"Nice to meet you, Ophelia. Well, I have to get back to work now so I'll see you later." Mrs. Alton smiled as she looked back down at her papers politely.
I then proceeded to usher Ophelia towards my elevator, leaning down to whisper in her ear, "What was that?" I knew that she understood what I was referring to by the blush on her cheeks.
"What?" And yet she still proceeded to mutter and play dumb.
I shook my head just as the elevator door opened up and we stepped out.
It suddenly dawned on me, "Did you eat anything this morning?" I asked as I took a seat and she did too across the room on the couch.
"I'll get something at Vincent's." She said softly as she looked at a magazine.
"But that's almost 6 hours away, Ophelia. Now look." I pushed on as I grabbed the lunch that she made for me.
"But—"
I raised my eyebrow and she snapped her mouth shut and hesitantly took the container.
I smiled triumphantly and as she ate embarrassingly.
I then went on with numbering a few undone pages.
About twenty minutes had passed and Ophelia was walking around and looking at paintings and outside, anything she could really get her hands on.
Every movement she made, I found very distracting as I tried to focus on my task at hand.
I could still remember the feeling of my hands on her waist and hers around my neck and I was longing for that feeling again, even if just for a second.
The sound of my phone ringing instantly made me jump a little out of my fantasy and clear my throat as I answered, "Morterez speaking."
"Sir, Mr. Elijah is down here, shall I let him up?" Mrs. Alton's voice rang through the other end of the phone.
"Yes, yes. He can come." I instructed as Ophelia pulled her phone fumbling with it just as a notification rang through.
We both hung up and I looked at Ophelia, "Is something wrong?" I asked as I rounded my desk. I wasn't getting anywhere with my work anyways.
She jumped a little and shook her head, "It was just Shalissa." She said.
I nodded my head and leaned against the front of my desk, folding my arms in front of my chest.
"Come here, Ophelia." I said gently as I motioned her over her with a finger.
She blushed and slowly made her way over until she was only a few feet away.
The look that I gave her made her realise that I wanted her to come closer and she did, close enough that she was within an arm's reach.
I unfolded my arms and placed them on her hips, pulling her into me making her let out a soft squeal as she grounded herself by placing her hands on my chest.
Still leaning on my desk, Ophelia quickly removed her hands and concentrated on her nails right in front of her face, as to not assume eye contact.
I grabbed onto her hands and placed a lingering kiss on her hands and if possible, she blushed even darker.
She tried to wiggle out of my grab but I held her tighter, pulling her even closer.
"Levi," She slightly whined.
"What?" I asked in amusement as I watched her squirm.
"N-Not here." She mumbled.
I sighed as I drew circles on her hips with my thumb.
"Then when? You're not working now." I whispered as I tried to reason with her.
"B-But you are, and I-I don't want to distract you." She came up with yet another excuse. "And anyone can walk through the door." She said.
"No one can come in without knocking, sweetheart." I said.
No one except fucking Elijah because he has no goddamn manners.
Ophelia quickly jumped away from me, "Oh, you didn't tell me Ophelia was here, Leviathan." He stated with a small smirk on his lips.
Behind him, Kace walks in along with Shalissa.
"Can't you knock?" I ignored his statement.
"Not when I don't feel like it." He shrugged as he walked over to Ophelia and I rolled my eyes at his words.
"Hey, darling. It's been a while." He smiled at her and she blushed as she went to hug him.
Elijah looked at me and his smirk grew, "Does she hug you like this, Levi?" I rolled my eyes at his idiocy as I rounded my desk again, Ophelia slightly hitting his chest and mumbling for him to stop it.
"No, but I like her kisses better." I wanted to say but I didn't know how she would feel about that since I knew she was a quiet person.
That was the main reason why none of them knew that Ophelia and I had gotten somewhat further in our relationship.
"Well, let's go to the cafeteria, Ophelia. To catch up." Shalissa motioned for Ophelia to follow her.
Ophelia obediently followed and I gave Shalissa a warning look. She could get wild even in the quietest places and I didn't want her to badly influence Ophelia.
"Don't do anything stupid." I pointed my finger at her.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." She waved me off.
"Be careful, Ophelia." My voice became gentle once again as I walked up to her.
She smiled back shyly and left as Shalissa tugged on her arm gently.
I sighed, still smiling, as I stuck my hands in my pocket as I watched the door close.
I'm, however, startled when I felt a slap on my shoulder.
"When did it happen?" I heard Kace ask and I could hear the smile in his voice.
"What are you talking about?" I said as I took a seat.
"He's talking about the fact that you are over there smiling like an idiot and Ophelia seems more comfortable around you." Elijah butted in.
I knew it was no use lying so I admitted, "Okay, okay. We went on a date last night and one thing led to another and I kissed her. But that's it, a simple kiss." I rolled my eyes at both of them.
I knew that it wasn't just a simple kiss, it was more than that because Ophelia was really starting to grow more on me, if possible, and I was loving every second of it.
"However, she's been playing the 'you're my boss and I'm your employee' card ever since I hired her and it's driving me insane." I tapped my pen against my desk.
They both gave each other a look and I raised my eyebrows.
"What? What's that look for? And I know this isn't just a casual visit so spill." I was growing agitated by the minute.
"Well, you're right about it not being casual. If I were you, I'd take the 'you're my boss and I'm your employee' card instead of the 'your girlfriend's crazy and still thinks you're together' one." Elijah said as he threw a magazine on my desk.
"Page 9." Kace mumbled.
I snatched the magazine from my desk and flipped through the pages until I landed on page 9 to see the heading:
Model Amanda Cortel Speaks Out
Along with that, it was a picture of Amanda and I at an event about 3 months ago before I met Ophelia.
Ms. Cortel stated that Billionaire Levi Morterez and her have encountered a rough patch in their relationship but are still 100% together as of now.
This was the first statement that is below the picture and my nose flared as I gripped the magazine tighter, reading on.
"Levi is just really confused with work and everything and we will be both commenting together on this entire ordeal when the right time comes..." The model stated.
"What the fuck is this shit?" I threw the magazine across the room.
Elijah rubbed his stubble as Kace took a seat in front of me.
"This isn't your biggest problem right now, Levi." Kace stated.
I shook my head in annoyance, "Yeah, I know it isn't. The problem is Ophelia seeing this fuckery and thinking that I lied to her." I said as I pinched the bridge of my nose.
Kace shook his head and jutted his chin in the direction of Elijah who was backing us and looking at the scenery below us, his hands behind his back.
"Mom and Dad wants to see you," He said and I ran my hand tiredly down my face.
Can't I get a fucking break?
