Chapter 15

O P H E L I A ' S     P O V

"Thanks, Ophelia." Ted shouted just as I sent him a smile as I manoeuvred my way around the diner.

Just as I walked balancing the three trays in my hand, a mother and her son who looked about five years old, spilled his milkshake right in front of my foot.

"Oopsie." I smiled down at him as his mother scolded him.

Quickly placing the trays with orders on the counter, I grabbed the mop and in a swift movement, I swiped the mop over the floor and poured some disinfectant on it.

"I told you to hold it properly." She sighed as she tried to balance his bag, her bag and their jackets all in one hand. "I'm so sorry about him." She apologised to me.

The little boy just looked sadly at the floor with a sad expression on his face. "I'm sorry, mommy." He whispered as he looked down at the ground.

A frown grew on my face. The mother rubbed her forehead tiredly and only then do I realise the bags beneath her eyes.

"It's really okay." I said.

The lady looked at me and smiled gratefully but we both looked at the little boy when he spoke.

"C-Can I have a new one pwease?" He asked shyly.

She sighed, "I'm sorry, bud. Mommy has to go to work and doesn't have the money for that." She tried whispering the last part. "Thanks again." She waved at me as she grabbed his arm when he continued to look at the spot where his milkshake threw away.

"U-Um, wait." I bit my lip before I could stop myself.

She looked at me with an eyebrow raised.

"Just— wait here, please." I said as I scurried off to the back room.

Trying to make myself look busy in the kitchen, I watched as everyone exited to serve tables.

I quickly took up a cup remembering that it was a vanilla milkshake that he had spilled.

Pushing it under the machine to mix, I quickly go for a straw and a plastic cover before removing it and assembling the cup together.

I peeked out the window to make sure no one saw me or was looking before quickly hurrying and placing the cup in his hands.

The mother's eyes widened before she looked at me, "Thank you b-but---" I stopped her.

"It's okay, really. I know you're probably late for work now." I smiled.

She looked down at her little boy with a bright smile on his face as he slurped his shake.

"Thank you, again." She smiled hesitantly.

She grabbed his hand to leave but not before he looked back and waves frantically saying, "Thankou!" He giggled.

Waving, I grabbed my purse with a small sigh and then went behind the counter.

I typed in the code to open the cash register before rummaging through my purse looking for loose change.

Let's see...

One of the things that Levi had bought for me was tons of new purses but I only ever used this light blue one. Not only does it match my working outfit, but I loved the colour blue.

Although I had insisted, I kept my old worn out purse since all I had was a few pennies, (I didn't tell him this to embarrass myself anymore) he insisted that I not.

Now here I am trying to scrape together any money I could to pay for the milkshake.

"Aha!" I said in triumph when I found the last nickel to make up for the milkshake.

Balancing all of the coins in my hand, I went to throw them all in the cash register. That was it, I'm officially broke and have absolutely nothing in my purse.

However, I saw a hand swipe two bills from their pocket before placing them in the register and shutting it.

Watching with my cheeks completely red with my hands filled with dozens of coins, I followed the tattooed arms up to meet the face of Levi smiling down at me.

"I saw that." He admitted as I scurried to place the money back in the purse.

"Saw what?" I tried to play dumb.

"With the woman and her son. How you manage to be so pure and kind still amazes me." He shook his head and looked at me with admiration.

"Is that bad?" I whispered.

He shook his head once more and stuck his hands in his casual jeans.

I looked around the diner and saw everyone looking at us, "What are you doing here? Don't you have work?" I grabbed a cloth to wipe the counter where all of my money had currently been.

"Everything seems smooth, in fact, I have to go and check a few things there and was wondering if you'd like to join me." He questioned.

I would actually love to go and find out what he did and such. I've never been one to engage in technology but it did seem interesting to see and talk about.

"I'm still working." I remembered.

He looked at his watch and his eyebrows furrowed. "But it's---" He started but as if rehearsed, Rachel popped her head from her office and shouted, "Ophelia, it's your break." Her voice sounded rough and annoyed, almost as if she didn't want to give me a break.

She spotted Levi and then her entire demeanour changed. "Don't forget that there's the discount if you're eating here." She added on quickly.

I was still slightly shocked by Rachel's attitude. For the past few days, she hasn't exactly been acknowledging me and wouldn't brush me purposely and such. It made my job so much easier and I had yet to figure out what had changed.

"Oh okay." I said cautiously. I turned back to face Levi and saw him with a hard look on his face as he watched Rachel. However, he quickly changed it when I looked back at him.

"So that's a yes then?" He looked hopeful.

I nodded shyly, "We have to be back early though."

He nodded but by the looks on his face, I was pretty sure that he wasn't planning to keep that promise.

He helped me in the limousine and I perked up once I saw Gerald.

"Hello again, Mr. Gerald." I beamed since I saw him this morning when he dropped me off at work.

He shook his head both warningly and playfully and says, "I keep telling you it's just Gerald, Miss." He hummed just as Levi opened his own door.

"And I keep telling you it's just Ophelia." I retorted at him as I smiled through the rearview mirror.

I saw his lips curve up a little before he just shook his head and looked at Levi who was watching the exchange.

"Where to, sir?" He looked at his employer expectantly.

"The Enterprise, please." He said with a small nod.

Gerald tipped his hat in his direction before looking at me and glaring playfully at him.

I stuck out my tongue at him playfully before he rolled up the partition.

"So, how was your day?" Levi asked me as he looked at me. He seemed to enjoy the little exchange between Gerald and I.

"It was really good. A lot of families." I smiled at the thought.

Just then, his phone rang and he murmured a small excuse before answering.

I nodded and distracted myself by clicking that familiar circle button where the chips popped out from the door.

Taking out a couple and waiting for it to close again, I popped two in my mouth before holding one in front of Levi's mouth.

He continued to talk on the phone before going silent and allowing the person on the other line to talk.

From his tone of voice, I could tell that it was a business call.

Parting his lips, he takes the chip from my fingers before continuing to speak once again.

Eating one of my own again, I placed it in front of his lips again.

This continued for the whole ride since he was pretty much on the phone the entire journey.

---------

"Wow." I dragged out dreamily as I craned my neck to look at the sky scraper.

Levi held out his arm for me and I took it by grabbing onto his bicep.

His very muscled bicep.

"Bye Mr. Gerald!" I shouted as I looked back. He showed his acknowledgement by the honk of the horn before he sped away.

Levi led me up to the door where two large men stood. They were really extremely large but didn't look a day over 35.

I waved shyly at the both of them but they just continued to look straight ahead.

Entering the large building, my eyes widened at it. Employees scurry around to get work done while numerous people were on the phone.

However, when we entered, all eyes turned to Levi and like magic, the entire room became quiet. Talking could still be heard of course, but Levi's powerful aura radiated the entire room.

I looked around, drawing closer to Levi's side whenever people looked at me. It was extremely intimidating that even without his formal suit on, Levi still managed to make people jump out of their skin with one look.

He led us to where there were 7 elevators. Placing his thumb on the gold one, it opened and he ushered us inside as he clicked the last button which I'm assuming is the top floor.

My eyes wandered everywhere and Levi just chuckled at my expression. He led us into a large office with a big black chair, modern white couches, a long table and a desk situated right in front of the chair.

"You can have a seat. I'll be right back." He pointed to one of the couches behind a glass table with magazines.

Exiting throughout the door he came in, I smoothed out my dress and took a seat. I let my eyes scan over all the magazines and articles but yet, only one seemed to catch my attention.

Famous Billionaire Levi Morterez, Available?

These words highlight the top of the magazine in big, bold words above a picture of Levi in a suit with a stoned expression on his face looking as handsome as ever.

Levi Morterez states that Model Amanda Cortel and their relationship has come to an end due to personal problems.

The billionaire said that he won't go into detail and we have yet to hear a statement from Ms. Cortel herself...

The other information didn't seem as important to me. I hesitantly grabbed the magazine in my hand and I let my eyes scan over it once more when I heard a deep voice.

"I wasn't lying about what I said," It said.

My eyes snapped to meet Levi's who had his hands in his pockets and a neutral expression on his face.

"W-What?" I stood up.

He rounded the table and stood right in front of me so I took a little step back.

"About what I said about Amanda. We were never really together but in everyone else's eyes we were. It was an agreement with our parents..." He explained. "And Ophelia, I was telling the truth when I said that I liked you." He took a small step forward and this time, I didn't move back.

I hoped that the distance between us wasn't close enough for me to be breathing in his face.

"I-I..." I was at a complete lost for words at the moment. Levi did absolutely nothing as an indication that I couldn't trust him but there was still that part of me that would always believe that I was never going to be on his level.

"You don't have to say anything." He stopped my rambling as he lifted his hand to move a single strand of curly hair from in front of my face, the brush of his finger upon my face sending my mind in a frenzy until his hand cupped my face.

He stood that way for a small amount of time which felt like hours just gazing into my eyes.

I was hoping that I wouldn't have to make the first move because I would just completely embarrass myself.

But I didn't have to...

because he cleared his throat and took a step back which admittedly hurt.

I averted my gaze to the ground as my cheeks heated up in embarrassment.

"I... I have something for you." He said as he took something from his back in a small white box.

My eyebrows scrunched up in confusion as I hesitantly took it from him.

I didn't look at the type or the colour or even the brand. The only thing I saw is a large mobile phone in my small hand and the only thing I felt was tears in my eyes.

"I thought that you um, needed a new phone to call your friends and stuff." He scratched the back of his neck nervously.

I let out a tear filled laugh. I didn't have any friends or even family but it was the thought that counted.

"I already added my, Kace's, Elijah's and I thought that you'd even want Shalissa's number. I---" He stopped as he saw the tears in my eyes.

"We can um, remove my number if you want, just please don't cry." He pleaded and I let out another small laugh.

"No, silly." I said. "I-I'm sorry. No one has ever given me anything before like this." I admitted.

"You deserve more." I heard him mutter under his breath and my heart swelled.

Without thinking twice, I stood on my tip toes and planted a soft kiss on his cheek. His skin felt rough yet soft against my lips and I let my lips linger there for a little while. Pulling away, I felt my hands become clammy and I wondered if I was a bit too forward.

He looked shocked to say the least so I looked down at the ground and played with the box in my hand.

"Thank you." I whispered.

After a moment and I didn't hear him reply, I began to get anxious.

Just then, I felt soft, delicate lips on my cheek and my eyes widened. His lips were nothing like how I imagined them to be.

They were better.

I basked in the moment knowing that that was the closest contact I would ever have with him.

"You're welcome." He answered sheepishly.

His eyes zoomed in on the box in my hand and he said, "What happened to your finger?" He placed the phone on the desk and examined my hand.

"Oh, nothing big. Trinity just made a little accident." I said referring to the gash on my finger caused by a knife.

"Trinity?" He asked and my eyes widened at my confession.

"Yeah but it was my fault." I quickly rushed out.

"Oh?" He didn't seem to believe me. "If so, she could have at least cleaned it up, there's dry blood." He stated.

"Oh, s-she tried. She just couldn't find the first aid kit." I informed him.

He looked like he's thinking for a while before he said, "It's always the same place..."

He paused for a long time before saying, "Come on." And he grabbed my hand.

I quickly picked up the phone and said, "But what about my work?"

"Don't worry about it." He said and hurried me outside the door after grabbing some files.
