Jonas' POV

I look around the new school. I'd be attending here in a few days. I don't know why I'm transferring, it's my third year of high school... I'm admittedly a bit nervous, but my older sister has been going there for a few years, so I'm not too worried.

I get there early the first day I arrive. The first person I see is glaring at the ground and leaning on the wall. I look over at him. He must sense me, because he turns his head up to face me and glares at me. For a second, I swear his pupils are slits, but then I blink and they're normal. The guy looks me up and down. "So, you're gay?" he asks. I look confused. He points to my shirt. I'm wearing a bright pink t-shirt with a rainbow heart on it, which pretty much gives away my sexuality. I blush heavily and put my hoodie on to cover up the shirt. "So, what if I am? Got a problem with it?" I ask defensively.

The guy grins and points to his right arm. Around the middle of his arm, there's a bandage around it. He takes it off to reveal a tattoo. It's a lime green heart that says "GAY" in black letters on it. I stare at it for a minute or two before he covers it back up. "I don't know what'd be wrong with me if I did have a problem with it," he says and laughs. I smile sheepishly. "Anyways," he begins and his smile falters, "The other kids here are raging homophobes. They'll tear you apart in seconds if they find out you're gay, or lesbian, or bi, or whatever... My pansexual brother went here for a year before people found out and he had to leave because they were bullying him..." he finishes.

"wow..." I say in disbelief. The guy nods. "Um... so, what's your name?" I ask. "Cole. I'm 15 and should be in ninth grade, but I'm way too smart, so I was put in the elevent grade instead," he laughs again. His laugh is charming... on his other arm, he has a flame tattoo... that's awesome... Cole is gorgeous...

...

What am I saying?! I've just meet him!

I clear my throat. "That's cool," I say and smile, "My name is Jonas... I'm 16, I'll be 17 in a couple months."

"Woah... so, my first friend here is almost an adult already," Cole says happily. I smile. "We're... friends?" I ask. "Well, we're both hiding the same secret, so..." he says, putting his hand out for me to shake. I smile wider and shake his hand. I see some of the other students walking along the campus. "Let's go," I say to him and we walk inside of the school together.
