Chapter 4: Underwears and straps
Oh god. I knew it. I wouldn't last two minutes in here.
Alex stood rooted on her feet, fidgeting with her books nervously, as Quentin and Hans took their place at the table. When they settled in, and she made no effort to move, Q looked up to her confused.
"Aren't you going to come join us?"
No way in hell. While nervously backing away from the table slowly, from the corner of her eye, she tried to calculate how far the cafetaria door was. She needed to get away. She had enough drama for one day. And i thought girls were too much to handle.
Nate shook his head and spoke up, "Q! When you couldn't stop talking about his ass, I knew you were going to do something stupid. But this is the most reckless thing you have done. He is as white as a sheet. What did you do to make him come with you?" he grunted.
As Q huffed and opened his mouth to protest his innocence, Greek god chuckled, " I hope you are not hesitating to join us because of me."
Quentin narrowed his eyes, "What did you do to little Alex here?"
"Nothing you wouldn't do."
"You tied him to a bed post in his underwear?" He narrowly dodged an apple thrown at him.
"I'm not you! I'd rather have those images of girls."
"Then what? Spit it out."
"What we always do to chase away Seth's roommates."
"He is Seth's roommate?!"
"You look like someone told you Santa's real."
"Seth!" Q shoved the guy to look up. Seth growled, slapping his hand away, having been rudely awaken from his nap.
"Can't I receive a few moments of peace?"
"Can we exchange rooms?'
Seth narrowed his eyes, "Why?"
"Because you don't like your roommates and I want Alex." Quentin stated simply.
"What?! No!" He slapped a hand over his face. What had happened while he was asleep?
"But..."
"Guys?" Everyone turned to face Hans, "Alex is gone." he stated, pointing at the vacant spot on the floor.
"Ha! So is Nate." Jason pitched in.

Finding a silent spot between the cafeteria wall and the consecutive building, Alex sinked down on the grass, finally letting the tears spill. She had worked so hard to run away. And now she was so close to loosing it all. She had been so stupid. How could she have thought that cross dressing at a boys' school would be easy? Hadn't she seen how the Jocks would treat the other kids in her previous school? Why would she suddenly expect the boys here to be any different?
As she lay her head back against the wall, sighing, she went down the memory lane to the day she had found the school letter. She had been taken aback when she saw that it had been addressed to her brother. He hadn't been in correspondence with anyone for months. Not that he could.
It had been an acceptance letter from the prestigious school for boys'; Euton. She finally understood. Her parents had been planning to enter the twins into private schools. They hadn't gotten to researching schools for her but they must have posted Alexander's form before the accident.
As she was folding the letter back into the envelope, it struck her. This was her escape. This was it. It was the only place no one in the world could imagine sweet, little Alexis in. Only place in the world she was safe. She remembered all the months she spent planning, waiting for the perfect moment to come her way. Many opportunities came but she couldn't will herself to do it. Her cousin had succeeded in breaking her. But the last night had been the last straw. Something inside her woke up, ready to rebel for her freedom. She knew if she stayed any longer, she would become a living vegetable. Just like that Alexis ceased to exist, as she became Alexander William Montgomery.
Her tears stopped because she realised she was here because she knew nothing any boy could do that would be worse than what she had already had gone through. And in the fleeting moment of passion, she willed herself to wait it out. Because if she surrendered now, what waited for her would break her resolve.
As she calmed down enough for her to be aware of her slight headache and surrounding, she hiccuped and silently cursed for making a mess of herself.
"Here. Take this." Panic set in as she looked up to see who had located her. She met a pair of kind grey eyes, "Wipe your eyes and nose with this."
He extended his hand with a handkerchief in it.
Alex took it, grateful for his help, although she had no idea why he was here. She mumbled a thanks as she blew her nose out, and he sat down next to her, leaning against the wall.
Once she was done, he spoke again, "My name is Nate." He smiled, "I didnt get a chance to introduce myself since you bailed on us."
She nodded, "I'm sorry. I didn't have the best of days to begin with. You were there to witness half of it."
He smiling eyes showed genuine concern for her, "Chill. So I guess Q didn't drag you with him against your will."
She crunched up her eyebrows, "No, why would he?"
"So I guess you didn't hear us brawling when you were trying to escape."
Alex looked down sheepishly. She thought she heard the word underwear, but maybe that was her ears ringing.
Nate laughed at her clear embarrassment, "Don't worry. They aren't a bad bunch. But since I, and Q definitely, have taken a liking to you, it'll tone down now. I can't promise however that you would be exempt from the pranks we perform as friends." And with that he shoved her shouder playfully.
Alex couldn't help herself from smiling. She also took this time out to take a good look at her new friend. With light brown hair, God must have certainly taken his time to carve his face. It was perfect, except for a really slight crookedness in his nose. And those grey eyes reflected only warmth. She only thought Seth leveled in beauty.
God. Why am I comparing two guys now?
