Chapter 2: Bully or Foe?

Seth Harland stared at the retreating back of his roommate until it disappeared out the door. A few seconds later, a smile fought it's way to his lips and he chuckled as an image of the boy's flushed face popped up. That must not be what the guy must have in mind when he would have pictured his first encounter with Seth. But it wasn't his fault, since he hadn't been expecting company when he forgot his towel today.

Thinking about the boy, he crossed the room towards his side, grabbing a towel laying on the bed. Aside from a tangle of brown hair on the guys's head and that he wasn't the usual tall kid, Seth couldn't remember much about the new boy. A warm rush fell over him as those blue eyes that first froze him at the bathroom door, seeped their presence inside his mind. Freaked out by this sudden change in hormones, Seth growled as realisation hit of the word of this incident going around. He quickly changed into his uniform before he had another rerun of the event. He couldn't have the resident homosexuals stalking him. And he hoped too that his new roommate didn't spring up any funny ideas about him. He was already way over his head with one gay friend.

Just peechy. He thought as he exited his room with a louder than necessary bang.

As Alex ran down the corridor, the lockers blurring by as she sped up, she couldn't help but ponder on how her day had started off. Having a clear view of the male genitals, and now she was going to be late for class. She blushed deeply as an image of her roommate floated past her vision. This was certainly not what she had signed up for. Sharing a room with a guy who looked like a runway model wasn't going to be easy. How was she going to keep from reacting like the way she had earlier? Either people were going to start noticing or she would be branded a freak.

As she entered the senior building, she tried to banish all unruly thoughts, and focus on the task in hand. She had always been the average kid; average social life, average looks, average height, which suited her fine until then, but now as she made her way to her locker, she had to pass through a hallway of gigantic, tall trees. That was one way to describe the densely forest she was skipping through. Admist the pushing, flailing of hands and laughter, Alex made it to her destined place and released air, she didn't know she was holding back.

Opening her locker, she found her books as promised, but also remnants of the previous owner.

Must have left in some hurry if he couldn't clean his locker.

Shoving the books she didn't need into her locker, she took out the school map and traced her steps to her first class, praying that her fail sense of direction didn't let her down.

I'm definitely screwed. There must be something wrong with me if I can't find a simple classroom.

Alex's brows sunk in concentration as she tried to pinpoint where she was. The hallway had started thinning of students, and she knew she didn't have much time left to ponder. While she was studying the school map closely for the next turn and too distracted by the fact that she was definitely going to garner attention today by arriving late, she didnt look up until it was too late.

"Wo-aaah!" She fell backwards, landing on her back, with her books and map discarded around her. Alex looked up as an angry voice bellowed.

"Watch where you're going!" In front of her stood a guy, glaring down at her. His head was shaved on both sides, leaving a trail of blonde hair in the centre. His sleeves were rolled up to reveal tanned forearms with a snake coiled on it, and intimating biceps that threatned her. All Alex could do was gulp.

"I'm sor..." Alex began but before she could voice her apology, she was hurled up in the air and thrown against the locker, knocking the oxygen out of her lungs. Two tanned hands kept her in place seizing her collar and the boy's face loomed dangerously in front of hers.

"So you are the new kid," he spoke more to himself. Something flashed across eyes, making the pits of her stomach recoil in fear. "The last one atleast had a will. You would be really easy to play with."

The word play brought nightmares to Alex's mind, and she willed her body to move or try to shield herself. As he released one hand from her neck to form a fist, she closed her eyes to stop the tears that would soon follow.

Only if Al was here.

"That's no way to treat the new guy Max." A heavenly voice broke through her living hell. She followed the gaze of her attacker towards a boy on her right. Her vision blurred once again, but this time due to relief.

"This doesn't concern you Hawk." Max loosed his hold on Alex but didn't move much.

"As the class veteran I think it does. So how about we let the poor guy go?"

A few seconds passed by, as a battle of wills engulfed the corridor, both boy's glaring at each other.

Finally Max smirked, turning towards Alex. "I'll find you soon enough later. And then I'll take my time." On that note he moved away, and his steps echoed with his promise.

"Here you go," the boy hunched over, helping Alex pick up her discarded books. Looking at the map he asked, "looking for Class 11?"

Her throat still raw with emotions, she nodded her reply.

"Go straight, take the second right and it's the third class on your left."

Trying to let it all sink in, she stood up, offering her saviour a weak smile, and headed towards her class.

Did I miss a turn?

Alex cursed herself for not listening properly earlier. Her stay here was bound to be short if she kept this up.

"Lost?"

She turned around to see a guy leaning against the lockers. He had honey brown hair and she could compare his chiseled features to that of any greek god, plus a smooth all year tan. His brown eyes had a tint of humour in them. She must have looked flustered since he asked,

"New kid right?"

All she could do was nod in reply and mumble, "I'm looking for Room 11, Mr Harrison's class?" Thank god he heard her.

"Aah. You missed it. Just go back to direction you came and take a left when you reach the lockers."

Grinning that she finally had an easy route to her class, she sprinted off shouting her thanks over her shoulder.

Chuckling at her enthusiasm, the boy slipped into a classroom door behind him labeled Room 11.

"Just met your roommate." Jason announced as he dropped down in his seat beside Seth.

"And?" Seth drawled, bored. "I assume you made your first move?"

"He is currently running over to the other side of campus. Five minutes before he realises he's pranked and turns around."

Seth snorted a laugh. Predictable.

Nathaniel Hawk was glad that his friend was accompanying him to class. Any other day he would have frowned while Quentin passed his comments and opinions on their other colleagues' physique. But today it was what he needed to cheer him up. And Q was thoroughly enjoying himself too.

As they turned around the corner, he saw the same chocolate brown hair from their encounter earlier brush past him.

Why is the kid still running down the hallways? Didn't I point him to class earlier?

While Nate turned to stare as the guy jogged to Room 11, Q proclaimed excitedly, "Who the hell was that hottie?!"
