*2 week's later*

  I wake up as I began to get ready for the day, over the last 2 weeks, i've really gotten to know Hide, like how he prefers action books and shows an interest in ghouls. So right now I am walking with Hide around the school.
      "Ok, so would you read a book about Spider-Man or ghouls?" I asked as we continued to walk.
      "That's a hard one....maybe ghouls." He said.
        "Wow, you must really have an interest in them." I said.
         "Yep." Was all he managed say, before he stopped. He then took off running.
          "HUH!? YOU CAN'T JUST LEAVE ME HERE!" I yelled as I chased after him, he then jumped onto someone, only to realise that it was the one and only Kaneki, I then joined in by squeezing Kaneki.
       "You big idiot." I said as I let go of him.
         "Mira?" He asked as confusion spread across his face.
        "The one and only, while you were gone I've been watching over mister child over there." I said as I pointed at Hide.
          "HEY!" Hide yelled as I began to laugh, we then started to walk. Hide and I walked in front of Kaneki, while he was quiet. Hide then stopped and turned his head a little.
     "Hey, your acting different." Hide said, Kaneki then froze as a worried expression crossed his face.
      "You look sick, you need to eat more, it's not good for you to not be eating." Hide said.
       "Yeah, especially since you just got out of the hospital." I said. Kaneki then smiled.
         "Yeah ok, sorry." He said as we continued walking, Hide then got a text from someone and told us to tag along. We then walk to the person's room and we stopped before entering.
       "By the way, this guy's not that bad, he's helped me out and he's been here for a couple of years." Hide said as he pushed open the door.
      "Hey Nishio." He said, we then here a girl scream, and it turns out the guy we were supposed to see was makeing out with his girlfriend, she then ran out of the room.
     "Creep." I mumbled as we walked in.
      "Sorry man." Hide said.
      "Nah it's ok....how much of her did you see." He asked.
        "I didn't see anything." Hide said, The boy then looked over to us.
       "Oh, guys this is Nishki Nishio, and he's been helping me out." Hide said as he introduced us to Nishio.
       "Oh and Nishio, these are my friends, Mira Hisaki and Ken Kaneki." Hide said as he pointed to us, I gave a small wave as Kaneki tensed up. Nishki then gave a weird smile towards Kaneki.
         "Hide's talked about you guys a lot." He said as he walked up to Kaneki and whispered something into his ear, when he backed away Kaneki looked worried and scared, I didn't know why, but I really didn't care at the moment. Nishki then went through a box.
    "So Kaneki you in any clubs." Nashki asked.
     "No not really, I don't do good in big groups." Kaneki said.
       "Your nothing like Nagachicka, he's really out going...what about you Hisaki, you in any clubs?" Nishki asked.
       "Yes I am, i'm actually in the same club as Hide and the book club." I said.
        "So you like to read." Nishki said.
      "Wouldn't hurt to crack open a good book once in awhile." I said.
       "Huh, so your out going to, I thought that since your the new girl that you'd be shy and stuff." Nishki said.
        "Well, had to make a good first impression my first day." I said.
        "Well that's good....crap." he said as he stopped searching through the box.
       " I think that I left it at home." Nishki said.
         "Oh, really." Hide said a little disappointed.
          "It's ok how about you come with me and we can go get it." Nishki said.
      "All Right, sorry guys gotta go, I'll catch up with you later." Hide said, Kaneki then tensed up once more, as I started to get a chill down my spin.
     "Hey can I tag along, I have nothing to do." Kaneki said.
      "I would like to come to." I said as I gave him a small smile.
       "Sure, only if it's ok with you Nishiki." Hide said as he turned to face the boy who was pushing his glasses up to the bridge of his nose.
      "I don't mind, come on let's go." He said as we all walked out of the door we are all walking along the street, and I couldn't help but watch how Nishiki was acting. He acts so normal, there's no way that I can find out he's a ghoul, the only way I can is to fight him, but he seems so normal. We then stop at a little food stand.
     "You guys want any." Nishiki asked.
       "Sure." Hide said.
       "I don't mind." I said.
         "Uhh...I....sure." Kaneki said, Nishiki then paid and handed us our little fish treats, we all took a bite, well except Kaneki.
      "This is the best one I've ever had." Nishki.
       "It is, thank you Nishio." I said as I continued to eat. We all then look over to Kaneki who didn't touch his food at all.
        "Your not going to eat?" Hide said.
       "Huh, no, I'll eat it later." Kaneki said as he put the treat into his bag and we continued to walk. What's wrong with Kaneki, he hasn't been eating, and he's been distant from us, he's been like this ever since the....GHOUL ATTACK! Is Kaneki a ghoul, if so, how did he become one?
       "It's a little more this way." Nishiki said as we entered an ally way, he then stopped,
    "Hey man what's u-" Hide tried to say, until Nishiki kicked him into a wall.
       "HIDE!" I yelled as I pulled out my sword.
       "AHHH!" I yelled as I drove my sword into his shoulder, not caring that Kaneki was watching, I knew he was a ghoul, I should've killed him. He screamed in pain as he clutched his shoulder.
      "YOU BITCH!" He yelled as he grabbed me and threw me towards Hide.
      "Mira." Hide whispered.  
       "Hide." I said, as relief washed over me.
       "Just pretend your knocked out so he'll leave us alone." Hide said.
        "Ok." I said as I pretend to be knocked out, I could here there muffled voices, then I heard someone walking towards Hide.
      "How about I kill your friend, he sure looks like a good meal." He said. I opened my eyes a little to see him putting his foot on Hide's head and then stomping, stomping and kicking until blood came out. DAMMIT! I can't do anything, I should've killed him!
He then stopped when Kaneki attacked him and he brought out his Kuagane as he stabbed Nishiki over and over again, sending blood everywhere. I knew it, I knew he was a ghoul. He stopped as he looked over to Hide. He then started mumbling to himself.
     "HE DOES LOOK LIKE TASTY MEAL!" He yelled as he got closer to Hide, I then found all of my strength and pushed myself up, I grabbed my sword and stood between Kaneki and Hide.
     "Your not gonna lay a finger on him." I said, Kaneki then started to laugh as someone yelled.
     "GO AHEAD EAT HIM! BUT JUST KNOW IF YOU DO, THAT YOU'LL BE THE MONSTER YOU DON'T WANT TO BE!" Touka yelled, I turned to look at her with hatred in my eyes. I then started to attack Kaneki, while Touka watched.
      "AS LONG AS YOUR ALIVE YOU'LL NEVER STOP LETTING THE MONSTER FROM WITHIN CONTROL YOU." I yelled as I jumped into the air and landed behind him, I then kicked him in the side, as I sat on top of him with my sword above my head.
       "And because of that.....YOU MUST DIE!" I yelled as I started to bring my sword down to his face, but I stop when my sword was inches away from his eye. I don't know why I stopped I just did.
        "WHY DID YOU STOP!" Touka yelled.
         "I...don't...know." I said between breaths, letting Kaneki take advantage, so he used his Kuagane stab me in my stomach, causing me to cough out blood and fall over, as I clutched my stomach, the last thing is saw was Touka jumping down and attacking Kaneki. And I fell into a pit of utter and complete darkness.

*11 years ago*

I lived a happy life, it was just me my mom and my dad. My father worked at a company, and he made a bit of money, he was a kind man, tall a broad shoulders, he had black hair with golden eyes. My mother was a teacher who also enjoyed reading, along with my father she was very kind and caring, she had blonde hair and deep blue eyes and her name was Kira while my father's name was Tedashi.
     "Mommy...play with me." I begged as I pulled on my mother's arm.
       "Hold on sweetie, daddy and I are working, well be there in a moment." She said as they continued to work, once they were done my father carried me on his back.
      "Gidde up horsie!" I yelled as he speed up.
       "Sheriff Mira, I need your help." My mother said as she pretended to be in danger.
       "I'll save you." I said, and the entire night we played and played. At least that's how I wanted that night to go, but  it didn't, instead it was utter hell that night, people were running and screaming as the ghouls attacked every one.
      "Mommy, i'm scared." I said as tears ran down my cheek. My mother then caressed my cheek as she wiped my tears away.  
       "It's ok, you'll be ok sweetie, we won't let anyone hurt you." She said, at that moment a ghoul found our hiding spot and was know towering over us as a grin widen on his lips.
        "Oh, a mommy, a daddy, and a little girl. Now this is a meal." He said as he brought his Kuagane out. My father then grabbed a knife and ran towards the ghoul.
      "I WON'T LET YOU HURT THEM." He yelled as he tried to attack the ghoul, but failed once the ghoul pierced his stomach.
       "DADDY!" I cried out.
         "NO!" My mother yelled as she charged at the ghoul, only to be meet with the same fate my father meet.
     "MOMMY!NO!" I cried out, I was expecting for the ghoul to come after me, but he didn't, when I looked up he was gone, I then ran over to my parents side.
     "Mommy....daddy." I whispered as more tears poured out of my eyes.
      "Mira....run." my mother said, as blood trickled out of her mouth.
        "But mommy...I can't leave you here." I cried out.
        "Please Mira." She said.
         "But mommy." I cried out.
         "MIRA! You have to run, run and don't look back, do as I saw. NOW GO!" My father said, I cried as I got up and ran, I ran as far as I could away from all of the screaming and crying, until I stopped and leaned against a tree and fell to the ground and cried.
       "No...mommy.....daddy." I whispered as I continued to cry until I heard foot steps coming my way, I look up for my deep blue eyes to be meet with black eyes with a red iris in the middle. I closer my eyes expecting to be eaten but instead a hand was patting my hair.
       "It's ok..I won't hurt you." He said. I looked up to the man, he had blonde hair, and he looked to be about 19 or 20. I looked at him with shock written all over my face.
      "Your not....gonna eat me." I sniffles as I wiped my tears away.
        "What!? No, i'm not that kind of ghoul...so where's your parents?" He asked. I looked down, which gave him his answer.
      "I'm sorry, uh my name is Hioko." He said.
       "I-I'm Mira." I said as I gave him a small smile, he then smiled back at me as he bent down.
      "Tell you what, how about you come live with me, I'll protect you, and I'll teach you all you need to know about ghouls so you can survive." He said.
        "I would like that." I said, he bent down so I could climb onto his back. He then got up and started to walk away from my burning town.
       "I'll protect you Mira....don't worry." He said as I drifted off to sleep.

*4 years later*

   I was walking with Hioko down the street after we went out to get groceries. I liked living with Hioko, he was my big brother, and I learned a lot about the ghouls and how they blend in with the humans, Hioko also taught me how to use a sword, but i'm not that very good at it yet.
     "Hey Hioko, when I get older, i'm going to protect the ghouls, ya know, protect the good ghouls from the humans, and protect the humans from the bad ghouls." I said as we walked the streets of Mito.
      "Haha. You sure will Mira." He said as he began to laugh some more.
       "What's so funny." I said as I puffed my cheeks up.
          "Oh nothing." He said.   
          "Hey Hioko, race you." I said as I took off running. I could hear him running after me while calling my name, I wasn't watching were I was going, and I ended up in an ally way surround by ghouls.
      "Hioko." I said as I looked back.
        "Looks like your all alone little girl." One ghoul said, all of the sudden he aimed his kaguane at me, I braced for impact but it never came, I looked up to see non other than Hioko and his colorful kaguane, he was a high speed ghoul, his kaguane looked like wings and were blue with a hint of purple.
     "Hioko." I whispered, he then looked at me with a smile on his face.
       "Leave her alone." He said.
       "Your protecting food." One ghoul said.
         "Yep, so if you want her, your gonna have to get through me." He said as he attacked all of the other ghouls, I watched as he ripped one's head off and another's arm off and blood flew everywhere as he killed all of the ghouls. He looked at me as I heard people running our way.
     "THERE OVER HERE!"
      "LETS GET THEM!"
I then turned to see CCG investigators facing us, Hioko stared in fear as he got into a fighting stance.
       "He's got a kid." One yelled.
       "Attack!" Another yelled as they charged at us. Hioko then turned to face me as he threw sharp blades at the CCG.
       "Hioko." I said as tears ran down my cheek, he then used his thumb to wipe away my tears, at that moment he had a sword piercing his stomach.
       "HIOKO!" I cried out, he then fell to the ground.
       "Mira....run." he said as he got back up and kept on fighting, I followed his order and I ran, but looked back for one moment, only to see the CCG decapitate Hioko and his body falling to the floor, I covered my mouth to hold back the screams and I ran without looking back, I lost everything, I have no one, they took him away. Everyone will pay. And since then I was on my own, I was lucky to get into a school were I studied hard, but that didn't push away the darkness and hatred crowding my heart, I trained and trained, letting darkness surround my heart, and to this day it still does.

*Present day*

I woke up to light hitting my eyes, I slowly got up to realize that I wasn't in my bed.
      "Don't move so fast, your ok."
I look up to see Kaneki and the manager of Anteiku standing at the door way, I look down to see Mr stomach wrapped up, I then glare at Kaneki, and I look around for my sword, but it wasn't anywhere.
       "I don't suppose you are looking for this." He said as he held my sword up.
         "Give it back." I growled. He then gave me a small smile.
        "Don't worry we don't want to hurt you, just tell us who you are, one of my employees has faced you a couple of times, and she sees you as a threat." He said.
        "Oh, you mean your little rabbit, yeah, so what, I didn't kill her, so you shouldn't be worried about me." I said.
        "I know, but I would like to know more about you, you seem to know a lot about ghouls." He said, I then sighed as I looked out of the window.
        "When I lived in Mito, it was just me, my mother and my father, they were good people, and we had a great life, until our town was attacked by ghouls, my parents sacrificed their lives for mine, so I ran not looking back, and I sat in the forest, until a man came, his name was Hioko and he was a ghoul, instead of eating me he took me in, he taught me how to fight with a sword, and he taught me everything I needed to know about ghouls,like how they pretend to eat and how they try to blend in, but on day I was a big idiot, I was so stupid, I ran off, trying to race Hioko, but I wasn't watching were I was running and I was surrounded by ghouls, I thought I was a goner until Hioko came and killed them all...then the CCG came, and they thought that he was hurting me, he protected me and told me to run, so I did....but I looked back....and what I saw was....the CCG decapitating him....I can never forget what happened that day, I went to school, but had no home, I trained myself to kill ghouls and CCG investigators....I will never forgive them, they took away the only family I had left...and now....I have nothing left." I said while trying to hold back the tears.
        "Well, I'm sorry to hear that...but know this, I know that you have light in your heart, and you are welcome to visit us as long as you want."  He said as he walked out of the door, but before he left he looked back at me.
      "You can call me Yoshimura, and I will he here if you need anything." and with that he left, so it was just Kaneki and I, he then walked up to me and sat on the edge of the bed.
       "Why didn't you kill me?" He asked.
        "Because, Hide would've been upset if you died." I said.
         "Mira i-" he tried to see, but I cut him off.
         "And if you tell Hide what I do or if you try to eat him again, I will not hesitate to kill you, do you understand." I said.
         "Ok, I'll be down stairs if you need me." He said as he left the room, once he did I got up and threw on some deniem shorts and a pink crop top, I slipped on some sandels and left my hair the same, and with that I walked out of the room and down the stairs, I saw Kaneki washing some cups, and Touka talking to Hide. Hide then looked up to me and smiled.
      "Hey Mira, how ya feeling." Hide asked.
       "Fine." I said.
       " Well come thank Touka, she found us after the car crash." Hide said.
         "Car crash?" I said, I then looked at Touka who gave me a death stare.
          "Oh yeah, thanks." I said. I then looked outside to see that night has taken over.
         "Well I better get going. See you two at school tomorrow." I said as I walked into the night streets of Tokyo, I then got home, and once I did I threw myself on my bed and drifted off to sleep.
Well today was utter hell, now Kaneki and Yoshimura know my past, and Kaneki is a ghoul, but how is that possible, he was human before and know he's a ghoul, what's going on here?
