Eleven: The Host
Many people think that they can get away with things, and most do. But after seeing what someone very dear to me has done, I've decided to play ghost and get payback. Justice shall be served, and perhaps as a bonus, some of these wretched souls will see how terrible their ways are and have a change of heart.
And if they don't, I can always do this world a favor by eliminating them.
In the parlor, more commonly referred to as the drawing room, the Players continue to argue. How amusing that they think I cannot hear every word they say!
It was most pleasing to watch Elizabeth break down in her rival's arms and to see that everyone is now suspicious of Samantha Long.
I am very curious to see what they are going to try next.
"Guys, we can't keep doing this," Jennifer says, but it seems that her words are lost over the loud clamor of those in the room.
What is she up to?
"Hello?" she asks. I can tell that she is getting frustrated. With a large sigh she brings her fingers to her mouth and blows. The sudden noise startles poor Otto, and everyone in the room goes silent.
Oh, poor Otto! Such trauma comes from what his parents had done, but I can't say I feel sorry for him. What he has done might be worse than how his mother tortured him. I'll bet he still feels those burns though.
That's okay.
I still feel the flames that tried to engulf me the day someone attempted to take my life. They're burning deep into my flesh as I curse the name of someone I once loved; someone I gave life to.
Only for them to try and take mine away.
The world knows just what kind of monsters are out there and I regret that I've created one. At the time, it wasn't like I was Frankenstien, but later on the enemy had gotten to her, making her their own little monster.
They had gotten to my baby and brainwashed her, turning her against me and all that is good.
Now they, and all the others, including their offspring, shall pay.
I'll make sure of it.
"Did you have to whistle so loudly?" Jason groans, rubbing his temples with his two forefingers. Oh, if only the others knew what secrets he harbors. Now that's an entertaining thought.
"Yes," Jennifer replies before moving to stand atop the coffee table. "Listen up, y'all!" Her light voice bounces across the room like the voice of an angel singing in the heavens, captivating her audience.
You fools. Do you know who you're dealing with?
She will be their demise, I tell you. Just you wait and see. That girl knows how to use a knife and isn't afraid to demonstrate.
Jennifer waits until all eyes are on her before she begins to speak.
"We can't keep fighting like this. Fighting won't get us anywhere! If we want to get out of here alive, we've gotta work together to find an exit!"
Oh Kelser. If only I can read your thoughts!
"And how do you suggest we do that?" All eyes turn to where Katarina stands in the shadows, holding a cigarette.
Ugh! I hate smoking. Don't these young people know how terrible it is for their lungs? I'm almost tempted to put it out myself, but even an idiot would know that isn't a wise idea.
"Oh, so now you all notice me," she rolls her eyes. "The immensity of this estate would make it very difficult to navigate it without becoming lost again."
At this, Jennifer smiles. "Which is why we'll be marking the doors with this!" She holds up five pieces of chalk. So she has found where I had put those. I didn't think someone would actually look inside the coffee table, but Jennifer is different from the others.
The girl may be the youngest of the twenty of them, but she is much more observant than the others think she is. I know that I must be wary of this, but perhaps I can use this knowledge to my advantage.
"So, what?" Sabine says. I've almost forgotten about the French woman who favors poison over knives and blood. Too bad it won't be her that's responsible for the first death. "We walk around this mansion and label the doors with chalk, hoping that no one will sabotage our work? Yeah, great idea."
Looks like Sabine has some sense. That isn't always a good thing.
So many of the world's worst villains were in the shadows before people started to notice them.
For example, Adolf Hitler was someone hardly anyone paid attention to. Then he started to use people's fear against them and get them riled up. Hitler became such an influencing speaker that he eventually rose to the top and became the dictator of Nazi Germany.
And you wonder why I fear those that lurk in the shadows. The ones that seem to be invisible are always the ones who are the most cutthroat and will do anything to get what they want.
Like me.
Except, what I'm doing isn't evil, but for the common good.
I have no idea why my spouse left me. Honestly, I bet they just didn't want to be responsible for the change that I was trying to make in the world. I bet they never really loved me. Till death do we part? Like hell!
And my mother warned me that the marriage was going to be sour.
Oh, it was more than that, because they took part in creating that wretched child of ours. At least the other one turned out okay. She's probably home alone right now wondering why all the people she loves have left her.
"Fair enough," Jennifer says. "This is why we are going to make a pact not to mess up any markings."
"A pact? Really? What are we, three?" Amelia says, crossing her arms.
That girl is interesting. She tricks others so easily, all while revealing nothing about herself. It is quite surprising nobody has found out what she is doing yet, especially that Felix de Vanily. He is smart, but not smart enough, it seems.
"Why would someone sabotage us? We're all working towards a common goal!" London looks at the rest of the Players.
That Presley boy is smart. He has to have brains to do the horrible things he did, as he managed to con an entire fashion brand into hiring him at the expense of another model being fired for a crime they did not commit.
Talk about not letting anything stand in your way.
"You know why, you idiot!" Elizabeth counters, throwing her hands up in the air. "You are a cheat and disloyal piece of scum! I should've killed you when I had the chance!"
Ah! I just love it when they argue, don't you? It's so entertaining to watch them point fingers, ironically the very thing that Jennifer was trying to avoid by not telling them about the crest.
Too bad Chase let the cat out of the bag. Don't worry, Jennifer. The Kat will get back at him, you wait and see.
A death is already in the works. Slowly, someone is dying from the inside; from a poison that now courses through their cursed veins.
I am very much looking forward to seeing who will find the dead body, and who will be to blame.
You never know with this group. I guess you can't predict everything.
But mark my words, if there are things that can be controlled within the walls of this estate, I will control them. No one will get in the way of me bringing justice to the world and changing villains into heroes.
"K-Kill me?" Presley sputters. "What have I done? I had to tend to one important matter, and you still hold it against me that I wasn't there in London?"
Elizabeth strides over to where he stands, quick and quiet, until she is nose to nose with him. "This is about more than London and you know it!" she growls.
Ooh! This is starting to get good! Too bad I cannot have popcorn from my wonderful perch. It'd make the computer keys all buttery and I can't have my cameras malfunction because I was eating around them, can I?
Yes. There are cameras in this mansion.
It's so I can watch their every move.
"Oh, so what then? Paris?" London leans back. "You hold a grudge for no good reason, you know. Just let it go."
The woman before him shouts in what seems to be anger. And frustration. No, scratch that. Annoyance. Definitely annoyance.
"Stop! Do you all see what this mansion is doing to us? We need to get out and move on with our lives, even if some of them are rather wretched."
Oh Jennifer.
Poor, innocent, Jennifer.
They will never stop. It's about time you realize that, girly!
Sometimes I really wish they could hear me, but that would reveal my identity, and where's the fun in that?
"Now," Jennifer continues. "I am going to look for a way out of here. Who's with me?"
A single person steps forward. "I am. I can't stand to be in a room with you people." Chase makes a move for the door.
"Anyone else?"
Slowly, one by one, they all reluctantly step forward.
I get to play cat and mouse? Finally! I was wondering when they'd actually try and make a move to escape. They can try, of course. I won't let them escape me and my Game so easily.
May the best Player win.
