I didn't get much sleep.
I fell asleep around midnight but kept being awoken by nightmares.
I lie in bed staring at the ceiling. My alarm rings and I sit up. I click the off button and head downstairs.
Mom is making breakfast when I come into the kitchen. "What happened last night?"
I look over at her and shrug my shoulders. We eat breakfast in silence. I look at the clock. "Better get ready for school."
"Love you!" Mom calls after me as I bound up the stairs.
Once ready, I sling my bag over my shoulder and head out the door, walking down the street in the direction of the school.
I take a shortcut through the park. Off to the side I see some little kids, too young for school, playing in a sandbox.
Suddenly, the world starts to flash and then it goes black. I spin around in the darkness. Then it lights up like someone flipped a switch.
I'm still in the park, but something was different. It looked darker, faded.
I see a different kid. A young girl sits under a slide.
It is Maria.
I run over and crouch down in front of her. "Maria? It's me, Oliver," I look her in the eye. She's  terrified.
"Hey what's wrong?" I remember the thing I saw when I was in her bedroom," Is there something after you? Are in trouble? Answer me! Please!"
Maria looks everywhere where but me. She is breathing fast and her eyes are wide. "Maria!" She finally meets my eyes. For a moment, she seems clam. She looks just over my shoulder and screams.
It's an awful, bloodcurtling scream. Just like the one I heard last night.
I look behind me into the trees.
There is something there. It's like a shadow of a person, standing at the tree line.
"It's alright," I tell Maria,"You're safe with me. Come on."
I reach out for her and the world goes black. "Maria!" I scream into the dark. "Maria!"
The switch flips and I'm lying on the wet grass. A woman stands above me. The morning sun is blinding after being in the weird fog.
"Are you okay kid?" I sit up and look around. Maria is nowhere in sight.
I nod slowly. I look at the trees and see no one.
Everything hurts.
I slowly stand and start walking in the direction of to school. I stop, Should I go home? Is something wrong with me?
Looking back at the lady, I ask, "What happened?"
She shakes her head," I don't know really. You were walking then you stopped. Then, then you just collapsed. Oh and you kept saying something. I couldn't really hear. It sounded like a girl's name. Mary maybe?"
I nod. "Are you sure you're okay?" I nod again.
I murmur a thanks before I turn and continue walk to school. What's happening? Why am I seeing stuff? Am I going insane? I keep asking myself these questions until I get to school.
The bell rings as I reach my locker. I grab my books and run to class.
