. flashback .

"She's been gone for a week. I don't feel good about this." Shoto says as he nervously tapped his foot.

His eyebrows creased in worry, his narrowed eyes showing worry.

Midoriya and Iida tries to comfort.

But their words of concern went deaf to the dual-haired boy.

"Father." He whispered under his breath.

Surprising his friends, he bolted out to find Endeavor.

The poor boy never realized how much of a mess he would be without you. He was too caught up with the feeling of warmth your touch gave him that he forgot to consider what would it be like if you'd left him.

And now there he stood, in front of his father at his office.

"What do you want, Shoto? I'm busy." The hero proclaimed.

Though Enji Todoroki could not deny that he was caught off guard by the look of his son's face.

"Y/N. Where is she? What did you do?" Shoto frowned.

His father glared at him back.

"If this is about that girl again, I won't waste my time—"

"She's missing." Shoto blurted out.

Enji's eyes widened for a moment before going back to a stoic face. "...For how long?"

"A week. You did something, didn't you?"

"I haven't. And it's good to know she left you. I assume she finally realized that she's an obstacle of you pursuing your dreams."

He shouldn't have said that. For it was as dangerous as fueling gasoline with fire.

"Oh shut the fuck up." Shoto scoffs, shaking his head at his father. "I'm done playing doll with you."

Surprised, Enji's breath hitched. "What?"

Oh how the man regretted his words. He should've realized how precious you were to his son.

Blood boiled through Shoto's blood.

"The only reason why I put up through your number one bullshit is because of Y/N. But she's not here, yeah? So what's the point? I quit."

Endeavor rose from his seat as tremendous amount of aura oozed from him that would've made someone go nervous.

"Don't you dare drop out of UA."

And although his shadow towered Shoto's figure, the boy couldn't give a damn.

Enji continued, "You're still overwhelmed. Think clearly, Shoto. If you were to drop out, how do you think she would take this?"

Shoto felt nauseous after hearing the words his father spoke. The nerve of his old man to use you as his weakness was disgusting.

"Don't talk like that as if you know her." He glared.

Though Shoto understood his father's point. How you would feel if he'd stop pursuing as a hero.

The father-son duo shared a moment of silence before his father spoke.

"The girl is still alive, boy. Remember that."

That was the only hope your lover clinged unto. The only petal left of his wilting flower of sanity.

"But why did she leave...?" Shoto's voice cracked, sadness shadowed his look.

For the first time, Endeavor felt his heart ache.

Seeing his son's eyes go dimmer—his lips wavering like that of a frightened child.

What was he so scared of? Enji wanted to ask. Was he scared of losing you? Of seeing you lose feelings perhaps? He had no clue. And he may never know considering the amount of roaring pride he has.

That was the very moment he realized you were his spark.

In this critical time of Shoto's life, you were most needed—no, rather—the only one he needed.

A fatherly sense filled him—telling the man to hug his son. Though his haughtiness suppressed it.

"Continue to be a hero. And I'll find her." Was what his father declared.

And thus their conversation ended.

Be that as it may, none was able to decipher where you went.

Not even realizing it himself, Shoto felt his will to live slowly vanish.

The thought of you dead, or being in another man's arms killed him over and over again.

Each day, an empty shell would he slowly resemble.

Anger and resentment filled his entire being.

Until his birthday came by and a phone rang.

"Shoto?"

A sweet melody of joy and wamrth filled his soul—his heart.

He didn't even need to ask who was the person behind the other line.

Your voice was his heartbeat. As you, yourself, was his entire heart.

As soon as he heard his name bubble from your lips, the darkness that had been piling up in his heart melted away like salt in water.

Silent tears fell from his eyes like a waterfall.

Shoto wanted to respond, but it took him moments to regain his senses.

'... I think... Something similar happened in the past...' He thought.

When his head felt hazy and the only thing he could hear was the loud drumming of his heart.

The first time he felt warmth. It was foreign.

It couldn't be compared to that of Spring's first ray of sunlight in the morning.

And only one person came into focus.

That's right, it was that day...

When he first met you.

The uneasiness and anxiety that had been pestering him, disappeared in a second.

He wanted to ask you where you've been. What you have been doing and if you were alright. If he wronged or scared you. Especially if you still love him.

Yet...

"H-have you eaten yet?"

Were the only words that left his lips in a cracked whisper.

. end .

"Shoto. Don't fall asleep while I'm washing your hair." You chuckled.

Foam of bubbles bubbled on Shoto's hair.

He blinked his eyes before looking at you. He wouldn't want to admit it, but bathing with you like this felt relaxing.

"Flower, what exactly do you tell kids before they go to school?" He asks.

When it was his turn to wash your hair, you replied with a chuckle. "Just the normal things."

Today, it would be Shoto's first time sending his sons to school as a father.

"Like what exactly?" He worries.

"Take care, do well, stay safe, be good, behave... Like those!"

"I see I see, noted." He mentally took notes.

Then you turned around to wash his silky hair. "You asked the same thing last night too Sho, don't worry it's just sending them to school."

"My first time though..." He muttered.

Then he added, "But while they're at school, I finally get to take you out to a date again."

A flowery aura bloomed around him as he showed a small but excited smile.

Your heart fluttered, a memory of when he was a kid popped up.

You grinned, lightly pinching his cheek.

Then you played with his hair making it stand up to form cat ears.

"You're still cute after these years Sho, I'm tearing up."

"No. I'm a man." He narrowed his eyes.

Just when you were about to reply, you both heard Shoma shouting outside.

"MOM, DAD HURRY UP YOU DUCKS. LET'S GO!"

"That kid can't wait." You sighed and facepalmed.

"He should learn from me. I waited for 8 years."

"Oh shut it dumb butt."

Shoto rose a brow, smirking smugly. "I have a fine ass."

You laughed, hitting him while blushing red. "You were NOT this flirty!"

"You didn't deny." Shoto's cheeks also dusted pink as he was actually shy.

Moments like these with you were the best.

. . .

Shoto drove inside his car with you three.

The vehicle was bought just a day ago since he insisted that a large, family car is a must.

Shoma kept humming cheerfully. "I'm really happy! How about you Shoichi?"

"You're so annoying."

"Don't worry Shoichi! I understand. You just can't keep your excitement in." Shoma smugly smirks.

He wasn't exactly wrong as well.

It took all of Shoichi to stop being giddy since he would be embarassed if he would.

After all, he looked up to his father not only as a hero but also as a man and as your lover.

"Excited for what, now?" You scoffed.

"Our super cool dad is driving us to school with a super cool car!" The youngest giggled.

"Aww~ A super cool dad."

You turned to Shoto with a teasing face as your lover simply looked away and cleared his throat.

"Th-this is nothing..." He muttered shyly.

As the car parked to a stop, Shoto went out first before opening your car door making you thank him with a kiss.

Then he opened the back seat door where the kids hopped out.

Shoichi went out by himself while Shoma jumped at his father, catching him by surprise.

"Take me to the entrance!" Shoma exclaimed.

Shoto smiles before wearing his facemask and cap. "Alright hero, let's go."

You giggled as you took Shoichi's hand.

You four then headed to the entrance, to see your children off.

Remembering what you told him, Shoto hesitantly reminded them a few things.

"You both have to behave in class." He muttered, his caring and fatherly words fluttered.

He was too precious for this world.

"And if anyone tries to bully you, tell them you've got Japan's best heroes at your back." You added.

They both nodded with a grin.

Shoto kneels down to bring Shoma back to the ground.

Before hopping off of his father's arms, Shoma pressed a kiss on his dad's cheek.

"Love you dad, see you later!"

After Shoichi kissed your cheek, he also kissed Shoto's other side of his cheek.

"Bye dad, love you."

Catching Shoto off guard, you laughed.

As the two went off holding each other's hands, Shoto stood next to you with a soft face.

"Flower, I feel... warm..."

"That's affection, love."

Ah, so that was where the warmth came from.
