HERCULEAN BANYAN TREE (@JayRustagi)
HERCULEAN BANYAN TREE
Overlooking the cliff
It stands deep rooted
Since ages bygone,
The Herculean banyan tree.
"Hither it hath been
'ere my father cometh to the village",
Narrates the old man
The tale of his young father.
Nothing but enigma fills the ambient air;
Against the bright moonlight, when none but I
Oft see this bairn swinging high,
Virgin laugh and long red hair.
"For Christ's sake, tell me who you are?", I scream.
Looking at me, the devil smirks, fiery eyes.
Off the swing and down the cliff
She jumps over and over again.
Insomnia debilitates me, hunger consumes
Solitude engulfs me, I'm physically reduced
Profanity stabs me, in the pool of my blood I lay
But it's fear that chokes me to death.
"For Christ's sake, tell me who you are?", he screams at me.
Wailing, breathless, in a pendulum motion
He's hitting his head against a rock.
I smirk and jump off the cliff.
