Chapter 14: A Coma? Sounds Festive!
At the end of the school day, Setuko was sitting in the club room, resting her head on her palm as she listened to the quiet beeps of Kyoya's calculator.
"Looking at the numbers, if this were to continue, I'm afraid we'll have to stop offering our brotherly love package." Kyoya said. "We're down one pair of loving brothers. Oh, Haruhi, I just want you to know there's no reason for you to feel responsible, even if it was your tactless comment that started this whole feud between the twins in the first place, right?"
"Wow, low blow." Setsuko said, looking at him through the corner of her eyes. He knew this was fake, he was just being an asshole.
"I'm just stating the facts." Kyoya said with a shrug as he looked at her.
"Right, I forgot, you don't sugar-coat things."
"It's weird for Hika-chan and Kao-chan to be fighting like this. It's never happened before." Honey said, with Mori nodding in agreement.
"They've never fought before today?" Haruhi asked.
"That's impossible. I mean, they've been together their entire lives and they've never had even one argument?" Setsuko asked, tilting her head. Man, if this really is their first ever 'fight', I kind of have to applaud them on how well they're faking it, especially without any prior experience.
Honey shook his head, "I've known Hika-chan and Kao-chan since we were in pre-school. We weren't in the same year, so I never really got to talk to them, but I remember the two of them always played together."
"Yeah, that's true. I mean, I've only known the twins since they were in middle school, but they definitely stood out." Tamaki said, gazing out the window. "It seemed like they kept everyone at a distance except each other." A slightly amused smile came to his face, "Believe it or now, they were even more warped back then. When you stop and think about it, maybe this fight is a good thing for them. Maybe it means the twins are expanding their horizons a bit. We should leave them alone and let them work it out."
***
How long are they going to drag this out? Setsuko thought, sitting at a nearby window and watching as the twins were, once again, throwing things at each other. Hitting the other with the soft objects and somehow missing with the harder ones. She had planned on getting a nap since club activities were suspended but it looked like that wasn't going to happen. Eventually the twins had thrown everything that was laying around in the room, and it was piled up behind them, with Honey sitting innocently on top.
"Don't you guys think that maybe, it's time you give up all this fighting? It's driving me insane!" Tamaki said, a look of annoyance on his face.
"What'd you say? It's driving you insane? You've gotta be kidding me- how do you think I feel right now?" Hikaru said, then he looked over at Kaoru, "Every time I look in the mirror, I see his face. I'm sick and tired of constantly being mistaken for you, Kaoru! The truth is I hate your guts!"
"You took the words right out of my mouth. In fact, I hate you so much I bought this." Kaoru reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a familiar looking wooden doll and a black marker. "Belzenef, the curse doll!"
Tamaki screeched.
"I'm going to complete the curse, Hikaru, I'm going to write your name on his back. From this day forward, you're going to experience nothing, but misfortune and sorrow!"
Before he could finish writing on the back of the doll, Haruhi sprung forwards and punched the both of them in the head, which surprised everyone in the room- even Mori and Kyoya looked shocked. "Will you guys knock it off!? What do you think you're doing? You don't bring something like this into a petty fight! Both of you are at fault here but what's really sad is that you've brough everyone else around you into your big mess! Now apologize to each other! If you don't make up right now, I'm never going to let you come over to my house!"
Bad move, Haruhi. Setsuko thought, watching as the twins glanced at each other then immediately 'made up'. Setsuko just sighed; they were Haruhi's problem now. She moved her gaze from the twins and gazed out the window, watching as some man in a red ball-cap argued with a pair of security guards. Someone who was probably bitter they hadn't been accepted into the school or had some beef with a kid who attended.
She watched as the man made some very... explicit... actions before he looked up towards the school, he was too far away for Setsuko to see any detailed features, but she could see that he was wearing bulky sunglasses. A second later the man shoved his hands into his pockets and walked off, not being seen again.
Setsuko sighed, and let her mind wonder to what she'd be having for dinner that night.

Setsuko looked up at the hospital, her hand tightening around the straps of her bookbag. She took a deep breath and walked forwards, crossing the street and walking through the two front doors and up to the receptionist."
"Hello, are you here to visit someone today?" He asked, looking up from his computer.
She nodded, "Yeah, I'm here to see the Akemi family, is that all right?"
The man smiled and nodded, "They're in room 266. If you need anything, there's a phone in the room."
"Thanks." With that she turned and headed towards the designated room. When she arrived, she stepped inside to see three beds laid out in the room, two on the left and one on the right. There were curtains but they were pulled back, allowing the room to feel more open.
Each bed was occupied by a person, on the left was a woman with long brown hair and freckles decorating her skin. In the bed beside her, there was a man, his black hair littered with strands of white to show hints of his age. He had stubble on his chin but no other facial hair. On the right there was a boy, who looked only a few years older than Setsuko. He shared the man's black hair, and the woman's freckles.
These three people Setsuko knew as her family.
There had been an accident at their house, a gas leak. One night her family were all home, her mom had turned on the stove to start cooking and boom. Up in flames. Setsuko was the only one who wasn't home at the time since she was training, but when she came home, she was greeted with a crowd around her house and blazing hot flames eating up everything she had known. The explosion had caused her parents and her older brother to fall into comas, her mom had fallen into one during the accident, and her brother had fallen as they were heading to the hospital. Her dad had been conscious for a few days after the accident but suffered a stroke that put him into a coma as well. That all happened three months ago. The doctors did all they could to make her family comfortable, but Setsuko knew the talk of... the end of their stay... would be coming soon if they didn't show any signs of waking up soon.
Setsuko sat in a chair that was placed between her mom's and dad's beds, looking at the bed her brother was in. "Sorry for not visiting you guys sooner. A lot has happened since my last visit." Setsuko said, hugging her bookbag close to her chest. She started to talk about everything that had happened, her idol career, the stalker, Ouran Academy, the Host Club, and even each individual member of the club.
"Then there's Kyoya. He's the main brains of the club without him we'd probably fall to pieces. Probably the one I get along with the most, other than Haruhi. All of them are pretty cute in their own way, and a day with them is almost always interesting, even if all I do is want to take a nap." She let out a small laugh as she looked towards the bed in front of her. "Don't worry, Kojiro, I'm not dating any of them, so you don't have to worry." Her arms tightened around her bookbag, and she rested her head on it. "I wish you guys could meet the club members. I'm sure you'd like them." She leaned forwards and rested her head on her mom's bed, looking at her limp hand that was laying at her side. "When are you guys going to wake up, it's already been so long."
She closed her eyes as she felt something wet roll down her cheeks. Removing her hand from the bag she reached forwards and grabbed her mom's hand, finding comfort in the warmth that came from it. She was still alive, just like the others. And as long as their hearts beat in their chests, she would do anything she could to hear their voices again.
"Come on, Setsu-chan, I thought you'd let me watch your practice today! Your big brother canceled his plans with his friends just for you!" A boy said, placing a hand on a younger Setsuko's head and ruffling her hair.
"When did I ever promise that? And since when did you have friends?" Setsuko asked, looking up at the teen boy who had messed up her hair. "And stop messing up my hair!"
"Kojiro, leave your sister alone." A voice called out.
"But mom, she's breaking her promise!" The teen called out with a faux whine.
"I promised nothing." Setsuko said, sticking out her tongue and escaping her brother's grasp, "And I'd prefer that if you didn't mess up the hair that took me an hour to do."
"An hour, sheesh! Why do girls care so much about their hair?"
"The fact that you don't understand is why you don't have a girlfriend yet."
Kojiro placed a hand over his chest, sparkles somehow surrounding him as he pouted. "You wound me."
"Then go to the hospital."
"Not until I can watch you perform. You can't keep me from your practices forever!" He placed his hands to the sides of his head and started to dance, if what he was doing could even be called a dace. "Momo, Momo, Momoko!" He sang out.
Setsuko turned and looked at him with an unamused expression, "Don't make fun of my stage name." She grabbed a nearby pillow that was laying on the couch and threw it at him.
"What did I say about throwing the pillows?" A voice said and Setsuko and her brother stopped and looked towards the entrance to the room, where their mom was standing with a slightly annoyed expression.
"It was either the pillow or the remote." Setsuko called out, "Besides, it's called a throw pillow for a reason!"
"Setsuko, You can't just throw things at your brother when he annoys you, dear. And stop making that face, it'll get stuck that way." She looked towards Kojiro, who was crossing his eyes and sticking out his tongue. He flinched when he was called out by their mom. She sighed and shook her head in slight disapproval, "Setsuko, you'd better hurry, you don't want to be late again."
"Right, thanks mom!" She grabbed her bookbag and rushed out the door, where her manager was pulling up to pick her up. "I'll see you later!"
***
Setsuko blinked her eyes open, seeing that the sun that had been shining through the window had lowered itself in the sky and the blue was replaced with a soft orange glow. She must have fallen asleep. She sat up and felt something fall of her shoulders, looking down she noticed that someone had placed a blanket over her while she was asleep, probably one of the nurses.
"Sorry for falling asleep on you guys." Setsuko said, looking around the room at her still comatose family. "I'd better get going, though, or else Kuwata will freak out and send a search party for me." She let out a soft laugh and got up, grabbing the blanket, and folding it before leaving it on the chair. "I'll be sure to visit you all again soon."
She walked out of the room and through the hallways. As she walked, she pulled out her phone and sent a text to her driver that she was ready to be brought home. She had just stepped on the elevator to go down to the main floor when someone else stepped on, someone who was all too familiar.
"Hello, Itsuki, come to visit someone?" Kyoya asked.
"Yeah... I was just visiting some family friends." Setsuko said.
"I see, that's why you called out of cub activities for the day. And here I was thinking that you were doing so to get some sleep."
"Ha ha, very funny." Setsuko said. "If I did that, you'd find some way to punish me, I'm not that dumb."
"I guess not."
The doors to the elevator opened and Setsuko stepped out, closely followed by Kyoya. "I am curious, why are you here, anyways?" She looked up at him, watching as his mouth curved up into a smile.
"Didn't you know, this is one of my families' hospitals. Even if I'm not inheriting the company my father still wants me to know how everything works around here. Speaking of which, I need to look over a few things before I head out. Have a good night, Itsuki." The elevator dinged and the doors opened, both teens stepping out of the small box.
"Yes, you have a good night as well." Setsuko said, bowing her head slightly before she walked towards the doors, where her driver was already waiting.
