Chapter Four
I stared at the tied up male, waiting for him to awake. I had a bat in my hand, so if he tried to escape or anything, I was ready. Deep down, I knew it wouldn't do much, but it wouldn't hurt to be prepared.
I stepped back a bit as he shifted a bit, but he seemed to fall back asleep. I sighed. My goodness, he's been knocked out for a while.
Taki began scratching at the floor, and I looked at her. She tilted her head at me. I knew she was probably hungry. All of the excitement lately kind of made feeding her slip my mind.
"Taki, watch him for me," I said, and she tilted her head to the other side. My gosh, she was so cute!
Heading out of the attic and downstairs, I rushed to put her food in her bowl. Once I succeeded, I called her down before rushing back up. However, to my surprise, the chair was empty.
Huh? I thought, looking around before putting the bat up in defense. But he was right here less than a minute ago . . .
Looking at the chair, I saw a small sticky note. Walking over to it, I read it, frowning, my confusion turning to anger.
Couldn't stick around. See you at Midnight.
-Jeff
"That little --" I said, but stopped myself. "Wait, midnight? What are we playing? The Midnight Game?"
Picking up the sticky note, I turned it over, frowning when there was more writing.
No, this is not the Midnight game. This is Hide and Seek.
-Jeff
I groaned, frustrated. I'd let him get away just like that. I didn't even get to question him. Thanks to that, I was still slightly scared of him even if he was a human like me.

Drinking the cup of dark coffee, I stared at Taki, who'd taken it upon herself to help herself to my pancakes. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands, and came back to my child devouring my pancakes. Yeah, you can imagine what kind of morning I was having.
"I hope you're enjoying those pancakes," I said, and she looked up at me, licking her mouth before continuing. "I hope you choke on those."
Then, I got up, heading towards the front door. I didn't forget to put the mace in my pocket. How dumb was Jeff to cut off his eyelids? Incredibaly.
Squinting in the harsh sunlight, I headed towards the nearest weapon store. If I was going against a serial killer, the best thing to do was get some . . . necessities.
Walking in, a small bell jingled above my head. I smiled at the welcoming smell I knew since growing up. It smelled like gun powder, metallic, and cleaning product all mixed into one. No, it didn't exactly smell good, but it smelled like my childhood.
"Hello," the man behind the counter said, but I ignored him. I didn't have time to say anything to anyone at the moment. I had to focus on what I came in here for.
First things first, I thought. I'm going to need something to keep him in place. I need a taser.
Heading over to the electrical isle, I began looking around. I wasn't sure that a taser was going to do the trick, but I'd sure as hell try if it meant surviving another day.
Hm, should I get the small ones or the big ones? I thought, examining them. The smaller ones cost less, but the bigger ones can't really do that much more damage, can they? Well, I mean, I'm facing a murderous psychopath. Why would I not get the biggest one? But then and still, I don't want him to see it until time.
"Debating over what you should get?" a voice behind me asked, and I spun around, startled. There stood a guy about 4 inches taller than me. He didn't look much older than I. He had brown hair and light colored skin. He had piercing green eyes that reminded me of a snake. He was dressed as most other teens would be dressed on a Wednesday afternoon: A hoodie, distressed blue jeans, and converse. The skin around his eyes -- also his eyelids -- was dark in color, and it reminded me of Jeff.
"Um, kind of," I said, my voice suddenly quiet. I was on edge. I hadn't gotten much sleep, so you could say I was a bit paranoid.
"It depends on the situation," he said, smiling a bit, but I could tell he was tired. It was obvious. "What's the need?"
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you," I said, sighing.
"Try me," he challenged.
"Okay," I said, but stopped. I couldn't tell him. "I can't tell you. I'm sorry."
With that, I grabbed both tasers and headed to the check out.
