Chapter 1: Necto, Mycetain, and Triastare

Lachlan's POV

"Prince Lachlan, pack up your things for an overnight stay."

Ugh, only two people talk to me that regally in the kingdom. My dad, and my dad's right hand man Agelaos. He says his name's Greek, that's probably why it sounds so dorkish. "Agei, I never go anywhere. So stop pretending I am."

Agelaos sighed. "No, your mother told me to tell you that she, you, your father, and Michael were going to the Mycetain kingdom. She's leaving the Stapletons in charge."

I perked up. Ma doesn't joke around when she's talking about the Mycetain kingdom. It's the biggest kingdom in Minecraftia. And with Mikey coming? "Oh. I'll pack up then," I said, trying to hide the obvious excitement in my voice.

After Agei left, I grabbed my red suitcase with the three fish on it and started packing. An overnight stay? This would be... interesting. Especially since the Mycetainian prince is my age, 12. I've never actually met him before because, like I said, I never go anywhere. As prince of the Triastare kingdom, Ma was always worried that I'd be kidnapped, or killed, or sucked up in a portal to another dimension called Earth. Triastare was even nicknamed the Paranoid kingdom because of the safety precautions we've put down. Hey, it's not our fault there are, like, millions of gangs out on the streets of our kingdom.

After packing my things, I put on my comfy red sweater Ma gave me on my birthday. I headed out of the room and ventured off to my mom's. I knocked on the door. "Ma, I'm ready to go!"

"Go downstairs to the entrance hall! Michael is waiting there for you!" came Ma's reply. "I'll be out in a minute!"

Heading down the, like, one thousand steps on the staircases, I almost ran into Ian. Ian Stapleton, son of General Terrence Stapleton of the Sky Army. Ian, or Ssundee, didn't act as stuck-up as his dad, which is surprising because everyone thinks he's the nature controller of the prophecy. He's also one of the few people my age I get along with.

"Hey Lachlan!" Ian greeted. "You're heading to the Mycetain kingdom, right?"

I nodded. "Yep. Mikey's coming along. I wonder why..."

Ian smiled. "I dunno. Hey, I met the Mycetainian prince last year while visiting Sky. His name's Preston."

I nodded again. "Cool. See ya!" I said, heading down the staircase again.

"See ya." Ian headed up the stairs. When he said he visited Sky, he meant Adam Skylen Dahlberg, who got his nickname for two reasons. One, he might be the prophesized wind master, and two, one of his names is Skylen. So he's got a pretty good nickname for himself.

"Lachlan! Come on, the horses are waiting!"

I smiled. That was Mikey. He was definitely excited. If I was, he was. I slid down the banister of the stairs to get down faster. I landed gracefully on my feet and rushed over to the front door, where Mikey was waiting.

"Come on! Let's go ride the horses for a bit," Mikey said, pulling my arm.

"Hold on. When you're excited you start to act like a five year-old." I pulled my arm back.

"Sorry," Mikey apologized. "But how could I not be excited? I'm going to another kingdom, meeting another royal family, and staying in a palace overnight." Well, he had a point.

"Boys! Get your horses, it's time to go!" Ma and Pa were walking down the stairs, duffel bags slung across their shoulders. Mikey and I smiled as we raced to get the best horse.

Time Skip because a horse ride is boring to write about

"Wow."

"This castle is HUGE."

Mikey and I were currently standing in front of the Mycetain Palace's doors, ready to knock. The doors had to be at least eight feet tall.

"Lachlan, you knock." Mikey pushed me closer to the doors. I cast him a dirty look before pounding on the huge doors.

The doors were immediately pushed open slowly. When they were finally open, you could see who was pushing open the doors. It was a boy with brown hair, black sweatpants, and a black sweater with a white flame design on it.

"Dadgummit... Mom and Dad are upstairs talking with Mannix...." the boy said, panting. "Anyway, I'm Preston Arsement. You must be Prince Lachlan Power," he "royally" announced, bowing.

"Indeed I am," I confirmed, bowing. "And that's Michael, or Mikey. Anyway, can we stop being so regal to each other? It's annoying."

Preston nodded. "Agreed. Come on, I'll show you cactuses around."

"Lachlan, go ahead. We'll catch up." Ma and Pa went to go view the garden, which featured bush sculptures of the king and queen.

We walked inside the palace, but before we could close the door, somebody called out from outside.

"Wait! Don't close the door!"

Preston, Mikey, and I turned around. There was someone else approaching the castle, accompanied by a brown dog. The "someone" was... a bacca in a tuxedo? Weren't baccas almost extinct?

"Don't close the door!" the bacca called. When he got to the door, he took a quick pause to catch his breath. "Hi, I'm Prince Jerome of the Necto kingdom."

We all quickly bowed and Preston introduced us.

"Well, now we just have to wait for three more kingdoms," Jerome said, petting his dog. "Oh, and this is Coco." He gestured to the dog.

"It's freezing. Can we close the door now?" Mikey was standing next to me, shivering. Preston chuckled.

"Sure Mikey."
