Chapter 3 - Technologic

The date wasn't as great as Soul hoped it would be. It was a long process of Black*Star showing off to impress Victoria, Toni refusing to eat and Victoria giggling at everything they did. Soul just sat there, ignoring Black*Star and trying to make an effort to talk to Toni. It was extremely hard in the whole situation though, despite the fact that it was supposed to be a date. After about an hour, Soul had enough and stood up.

"Do you want to go somewhere else? I can't stand this guy sometimes...." Soul asked Toni, who also looked fed up and had taken out her gameboy.

"Yes." Was all she simply replied, turning off the device and putting it back into her bag.

Victoria and Black*Star didn't seam to notice the pair leave, they were too focused on each other. Not that it was a bad thing, Toni secretly had a feeling something similar would happen. It didn't take long for them to be off walking silently. Soon Soul had gently broken the silence with the sweet sound of his voice than Toni was convinced she was in love with. She smiled and brightened up to it.

"So, what do you do when you're not at school? At home and stuff?" Soul asked.

Toni blinked. It was the sudden realization of 'Should I tell him after all?' that had hit her. She was willing to trust him at all costs, so she did.

"I like working on technology. I enjoyed modifying computers and making music files. I like older forms of it too." Toni replied quietly, looking down like she normally would.

"Oh, sounds cool. What about before you moved to Death City, what about your family?" Soul decided to continue the conversation, he didn't have much else to do and he didn't feel like hanging around Maka back at home.

Toni froze. It was like mentioning that changed her personality completly. Her eyes widened and she stared at him immensly. After a few seconds, her expression softened up and followed a light chuckle.

"If you want to tell me something, go. Please." Toni was pleading Soul, it confused him so.

"Why do you keep telling me that then?" Soul asked promptly, leaving Toni to reply with a smile.

"Because I want to help you with what you go through. I want to help others with their problems."

"So you don't have to face your own?"

Toni's face softened even more and it looked as if she may cry. Soul knew he'd done the 'uncool' thing of pushing a girl to her limit. As awkward as always, he wrapped her up in an embrace like no other. What he didn't know is that he'd giving her a feeling nobody had ever been able to give her before. It was warm and amazing, kind of squishy too. It also changed Soul, in a way. He touch was so gentle but he could tell she was awkward with her movements yet so cautious. Soul knew what he had to do, he'd decided this couldn't go wrong. Just one simple hug had brought them to a long loving justice that neither had felt before. The touching moment that only lasted minuets, seamed like a long forever that they wouldn't forget. Toni felt more comfortable, and Soul knew he could finally 'Have it all'. Possibly the one thing the boy wanted out of life. It was close to impossible to feel this with anyone else for them. Toni could have found her answer too, it was quicker than expected.

They knew speaking was necessary in this situation. Soul smiled and Toni nodded as they split their ways. It had become dark, but in those few hours and short gaps something stood out. It was hard to put a finger on, but it was obvious in a way. The concept was still awaiting an explanation, but did it need to be found? Only time could tell this story that could be passed on, yet never told the same way ever again. Such a story one could always count on. Feeling, was determined to be felt forever.

The next morning was breif, but you could see the expressions on both pairs faces. Black*Star had a blush stuck on his face like a bruise. Soul had to brace himself for possibly another sleepless night, but he had that look over his body language that showed he didn't care. Much like Tony often did most of the time. That paticular day she was being more.... social. She said 'Hi' to a few people oh so quietly, but still full of effort. It's normal and easy to drop the causal 'Hi', but this one had feeling and emotion put into it. Answers was all Toni wanted in life, and she was pretty sure she was finding them.

Maka couldn't help but be curious about the strange behaviour of her weapon and two friends, arguably just classmates at times. She tapped Soul's should and he turned to her slowly.

"What's going on with you, Black*Star & Toni?" Maka asked in a whisper.

"Yesterday, Black*Star got a girlfriend." Soul replied.

"That still doesn't explain what's going on with you and Toni."

"You'll fine out, eventually."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

Soul just shrugged and went back to thinking the previous night over and over again. He liked the thought of it, sometimes his thoughts shifted to what would've happened if he actually kissed her but the look in both their eyes had told him different. He was sure Toni was a quieter person, who hid her emotions and wouldn't dare cry in front of someone. Or by herself for that matter, in case someone was watching. He'd figured out quite a bit by just feeling that beautiful soft touch. He also thought having a girlfriend would do wonders for him. Not only would he be especially 'cool', but he'd help her and she'd help him with day to day things. Every second he thought about her, he felt himself become more attracted to the messy teen. He liked the thought of her passing through the day like she did. Her hair was strange, and those dark holes were cute. His old conception of 'beauty' had been thrown away. Soul Evans was in love with Toni now. His heart was beating for her and only her.

Toni curled the sides of her hair by wrapping them around her finger. She was thinking about Soul herself, but they were other thoughts. She wondered if he could adapt to her obsession for wires and technology. She wanted to show him her world, and make it so he could never let go. She liked to think she was apart of the wires in her computer sometimes, and endless warmth and a feeling of shock all the time. She wanted to keep Soul warm in the winter, and she wanted to spent nights outside with him in the summer. She wanted to hold his hand so tight that she'd break her wrist. Sometimes the words she would use meant nothing at all. The world was a confusing place, she didn't quite belong.

Neither Soul nor Toni knew the danger of true obsession, it was all a halucination. In their heads....
