( the prologue will be taken place in season 1)

Lilith chased the goats into their pen before locking it. Her duties for the day were over, and could now celebrate her sixteenth birthday. Her brother went on a hunting trip with the rest of the men, so they would not be together for it.

" Lilith I have to tell you something." Her mother yelled from their door, she walked in and took a seat at the table Lilith followed behind. " what is it mother." Amira smiled and grabbed her daughter's hand.

" you must let me finish before you say anything okay?" Lilith nods as her stomach begins to turn. With a sigh her mother began "you are a bastard my dear." She paused before continuing. "the kings bastard, I was going to wait for your brother but it was weighing on my heart." The mother explained with tears threatening to fall.

Lilith's eyebrows knit together " you told us our father left you to marry someone else." Amira sighed the memories flooding her head.
" he did."

" oh."

" I am really sorry my dear, I understand if you are angry with me." She sighed hanging her head.

" no no mother I am not angry with you, I could care less we have been fine without him these past years so what's the rest of our lives?" Lilith reasoned with her mother.

After the conversation with with her mother, she went to her and Jon's shared room. Her thoughts consumed her until she fell asleep.

Lilith awoke to the sound of screaming, and the smell of smoke. Her mother burst through her door, and turned to close it. " help me block the door." She whispered so low Lilith could barley hear.

They push the dresser up against it and returned to the corner of the room.

" mother what's happening?" Lilith asks in a whisper.

" Danes." The one word was enough for Lilith's heart to drop, and her breathing quicken.

They must had been watching them, cause all the men had left this morning on a hunting trip. She thought as the screaming stopped, meaning everyone else was probably dead.

Lilith clung to her mother's arm, as they heard their front door burst open. Amira looked to her daughter with her finger over her lips. She then pointed to the back window.

"Go." She mouthed causing Lilith to shake her head rapidly. Amira grabbed each side of her daughter head. " you have to get out of here, this is your only chance."

" what about you?" She asked as tears form, before Amira could answer the doorknob began to shake.

" there's someone in here!" Someone said from the other side. They start banging on the door, trying to get in.

" Lilith go now, I'm right behind you." Her mother demanded as she pushed her daughter to the window. Lilith nodded before climbing out and pressed herself against the wall beside the window.

She waited for her mother to climb through but a man walked around the corner spotting her. And about the same time, the man inside had busted through the door.

The man grabbed Lilith's arm harshly and dragged her back into her house. When they walked through the door she saw a man dragging her mother into their kitchen also.

" Mother!" She yelled trying to run to her but the man hold tightened causing her to yelp.

The man who she assumed was the leader turned around with a smirk. He had a tattoo on the right side of his face, his blonde hair stopped before his shoulders.

" I'm Ubba." He said with his arms stretched out dramatically.

" Let us go." She said while trying to escape but was pushed to her knees. " Lilith please stop fighting." Her mother begged, she nodded and stopped.

Ubba stepped closer to Lilith before kneeling in front of her, raising a finger to caress her cheek. " Lilith, very pretty name." He said looking at her lips before continuing. "I could make you mine." But she twitched away from him and spat at his feet. Which he didn't take nicely. He raised up and took a step over to Amira.

" this your mother?" He questioned pointing at her, to which she hesitantly nodded. He smirked while grabbing the top of her dress and ripping it exposing her mother's breasts.

Amira gulped but stood strong trying not giving in to what reaction he wanted. Though Lilith whimpered as she was terrified of what they might do to her mother.

" please leave her alone." She pleaded with him, but he didn't listen. He motioned for the man to push her mother to the floor, as he began to take her.

The man behind Lilith pushed her head back to the scene, when she looked away. He held her head there as Ubba and 5 other of his men took their turn with her.

  Her mother's cry's would never leave Lilith's head. And as she thought it couldn't get worse they made her watch as they cut Amira's throat.

" Noooo!" She screamed reaching out for her mother but it's was too late, Amira's body had fell to the floor as blood spewed from her neck.

The tears had never stopped pouring the  whole time, which she was thankful for because they blurred her vision a bit. But not enough.

Ubba walked to her with a smirk, he grabbed her chin and pulled her closer. " next time you won't be so stupid as to refuse me."

He let go and walked to the door " do what you wish." He told his men, leaving her alone with the same men who took their turn with her mother.

It had been a week since Ubba and his men were at their village, though it felt longer for Lilith. She still laid in the same spot, her dress still torn, her mother's dead body laid a few feet away. 

After Ubba left his men beat and raped her to the point she could not move, when they were done the men must have thought she was dead because they left.

She was sure she was dead for awhile until the numbness went away and her bones began to ache.

She looked terrible, she had dried blood caked over her body, she was covered in bruises, she looked like a twig for she had not eaten in a week.

She had waited for her brother and the other men to return, but they never came.

Horse hooves were heard from her door, that the men had left open. Lilith panicked, trying to get up to hide. But as she did her bones screamed at her to stop. She let out a groan as her ribs ached.

The hooves stopped making Lilith's breathing to quicken, the blood pounded in her ears. As heart thudded in her chest and her hands shook. She had to get away, she could not go through that again.

But it had been to late a figure appeared in her door causing her to let out a cry, and try her best to scoot away but she didn't get far.

" hey hey I'm not going to hurt you." She just shook her head as her heart started beating faster, which she didn't think was possible.

" no." She said closing her eyes accepting she couldn't get away.

" who did this to you." The man asks as he stayed put, understanding she didn't trust him just yet.

She opened her eyes in surprise, he wasn't going to hurt her. If he was he would've when she had given in from trying to get away.

" Ubba and his men, they were Danes." She barely got out as her throat was dry.

The man raised his eyebrows and took a step backwards into the sun, allowing Lilith to get a good look at him.

He was young maybe a few years older than herself, he had long dark hair, and he looked like a Dane - a nice one- but he didn't scare her anymore.

" I have good news for you then." He said with a small smile " he is never going to touch you again, he was killed by a man named Uthred Ragnarson. And his men were killed in battle." He said testing if he could walk forward, which she allowed.

That should comfort her but it doesn't, sure she was glad he was dead but it wasn't comforting.

He sat down on the floor beside her while looking at her mother's body but didn't ask questions. She followed him with her eyes. "are you alright?" He asked looking over her bruised body, noticing her exposed skin he took her cape off and placed it on her.

" I don't know." She replied honestly, she couldn't move her legs.

" I know a healer, I could take you to them." He offered, she didn't care anymore what was the worst that could happen to her after that.

So she nodded and raised her hand. " Lilith." She croaked out while he grabbed her hand, with a small smile. " Sigurd."

He helped raise her up before taking her in his arms bridal style. " do you want to leave your past behind you?" He asked as her placed her into the wagon his men were surrounding. She nodded since her brother had not come for her, she had no more family left.

" I can take you in, train you, you can become a Dane and have a Dane name." He suggested to which she smiled, why was he being nice to her she thought.

" yes that sounds nice."  She replied smiling at the man. " You new name is Serene." He said before smiling and waking away.

That day Lilith became a new person entirely, a new name, a new home, and a new family.

Uhm so I know this is a little bit long but I wanted to fit as much detail as I could.

Anyways so what do you think? I know the SA scene was weirdly written but I'm new to this and I didn't want to write anymore than that.

Also I get my Wisdom teeth removed 4/18/23 so I will not be updating for a few days. And if I do and their awful I really do apologize, I will not be on laughing gas.
