Chapter 33: Kom ihåg

Everything seemed to slow down as I kept my hands on Ayden, his eyes barely opened as his left hand remained holding onto my wrist, but I would see he was slipping away. My head was swimming as I only looked down, feeling dizzy and sick, not noticing that someone had entered through the house door.

"Skyler!" A voice seemed to yell as I felt hands lightly grab at me, my hands slipping from Ayden's chest as the person carefully held me in their arms, my vision dancing wildly making it nearly impossible to see who was holding me.

"They're both losing blood." The voice spoke as my body seemed to be lifted up and set on something soft, someone grabbing at my hand and holding tightly, my fingers curling around theirs.

"Sky, it's going to be okay, just hang in there." The voice said, the tone and softness was fast to my ears, quickly telling me who it was.

"L-uke." I barely got out as a whisper, closing my eyes as a object was placed over my mouth and nose, my breathing seeming to be easier.

"We have to move her now." A voice said, Luke and the other voice spoke before Luke spoke again.

"Sky, don't worry, you're going to make it." He said as the object I was on was lifted, and started to move, my hand seeming to lightly slip from Luke's as I opened my eyes.

My vision had just cleared enough that I was able to see nearly six medics surrounding Ayden, his body also on a gurney as they seemed to be working much faster on him. Cops were everyone as I was carefully lifted out of the door, my eyes just barely noticing Chase being pulled up by two officers, blooding covering most of his face that was near his nose.

I moved my eyes slight as it seemed I was outside, seeing cars surrounding every part of the large drive way, lights flashing and a helicopter in the large field, it's large blades still spinning fast. But the one thing that caught my eyes was the group of people around the back van that was on the side of the house, where nearly six gurneys were all lined. My weak eyes watching as they seemed to lift someone out of it and set them on the first one. Seeing who it was, I blinked, noticing the brown hair of Heath as medics started to check him over as the someone else was lifted out of the van and set on the gurney next to Heath.

But as I watched, the nature around me seemed to disappear as walls slowly started to appear around me, my mind weakly catching on that it was the ambulance.

"This is Bus B65, we need stand by at the hospital for two injured, air lift is on their way with one." The medic said as he lightly took my arm, carefully placing a IV needle in.

I could only grab onto Luke's hand harder feeling the pain go through my body like a hot wire. My eyes closing as Luke spoke to me, his hand going to the side of my head.

"Sky, keep those beautiful blues opened for me alright?" He said, his hand slowly running across my cheek.

I could only weakly open my eyes as I looked up at him, his once brown hair now a dirty blond, his eyes dancing with worry. I could only give a weak smile, unsure if he had noticed it with the oxygen mask over most of my face.

But as I moved my eyes away from Luke, I notice Agent Wolfe rushing over towards us, his bullet proof vest having a bit of blood on it as he grabbed at one of the ambulance doors getting ready to close it.

"Luke, stay with Skyler, I'm going to be leading you so we can get through the highway faster." He said, closing on of the doors shut with a loud bang, my head turning towards him as I forced myself to speak.

"Wh-at about Ayd-en?" I said, my voice weak and low as Agent Wolfe stopped and looked towards me, his eyes showing the same worry as Luke.

"I don't know Skyler, but I promise he's okay." He said, nodding at the medic before he closed the last door, and hit it with his hand, the ambulance lights soon turning on with a shrinking noise.

Agent Spark's POV

The helicopter's blades sliced through the air as the six medics lifted and rushed the nearly unconscious Ayden towards the helicopter, Agent Spark was right behind them, his hair getting moved around from the wind created by the helicopter.

As he got himself inside the machine, he looked over to see the medics locking the stretcher into place, it's orange color already covered in the red blood that the medics couldn't stop. The young criminal was almost like a ghost, and Agent Spark was amazed that he wasn't gone yet, but yet, it was a nightmare just looking at the kid, how he was holding onto the last thin string.

"Agent Spark!" A medic shouted over the loud noise of the blades, Jeff looking towards the medic to see a head set in his heads.

"Put these on!" He shouted, Jeff taking the head set and setting it over his ear, the tiny mouth speaker in front of his mouth.

As soon as the headset was on, he heard the helicopter caption speak through. "Alright, hang on everyone." The man's voice said, Jeff looking over his shoulder and watched as slowly, the helicopter lifted itself off the ground, it's blades picking up speed as it careful came off the ground.

Before long, the helicopter was off the ground and in the sky, flying over the long forest and heading towards the hospital> Agent Spark looking over towards Ayden, his eyes only watching as Medics were all over him, his shirt having to be cut open so they could try to see the damage. It was almost a question how he was still alive. But just as Agent Spark thought that, a loud beeping noise took place causing all six medics to jump up and surround him.

"Heart rate is decreasing. Sir, how far out are we?" A medic yelled. Agent Spark leaning forward to see Ayden, counting how much seconds between each breath.

"Six more minutes." The Captain's voice replied back.

"Come on kid, don't give in on us just yet." The medic said, he moved to the side of Ayden and started to placed bandages over the wound to see if that would help stop the bleed by a little.

The helicopter seemed to pick up more speed as the sound of the blades seemed to block all the noise out. It was nearly impossible for Agent Wolfe to hear through the head set, but as he looked out the side, he noticed the tall building ahead, a large red cross image visible as the helicopter started to close in. The large roof top soon below them as the helicopter started to slowly go down. Jeff then noticed a group of people standing a few feet away, two of them seeming to be dressed a doctors.

"Get ready to move him out!" Agent Spark yelled, the helicopter rocking as it touching the bottom. Jeff wasted no time and pulled the door open, stepping out as the nurses and doctors came over, a gurney right behind them.

As he moved to the side he watched them lifted Ayden Hill out of the helicopter, the boy's black hair covered in sweat. He watched as one of the doctors looked over the bullet wound, the man's face going pale before he yelled at everyone.

"We have to move this boy now, he's not going to make it the next hour if we don't do something!" The doctor yelled, and as soon as he said that, they started to rush Ayden inside.

As I opened my eyes, I was greeted with a nearly blinding light, my eyes quickly closing before I slowly opened them again once more, looking around me. But as I looked around me, everything was white, like there was nothing but white. As I got myself to sit up, I rubbed my eyes, looking around, this had to be a dream.

"Hello?" I said, hearing it echo, and it seemed like it did that for ages, not stopping. I pushed myself up, a painful gasp escaping my lips as I placed my hand at my side, looking down to see a large cut in my skin but no blood.

"What the heck?" I questioned, running my hand over it. It's looked real but yet, it felt not real at the same time.

Slowly, I turned around, nearly jumping out of my skin when I saw a lady standing behind me. Her hair was a chocolate brown as it flowed across her body and ended somewhere along her back. But the one thing that grabbed my attention was her eyes, they reminded me of someone's, I just couldn't think who. Her body dressed in a long white dress that seemed to almost nearly glow as I looked at it.

"Hello." She said, her voice calm.

"Wh-who are you?" I asked, slowly backing up as I looked around, my heart racing.

She only smiled. "I'm Bethany Cook, Ayden Hill's mom." Her voice seemed to freeze and repeat around my ears over again as I just looked at her, not knowing how to think all of this.

"But-but-you-I-Where am I?" I said, getting three words out of all the questions that were running around in my head.

"I can't really say where you are, it's hard." She said, rubbing her wrist as she looked towards the ground. "But what I can tell you is that your body is fighting to stay alive at the moment." She said, seeing my confused expression.

I only rubbed my forehead as I looked her, then looked away, still trying to piece everything together. "But, your dead, how are you..where is everyone else!?" I finally yelled, feeling the tears starting to line my eyes.

"Here" She said, the white walls around me soon turning to a light blue color, and the noise increasing to people shouting.

I looked towards where the shouting was coming from, my feet seeming to take control and slowly move forward, my eyes seeing who everyone was surrounding. It was me, a large oxygen mask over my mouth as a doctor seemed at quick work on my side where the large cut was, his hands shaking.

"What's going on?" I whispered, my eyes staying locked on my own body as Bethany spoke.

"On the way, you went unconscious in the ambulance and your heart rate went too close to the death line. The blade that Maddox cut you with, it cut a blood vessel, and your blood is nearly on almost everyone's hands, including Luke's." She said, her words coming out in a echo.

I lowered my head, trying to figure everything out. "What about Luke? Where is he?" I asked in a soft whisper, looking over at her to see her turn to the side and point towards the door.

I didn't say a word as I rushed towards the door, pushing it open and looking down both the long halls, seeing Luke and a few others down the hall. I moved towards them seeing Agent Wolfe sitting in a chair, his leg bouncing up and down as he had his hands together. Luke was walking back and forth, his hands folded in front of his body, blood covering all of skin on both of his hands. But the one thing that caused me to stop in my tracks was seeing my dad and brother, my dad looking like he hadn't slept in ages. But as I looked at him, a loud noise came from behind me, my head turning around to see a light red light flashing over the room I just came out of.

I quickly moved towards the room, pushing open the door and stepping in as the doctors and nurses seemed like ants, running around.

"Get me the defibrillator now!" The doctor yelled, setting the tools he was using on a tray before taking the defibrillator and getting them ready.

"Clear!" A nursed yelled, and as soon as she said those words, the doctor placed them on my body, my body jerking hard.

The doctor took a step back and looked towards the heart monitor, my eyes following his direction to see why everyone was running around mad, my heart beat was flat, and my body it's self wasn't appearing to be breathing. But as I watched the doctor get defibrillator ready, Bethany was by my side again.

I didn't get a change to say anything before the ER room I was in disappeared, the white walls reappearing as I looked around.

"What? No!" I yelled, looking around, my eyes turning towards Bethany who had her head lowered.

"What's going on!?" I yelled, my echo going on forever once again.

"Skyler, we're running out of time." She said, lifting her head up and looking towards me.

"What are you talking about?" I said, anger burning inside of me.

"You won't remember any of this, but always remember, things happen for a reason." She said, her voice almost like a cold winter breeze as the white walls around us seem to be slowly disappearing.

"What are you talking about!?" I screamed, as it seemed like she was slowly fading, her blue eyes on me as she spoke once more, her voice light.

"Kom ihåg." As those words escaped her lips, everything feel black, inculding my vision.

The sound of faint beeping started to fill my ears, something almost feeling warm on my skin. Slowly, I opened my eyes, a light cream color greeting me as I looked up towards what appeared to be a ceiling. The beeping was slow, but yet it held a good beat to it. I slowly moved my eyes away from looking at the wall towards the other things in the room, one of which was someone who was sleeping on the couch agasint the wall, a blanket over their body kept my from seeing who it was.

I moved my eyes around the room more finally getting the idea that I was in the hospital, two thin tubes shuved up my nose helped my breath. I looked down at me arm, seeing a needle tapped to my arm, a clear liquid entering my body. But as I looked around the room, I heard light voices approching, my eyes looked towards the entrance to see two shadows appearing.

"The docotors are hoping he'll make it through the next two days but like they said, the bullet hit and broke part of his artery so they can't really say anything at this time." One voice spoke.

I turned my head towards the entrance, I saw who it was as they entered, both holding something. Agent Wolfe was the first to enter, a coffee cup in head as he had his head turned towards my father, talking to him as he too entered. Both of them not noitcing me.

Agent Wolfe walked over to the person and lightly touched them, calling their name. "Hey, Luke, got some coffee for you." He said, a groan coming from under the blanket.

I watched as Luke slowly removed the blanket from over his head, his messy hair the first thing that cout my eyes as he sat up. He looked as though he was hit by a run away bus, his eyes half way opened as he took the coffee cup from Agent Wofle, gurgly speacking.

"Thanks." He said, rubbing his eyes.

He took the cup up to his lips and started to ship some of it, before stopping. He removed the paper cup from his lips ans slowly stood up, moving over by the window and looking out it. I didn't know if any of them had seen me awake so I spoke, my voice horrlbe as I did so.

"Luk-e." I said softly, watching as his body turned around in confustion, his eyes looking down towards me before they went large. I only watched as he moved next to me, getting on his knees and placing a hand over mine as I just looked at him.

"What's going on?" I asked weakly, my voice weak.

Luke could only swallow as he moved his hand and placed it next to my head, looking at me with pain. "You've been out for over 24 hours, the docotrs didn't know if you were ever going to wake up." He said, moving his hand and looking towards the ground. Something else seemed to be bugging him.

"And?" I asked, lightly licking my lips.

"Ryan Hill some how got away, they don't know where he is just that he's igured." He spoke lightly, almost like he was afriad.

As he said Hill's name, I moved my eyes away, it seeming almost harder to breath as I just thought of it, the very monster that I thought was finally was gone for good was still running free and possible planning his next attack.

"Sky?" Luke said, my attention pulling from my thoughts as I looked at him.

"What about everyone else? Is Heath okay?" I asked, watching as a tiny smile of hope appearched across his lips.

"Heath and the others are okay. Some of them are still waking up but they are all fine." He said, looking towards the enteracne.

"Do you want me to call your dad in?" He asked.

I wanted to see my dad more then anything but I didn't think I was ready yet so I shock my head no, looking down at my lap.

"Can you leave me for a little?" I asked, seeing Luke's face fill with worry before he spoke.

"Sky, you died for four mintues on me, I'm never leaving your side again." He said, his eyes filling with tears.

I only swallowd, taking his words in when he said them. "Please?" I asked, looking at him as he gave a light sigh before patting my hand and standing up.

"Only for a few, I'm going to tell the others you're awake, okay?" He said, waiting for me to say something but I didn't, Luke only looking at me for a few more seconds before he walked out of the room.

Finally feeling alone, I let the tears fall, bring my hand up and lightly lifing the blanket that covered me off my body so I could see what damage was done. Moving the hospital gown a little, I saw the large red cut, stitches holding it together as the skin around it was red. It was hard to beilieve that that cut almost was the end of me. Lowering the blanket back down, I looked around the room more to get a better look, noticing that there was few ballons along with flowers in the room, but the one thing that cought my attention was a black and blue Teddy bear that set next the bed, it's large black eyes looking at me and what seemed to a rolled up note was tied around it's neck.

But before I could reach for it, I noticed someone enter the room, a tears of joy running down their face as they stopped just inside the entrance. I looked at him before I smiled back, letting him run over and ingolf me with hug.

"Oh sweetie, you have no idea how happy I am to see your face." My dad spoke as he pulled away, his hand brushing some of my hair away from my face as the tears just kept on falling.

I only smiled as I looked past him, seeing Noah enter, his eyes taking a double take on me like he didn't believe it was me before he moved over by our father.

"Hey buddy." I said, watching as his smile grew.

"Hey." His voice quivered as he looked away, rubbing at his eyes.

Agent Wolfe soon walked in, his hands in his pockets as he moved over to the other side of the bed, a smile across his lips before he spoke.

"It's good to see you fully awake, Skyler." He said, nodding his head towards me as I looked at him.

"Thank you Agent Wolfe, for everything." I said, watching as he lightly chuckled.

"I don't get all of the thank you Miss. Oaks, you get most of it, for hanging for so long and fighting. Infact, if you won't of put up so much of a fight, you and all the others could be somewhere in Canada right now with Hill." He said, his words seeming like honey as he only looked at me.

I looked at him before looking back at my dad, seeing him smiling so large, it was something that I hadn't seen in years.

"What about Ayden?" I suddenly asked, looking back towards Agent Wolfe, seeing him look down.

"Ayden isn't doing to well. He's in a coma and there's a low chance of him making it. He went under just as the helicopter reached the hospital." He said, looking back towards me.

"The bullet broke some of his artey causing a slow leak of blood to start up, he lost so much blood the doctors are surpised he's not already knocking on death's door."

I moved my eyes away, taking all of his words in. I didn't know how to take them. Ayden had saved me from being taken by Hill and now he was paying for it, with his life.

"Can I see him?" I asked quietly, everyone looking at me in surpisement. "I want to see him, for myself." I said, looking at Agent Wolfe as he looked shocked.

"Miss. Oaks-" He went to say but I stopped him.

"Please." I asked, looking at him right in the eyes.

Agnet Wolfe didn't do anything before he nodded his head, my dad helping out of the bed. I went to take my first step and my side responded with a cry of pain that caused me to gasp and lean over for a second, my dad specking.

"Sky, I really think it's not the best idea." He said, but I just ignored him and used the wall as some of my support, stepping out into the hall.

What surprised me was the number of officers that lined the walls, many of them looking at me as I slowly came out. As I moved forward, I notifed that each of the rooms had one glass wall that allowed people in the hall to look through into the room, chairs lining the walls for family members. But I took my focused off that and moved forwar I notcing that further down the hall, there seemed to be more officers be this one room.

As I got closer, Agent Wolfe got next to me until we both stopped in front of the room, looking through the class wall that was in front of us. But the thing that caused my heart to break was seeing who it was. Machines surrouding his body as I noitced that life support machines were attached to him as well, a large tub like mask over his mouth. His black hair was mess as a blanket only went up to his waist and stopped, leaving his pale chest to be exposed to the everyone. But the one thing that cought my eyes was that no cuffs were locked around his wrists, leaving his arms to rest at his side as his heart rate machine beeped every fours seconds.

"How long are they giving him?" I asked, not taking my eyes off him.

"One more day at topes. He lost a lot of blood." Agent Wolfe said before his phone started to buzz.

"Excuse me please." He said, answering the phone and walking away.

I placed my hand on the glass, looking at his body. It was almost like a nightmare, a battle going on in my heart trying to decided if I should be happy to see him like this or upset. I didn't know which side to take. It was only a few seconds later that Agent Wolfe returned next to me, his face pale as I looked at him.

"What's wrong?" I asked as he looked down at his phone, his mouth lightly opened.

"They found Ryan Hill's body. He was shot in a hotal, right in the heart."
