Chapter 27: Devil's bowl of flames

Author's Note: So I just wanted to warn you that before you read, there might be a lot of mistakes and all. I'm having a hard time right now with the death of a friend so my chapters for the next bit might be short and crappy.

( Also Song doesn't really have anything to do with the chapter, it's just for fun.)

Chip's POV

After finally coming back out of the sea of black, Chip found himself sitting on the cold floor, his arms still chained above his head. He couldn't remember what had happened, all that he knew was that his jaw was numb, and his head was screaming headache, leaving a hard and painful throb to take place on the back of his head. Slowly, he looked up, giving a soft, but little harsh tug on the chains, only getting them to hit each other, the ringing noise caring on throughout the room before Chip noticed a shadow move.

"H-hello?" He croaked out, his mind still foggy on where he was.

Nothing came back, nothing, only the sound of light feet moving around. Chip moved his eyes around, trying to find the source before he heard someone speak, but he couldn't make it out before he heard feet running up what sounded like stairs.

"Vem är där?" he managed to yell, his voice coming out scratchy, before he jumped when someone chuckled.

"Swedish? Cute." the voice laughed, Chip looked around for the source, his eyes landing on a large figure leaning against the wall.

Leaning as far forward as he could, Chip winced when the chains dug into his wrist, causing him let out a gasp before carefully leaning back against the wall. His eyes opening to a sound of a walkie talkie turning on, a voice he knew all too well specking.

"He's awake?" The voice spoke, the fog in his brain slowly starting to move, making everything hit him as he realized where he was, causing him to growl and pull harshly on the chains.

"Yep, and it looks like he is just now realizing where he is." The man spoke, Chip watching as he moved over to a table.

"I'll be down in a few, try to give him some water and food, but only a little, I need to grab a little gift I think he might want to see." His father's voice chuckled after he finished his last words, Chip trying to figure out what his father meet by the gift.

Keeping his eyes on the man, Chip kept on messing with the chains, trying to loosen the pressure on his skin that felt like a hot match.

"Alright my friend, let's get some water in you before the boss comes down, hate to get him mad." The man spoke, uncapping a plastic bottle of water, not even giving Chip a chance to speak before he forced the tip into his mouth, Chip choking quickly, water coming out from the sides of his mouth as he coughed, the man only taking the bottle out, a devilish grin across his face.

Taking in the air, Chip glared at the man, wishing that his hands were free to give the man a hard time, but knowing he was being held by his father, none of this was good, including the so called 'gift' he brought up.

Leaning against the wall, Chip let out an easy breath, his black sweaty hair falling in front of his face as he heard a door open, more than two pairs of feet coming, but one seemed off, it seemed as the person almost seemed hesitant. Leaning forward as far as he could without causing pain, his eyes looked towards the shadows that came down, his eyes narrowing at the sight of one he knew.

"Well, son, it's good to see you awake." his father's voice spoke with a light chuckle following behind.

Ignoring him, Chip kept his attention towards the second shadow that stood close to the stairs. He could easily tell that whoever it was, was small. But he couldn't make out the figure, making him look at his father, his eyes darkening.

"What do you want?" He growled, his father's laughter filling up the cold basement.

"Oh Ayden, you think you're a hero? Thinking that you could so easily as take my slaves and think that I would just shrug it off. Well, guess what, I didn't, and now, you are going to pay, not just by pain, but seeing her in pain." He growled, Chip looked back at the shadow, his heart leaping into his throat as he realized who his devil of a father was talking about. Shaking his head, he turned his head back towards his father.

"Leave her and the others out of this!" He yelled, pulling on the chains before a strong hand grabbed onto his shoulder, making him wince as the hand squeezed hard on his shoulder.

"Ayden Ayden Ayden. It's not that easy. In order for me to show you how angry I still am, I have to cause more than just pain on you." He said, Chip closed his eyes as he felt his father's breathe on him.

"I have to do it to someone you have built love for." He whispered, slowly taking a step back. Chip watching as his father looked towards the shadow.

"Have sweet nightmares son, you'll need them." He said, before flicking his wrist towards the shadow, Ayden watching as the person quickly left, his father right behind.

Before Ayden heard the door shut, he heard his father humming something to himself, his last words hitting Chip's ears before the door closed with a bang.

"Born to die."

Skyler's POV

"Um, miss?" A voice spoke, floating around the darkness that was slowly fading away.

I had no idea how I ended up asleep, in fact, I don't remember much, only that I wasn't home in my own bed. I was in the devils bowl of flames, and I had no idea how long I would be staying, or if I would even make it out alive for a matter fact. Slowly opening my eyes, everything was a blur as a figure stood before me, messing with their shirt, their body shifting.

"Hello? You awake?" The voice asked once again, making me open my eyelids more, the blur slowly dancing away, allowing me to see it was a boy, somewhere around my age.

Blinking a few times, I watched as the boy slowly knelt down, his brown eyes meeting mine, a small but soft smile appearing. I took notice of his hair that looked like a rat could live in, it's blond curls swirling around his head, a few on his forehead. We both looked at each other for a moment, before he lightly laughed, placing a hand on the mattress.

"Why good morning, or afternoon I should say. Sleep well?" He said, causing me to smile, only for him to laugh.

"A smile is always the best to wake up with. Now, you hungry?" He asked, making me looked at him confused as he reached across and slowly helped me sit up, a bowl in his other hand.

"What's-" I went to ask, but stopped and looked towards the door, thinking to see someone watching, but from where I was, it was only me and the boy.

He must of taking notice of my stopping in my sentence because he looked towards the door before looking back at me.

"Only for 10 more minutes." He spoke, lowering his head as he looked back up, forgetting he was holding the bowl and handing it off to me.

"So, name?" He asked, looking away as I took a small bit of whatever was in the bowl.

"Skwler." I said with a mouthful of food, my eyes going wide, my cheeks heating up when I saw him smile, shaking his head.

"I'm guessing Skyler?" He said, looking at me and raising an eyebrow.

I only nodded, looking away.

"I'm Brett, the second to normal one around here." He said, bring his hand up and brushing some of his curly hair out of his face.

"Hum." I said, swallowing. "There's more?" I asked, seeing him look at me.

"Yeah, you have already met South, he's the one who took care of your wrist. There's Pintey, I would stay away from him if you don't want Hill breathing fire and the best for last, Lucy, the other girl." He said, tapping his fingers on his knee as he bounced it up and down.

"Wait, Lucy? Lucy Stark?" I asked, quickly swinging my legs over the bed, ignoring the pain that hit my arm.

He snorted before laughing. "Yes, her last name is Stark. Do you know her?" He asked, raising an eyebrow towards me.

I opened my mouth to answer but stopped when the sound of someone walking in made me stop and turn my attention towards the door to see a man, his short blond hair spiky, his blue orbs looking at Brett who quickly stood up.

"Is she done?" He asked, looking at me for a split second before he looked away, his face dead serious.

Brett looked over at the bowl, before he looked back towards the man. "She ate most of it..." He spoke softly, his eyes staying past the man. The man only grumbled something before walking over and taking the bowl from me, ruffly putting it in his hands before speaking.

"Hill wants you to let Heath out, but keep an eye on him, take her with you." He said, my eyes looking over at Brett as he only nodded his head, the man walking out of the room.

"And that's Keene, one of the guards. His twin brother is Maddox.." He said, rubbing his forehead before setting the bowl on the nightstand and standing up, reaching out a hand towards me, his eyes staying towards the ground.

"Come on, let's go, I don't know if the Master is on the edge or not so lets get it done." He said, his eyes looking up slightly at me.

I took his hand and he pulled me up, letting go of my hand and leading the way, his feet lightly walking across the carpet as he walked towards the room that I remember Will was in. I watched as Brett opened the door, the only light in the room was coming from the window, my eyes looking around to find Will across the room, his arms in front of him but still cuffed together as he slept, his hair a mess. I looked away from him to find Heath sitting in the far side of the room, sitting in the corner as he had his head resting on his knees.

"Buddy." Brett said, kneeling down next to Heath and tapping him on the shoulder, Heath's body moving a little before he weakly lifted up his head, his eyelids heavy as he blinked, looking at Brett.

"W-hat?" He grumbled softly, not even seeing me standing in the middle of the room as his eyes stayed on Brett.

"Hill is letting you out, lets get your ankles unlocked." He said, standing up and walking over to the door where he picked up something from the dresser, a jingling noise taking place as he walked towards Heath.

Heath looked puzzled as he slowly sat up more, his eyes moving around the room before they finally landed on me, his eyes going slightly wide. I saw his face expression and lowered my head, placing my left hand on my right, looking towards the ground. After what had happened, I didn't know how he was going to react. As Brett unlocked the chains from around his ankles, Heath's eyes stayed towards me, a mix of emotions swimming through his eyes.

When Brett got the chains off, Heath slowly stood up, his eyes only staying with me for a few before he looked away, Brett said something to him that I couldn't hear. Heath slowly nodded before he followed behind Brett that walked over to me.

"You can come downstairs, I have things I need to do so maybe you could help Lucy." He said, Heath looked away from me, his eyes wandering all over the floor.

"What about Will?" I asked, pointing towards him making Brett turn his head to look at the sleeping Will against the wall. Heath's voice speaking.

"He won't be up for a bit, they fed him something that knocked his lights out." Heath said, placing his hands in his torn pant pockets, his eyes still refusing to look at me.

Brett only nodded. "Sounds about right. Well, let's go." He said, walking out of the room, Heath slowly behind him. I just sighed as I followed, holding my arm as I followed them out, heading towards the stairs.

As I made my way down the stairs, I saw the same man who had walked in on Brett and I, but when he looked towards me, his eyes were brown. Confused, I looked away, suddenly remembering that Brett told me the man had a twin brother, strange, very strange. When I got into the kitchen, I saw Lucy standing by the sink, her hair let down as she cleaned dishes off.

"Lucy?" I said, seeing her head snap up as she looked towards me, her eyes going wide, her hands almost letting go of the bowl.

She blinked a few times before she set down the bowl, turning her full attention towards me, her voice soft as she said my name. "Skyler?" shock in her voice as she walked over to me.

"I-I-this can't be real." She mumbled, rubbing the back of her neck as she looked towards the ground before looking up at me.

"You're the girl that Hill brought in?" She said, her voice still showing she was shocked.

"Well, seeing that most of the other people here are boys, and that I came in with a boy, then yes." I said, Lucy smiled a little, before it disappeared, her eyes looking past me.

Turning around, I swallowed, seeing who it was. A smile was across his lips as he folded his arms behind his back, stepping into the kitchen, making the hair on my arms stand up real quick. "It's good to see you awake, really, it is." He said, Lucy taking a step back.

I didn't say anything as I just looked at him, everything feeling cold. "What? No reply? I was nice to give you food this morning, wasn't I?" He said, unfolding his arms, running his hand down his tie.

"Say 'thank you, sir.'" He joked, making me narrow my eyes.

Mumbling under his breath, he spoke. "Thank you, Sir, for the yummy food." He spoke, looking at me.

"Nice job specking in the thrid person." I mumbled, seeing him narrow his eyes at me.

"Your one pain, what happened to the sweet Skyler that listened like a good girl." He mumbled, looking straight at me.

I just shook my head, looking away. "She doesn't listen to people who break her arm." That got a smile to creep across his lips as he wagged a finger at me.

"Maybe I should of taken your brother, that would be one show." He laughed, causing me to turn my head towards him.

"What did you do with Noah?" I asked, seeing him laugh.

"He's in good hands. But really, I don't know. I just know that that brat kicks hard." He mumbled before speck again.

"But, Miss Oaks, I need you to come with me so Lucy can get back to her job." He said, Lucy quickly getting back to work.

He started to walk away before he stopped, turning his head towards me. "Please follow so I don't have to call Maddox to carry you." He said before he continued to walk. I slowly followed behind him, seeing a boy across the room that looked up towards me, his name quickly popping into my head, South. He looked at Hill and me for a second before he got back to what he was doing, going onto his knees.

Looking back in front of me, I saw Hill standing by a door, waiting for me as he looked at me, before he reached into his hand and pulled what looked like a key.

"Follow me." He ordered, unlocking the door, the door opening to show stairs that lead into darkness, making me glance at him as he started to walk down.

Slowly, I followed behind, looking around the best I could as I started to feel the coldness. When we finally reached the bottom, I heard what sounded like chains moving before a voice spoke.

"Back already?" The voice said, making me look as Hill hit a switch and the lights turned on. I closed my eyes for a moment before opening my eyes, squinting to see who was sitting on the ground, looking right back at me.

When I saw who it was, it felt like the whole world froze.
