Chapter 2: Mute

"He's been mute since we had to cuff him to the table after he went crazy and tried to grab one of the officers." A officer said as he pushed a button and the blank screen popped up to show Chip, whose cuffs were locked to the table and he had his face pressed into his palms. Ever since the attack took place and Chip been almost nearly killed if it wasn't for Agent Wolfe and his lazy eye, something had made the fearless Ayden break.

"How bad is he now?" Agent Wolfe said, looking at the screen for a little.

"Um, if you want to get yelled at, then I say wonderful. The boy wet himself, I'm telling you." The officer joked.

Agent Wolfe just rubbed his chin. "Skyler." He finally said and I raised my eyebrows.

I then understood what he meet. "No. Are you out of your loving mind? I'm not going to be in a small cell with him, he could do something and get out of those cuffs!" I yelled, shaking my head.

"Sk-"

"Don't Sky me. I'm not a puppet you know?" I said, pointing a finger at my chest.

Agent Wolfe just rubbed his forehead. "We needed to know if he knows the person, or if he knows anyone to give him a third eye. Skyler, if you can sweet talk him, seeing how he likes you, then maybe he can snap back to being himself." He said looking at the screen. You could lie and say the screen was frozen, Chip hadn't moved a muscle.

I just shook my head. "No."

"Agent." A voice said from behind me making me spin around to meet a man who raised his brow at me, before giving me a nodded. I slowly returned it and watched as Agent walked up him, shaking his hand.

"What is it?" He asked as he shot me a look before returning to the man.

"I was sent to show you what we found on the video tapes, mind if I put it on the screen?" He asked and Agent Wolfe just nodded.

The man put it in and the showing of Chip soon disappeared as a recording of the hall showed. Both Agent Wolfe and I watched as daily people walked by, until the man paused it. "Do you notice anything weird?" He asked, looking at both of us. "Besides the people. Nope." Agent Wolfe said, crossing his arms. The man just rolled his eyes. Before he pointed at a person on the screen. "See this person? They were wearing a red hoodie, just like the one the masked person was wearing." He said and I stepped in a little, whoever they were, they know how to cover their face as well, they were looking away from the camera which meet they know about it. "But how does this help us?" Agent Wolfe said. The man smiled, pointing a pencil at him.

"It mean's our hunter does his missions slick, like he doesn't want to draw attention towards himself. Ayden must of seen the masked man putting the gas mask on in order for him to push the officer to the side. Our hunter know's what he is up against." He said smiling like a mad man.

"But why were they going after Ayden?" I said, not realizing I said it out loud.

"How about you ask him?"

Agent Wolfe looked at me. "We could know that if you talk to him.." He said letting out a sigh. "But, I can't make you do anything." He said shrugging and I narrowed my eyes at him. Oh, he did not just pull that card.

"If I talk to him, will you shut up?" I asked and he laughed.

"Maybe."

I grumbled. "Fine, I'll talk to him."

I walked down the hall behind the officer, looking at the blank walls that passed me as we got closer to the cell they had Chip in. I was trying to decide if I should turn around and make a run for it. You'll be fine, just get him to tell you who he thinks is after him and you'll be out of this car wreck in a heart beat. Huffing, I stopped in front of a door that the officer had to unlock with three different keys to get it open. When it opened, I quickly took note that there was no windows, only a large light that was fixed above the table. Walking in, I also took note on how Ayden didn't even look up to see who had entered.

"If you need anything, just yell." The officer said and I nodded, glancing over at Ayden. Was he even alive? The officer gave me a smile before he closed the door shut, leaving me in the room with Ayden.

I looked at him for a moment, seeing that the hospital band was still around his wrist, the white jail band just under it.

"Ayden..." I said, swallowing and taking a step back. His body moved just a bit in the chair, but he didn't look up, yet.

"It's me, Skyler..." I'm sure he already know that but who cares.

I saw him swallow. Now we were getting something.

"Ayden..." I said moving forward, glancing over at the camera.

When I looked back, I nearly jumped out of my skin to see Chip looking through his fingers towards me, his eyes looked darker than they normally were. He slowly removed them from his face, and I didn't want to meet his eyes, at all. He didn't say one word. Man, I like mute Chip better, that's for sure. He glanced over towards the camera, before looking at me.

"I-I need to ask you a few questions."

"I don't know who it was."He said making my skin crawl. He seemed so dark at the moment.

"Do you know who might be out to kill you?" I said slowly and he shot me one nasty look.

He just shook his head. "I'm so dead...." he mumbled, looking at the table, his breathing increasing.

Come on Sky! Move in now!! "Chip..." I said and he slowly looked up at me.

"Tell me names, please."

"I don't know any.." He said, sinking into the chair.

"You do."

He growled a little. "You think I would know who is out to kill me?"

I narrowed my eyes at him. "Look, you're lucky I'me even standing here. Those Agents are trying to find someone who is trying to kill you, and honestly, I hope they find you first." I said placing my hands on the table, locking eyes with him.

"So, you can tell me names, or sit on your sorry little butt and wait for a bullet to be in your head. Your choice, I can't force you to do anything." I said, raising my hands and giving him one last look before I slowly made my way towards the door, my hand on the doorknob when I heard Chip voice come from behind.

"Wait."
