Question: How did the Dexters get grabbed in the first place?

If you haven't read any of the other squadrons books, that's ok. There is one that has the same details.

Basically, they were trying to have a simple day without too many interruptions and Taen took that as an opportunity to grab them.

Simple day! And Taen is still a little lulu.

But yeah...

Also, you asked if grabbed = captured...

Yes. He straight up captured them.
