Chapter 25: A Surprise Attack

Lucy's POV

  4 long months had passed since me, my brothers and cousins reunited. At that period of time, we were able to train our magics and grew stronger each passing day. Also, our bond as a family strengthen even more. It was refreshing and exciting. Being alone for over a month after leaving the guild was hard on me. I don't know what i would have done if i didn't come across them. I would have still been ignorant of what was really happening and what was to happen. If that encounter didn't took place, i would have no way of knowing about Death Corpse. They might have gone after me and i wouldn't know.

  Training with them was fun. Despite the short amount of time of training, i'm proud to say that i'm stronger than ever. Along the way, Stella helped us. She mentored us and guided us when we were lost. Meanwhile, Death Corpse didn't showed up after that fateful night. Not even a shadow of their members. The ones who we fought before were captured by the Magic Council. They have no memory of what transpired here but the insignia they beared was enough proof of their crimes. Apparently, Death Corpse is a dark guild. They had been for over 20 years now.

  "Lucy! Let's go! We promised to pick up Kurt and Yuuki on our way home!" Max snapped me out of my thoughts as he yelled from our office's door. It's been months since they started working. Zach-nii and Max did exceptionally well. Their works were constantly being published on every issue. For my sake, they decided to use pen names as well. Although, they just used their first name. Zach and Max. Boring, right? Kurt-nii and Yuuki were also doing well. Because of those two, the coffe shop they were working at became famous and well known all over town and neighboring places. The place is always crowded!

  "Yeah. Give me a minute!" Fixing my stuff, i hurried to my feet and catch up to my brothers. The three of us walked along side each other, sharing stories and occasionally joking around. Once we turned on a corner, i felt my blood froze. I gasped, the same time my companions did. At the direction of the forest, a large amount of dark magic can be felt. Even though the distance from there and here was miles apart, i can clearly feel the menacing aura and murderous intent.

  Who was it? Why did they come here? Wait... Could it be them?

  Without any hesitation, we ran off to that direction. Every step we took, the dark magic seems to grow larger and nearer. Half way, we bumped into Kurt-nii and Yuuki, who also felt it. There was no surprise there. The magic was practically taunting us. Like it was purposely letting itself out in the open. It might be a trap but we can't ignore it. Hoshi Town is a peaceful town full of nice and kind people. And i intend to keep it that way. They welcomed us with open arms, gave us shelter and helped us survive. I can't let them get hurt.

  "We're almost there! Prepare yourselves!" Our small group nodded at Kurt-nii's orders. We were already deep inside the forest, even farther than our training ground. As we neared the place, the magic level just grew and grew. If i were to guess, we're about to go against a group of S-Class Mages.

  "We're here." I said, entering a small clearing, my brothers and cousins following close behind. It wasn't as large as our usual training ground but it was big.

  "So, you brats came at last? Took you long enough." A voice echoed. Using my heightened hearing, i tried to locate the source but it was difficult. It echoed everywhere, affecting my sensitive ear. From the corner of my eyes, i can tell that Max was experiencing the same.

  "Who are you?! Show yourselves, cowards!" My impatient brother yelled, making a sword using his shadow magic.

  "Yuuki, create a barrier around the place. Make sure not one of them passes and attacks the town." I mumbled to her, gripping two specific keys from my belt. The usual bubbly girl nodded, gathering her magic.

  "God of the Heavens, Activate! Uranus Form!" Yuuki was enveloped with golden light. Once dimmed, her normal attire was replaced with an angel like attire. Her dress was white that ends below her knee. The top part was covered with an armor, much like Erza's but more fitted to her figure. She has a halo floated over her head and small angel wings on her back. She also has on white ballet shoes.

  "Infinity Sky Wall!" She chanted, lifting both of her arms sidewards. She glowed, green light hugging her body. The ground started to shake, sounds of gust of winds was heard in a distance. It worked. Yuuki's magic never seizes to amaze me. She can adapt the powers of the 9 Gods and Goddesses that represents each planet. In a way, she has control over majority of all the elements.

  "Awww, you guys don't want us to play with the townspeople?" From the tall trees, a group of mages emerged. Gritting my teeth, i went to battle stance, so did my family. They were at least over 30 of them, majority of them were guys. From the looks of them, most of them are S-Class. Like i thought, an all out ambush.

  "Are you from Death Corpse?" My twin asked, sending a glare towards our enemies.

  "Yes, we are little Godslayer." This is bad. Most probably, they know our magics. They knew our signature moves and if possible, our weakness.

  "What do you need from us?" Zach-nii asked, changing the form of his shadow sword to a double edge one that was half his size. However, they didn't feel the slightest bit of fear. Instead, they chuckled darkly at us.

  "To retrieve you, of course. Also to invite your precious little Dragonslayer come along." Glaring, i fished out the two keys i were gripping earlier, preparing myself to summon them.

  "As if we'll let ourselves be used by the likes of you! Gates of the Maiden and Lion, i open thee! Virgo! Loke!" The two called spirits emerged from their own magic circles and charged at our enemies. I didn't waste my time as well, imitating their actions. My brothers and cousins not far behind.

  "Celestial God's Roar!"

  "Celestial Dragon's Roar!" Me and Max did a unison raid, successfully knocking three down to their knees. Unfortunately, that didn't did the job. Seconds later, they were up again, charging at us.

  "Celestial Dragon's Iron Fist!" I aimed to one of them, sending a magic powered round house kick to a second one.

  "Celestial Dragon's Crushing Fangs!" i immediately chanted. One of them managed to block my attack but the other was knocked out, unconscious. Well, that's one them. Lots more to go.

  "Descending Stars!" I heard Kurt-nii chanted. Glancing to his direction, i saw stars started to rain down, hitting at least five of them. My older cousin caused them quite the damage. He's in the mood to fight. Sheesh, his Galaxy Magic is really awesome. The power to control the heavenly bodies such as stars and planets is really cool. God knows how thankful i'am that he's in our team. I wouldn't want to come across him!

  "Tainted Souls, detected! Number of Victims: 7. Astral Manipulation, Activate!" Looking back at Zach-nii, i cringed seeing his golden eyes. His usual eye color changes to gold whenever he uses his magic. Astral Manipulation allows him to control the souls of his enemies. He can make them do what he want. Much like that Mr. Cursey effect. Only his doesn't need any strands of hair or anything. He just needs his prey to be in his line of sight or the spell won't take effect. Also, they need to be the same level as him, if not, weaker. Just like Gemini when they're transforming into someone.

  "Soaring Sky Bird!" Yuuki summoned a big white bird. It's feathers was snow like, eyes as blue as the sky. It doved from the air, slashing three enemies with it's sharp wings. They all groaned in pain, Yuuki took the opportunity and used a spell to knock them all unconscious.

  By the looks of it, 8 of them are all down. Despite that, the rest of them are still on their feet and refuses to retreat. Clearly, we're outnumbered. Only a matter of time before we drain our magic. We need to finish this. Fast.
