Chapter 3
Nya's POV
"Wow," as soon as I walk into the center dome, I'm shocked with what I see. It's an ideal mix of a suburb and urban landscape. In the center, there is a huge park filled with trees and hills of green grass. There are also several sets of buildings. The main area where people primarily stay seems to just be the town square, but there's space outside that's empty where people can go.
"There's a movie theater?" I ask as I walk past it. I have a security guard with me who is showing me around.
"Yes. There's also a library, club, and more," he gestures to the two buildings next to it.
"Is there any thing I need to know about this place in general?" I ask.
"There are a couple of rules, but as you have probably heard from other people, your roommate will tell you those," the guard tells me using a monotone voice. I shouldn't have expected anything less from the guards here, seeing as they have to keep a ton of elemental masters in line, elemental masters that I haven't seen yet.
"Where is everyone?" I ask. The guard shrugs.
"Doing their own tasks. The town is never busy. The busiest it gets is when Harumi walks through with her friends," at the mention of the princess, I get confused.
"The princess is an elemental master?"
"No but she comes to visit a couple of them all the time. When I say all the time, I mean practically every day," the guard starts to walk me to one of the bigger buildings with several levels. "I'll escort you to your room where your roommate is waiting. She'll finish showing you around." Silently, we make our way over to the towering building. It has a modern exterior, unlike all the other buildings. It was probably recently renovated.
We walk through revolving doors to a massive lobby type place. There are chairs scattered everywhere with the occasional table set in between them. The walls are covered with paintings of many famous artists over time. Looking slightly off to the side, there are two people guarding an elevator. My guard starts walking that way, so I follow, until he reaches the elevator. The other two guards step out of the way.
"This is the new one?" one of the guards asks. The one I'm with nods.
"Yep, I'm delivering her to Skylor, then I'll come back," at the name Skylor, my attention is caught. If I can remember correctly, that's Chen's daughter that got taken here when she was five.
"Well hurry. The princess is coming through in ten minutes. We don't want any elemental masters to go out of line and attack her," after those words are said, the door closes, and we start rising in the elevator until the door opens again. Once again, as the guard starts to walk, I follow him. We pass several other rooms, but stop at a room with a door that is just plain orange. The guard hits his fist against the door, knocking.
"Who is it?" A smooth, feminine voice asks from inside.
"Open up Skylor," the guard commands. After a couple of seconds, the door opens, revealing who I believe to be my roommate. The feature that sticks out to me the most is her red head pulled back in a ponytail.
"How can I help you? I'm a very busy person," she leans against the doorway with such confidence.
"I brought you a roommate. You didn't think you could be alone forever, right? You're lucky Tox and Chamille got caught together and wanted to share a room," the guard roughly laughs, shoving me into the room and closing the door. I look at my new roommate who just looks shocked.
"Um, hi I'm Nya. I'm guessing you're Skylor," I say after a couple moments of silence, sticking my hand out. That finally breaks her out of her trance.
"Skylor, as you guessed," she smiles, but seems distracted. I look around the room where there are two beds, one a mix of yellow and orange and the other one white. "There's a remote you can use to change the color of the sheets. It's cool." She places a remote in my hand. I scroll through the different color options, and I end up choosing sky blue with maroon highlights. As I do that, Skylor rushes around the room like a madman, cleaning it up and setting stuff up.
"The guard told me you were going to tell me some rules..." I casually try to bring up. Skylor sighs.
"I'm sorry Nya. It's just that today is literally so important. I'll explain it to you later. I just need to get everything ready," she tells me as she pulls out a high tech computer. Pulling out a seat, she sits down at a table.
"Oh okay," I was hoping to be able to investigate this place more, but I guess I'm going to have to sit in this room this day.
"I actually can't have you in here since people are coming in ten minutes," she is slowly starting to freak out.
"Where should I go?" I don't ask it sassily, but calmly. Skylor stops typing suddenly.
"I don't want to leave you alone. Some of the other elemental masters aren't the best people," she says, regaining her composure. "Would you be fine hanging out with someone else today? Tomorrow I'm completely open."
"Of course," I don't know if she knows I know no one here.
"Oh I know the perfect person," Skylor pulls a phone out of her pocket, unlocking it before putting it to her ear. I'm about to speak, but she starts talking. "Is there any way you can come to my room right now?" There's a pause. "Thank you. You're a lifesaver. I owe you." With that, she slides her phone back in her pocket and goes back to typing on the computer. "One of my acquaintances is coming. Don't worry, he doesn't bite." He?
"If he's an acquaintance, how do you know he doesn't bite?" I ask, making her smile a little.
"Friend of a friend," she simply explains. I nod.
"He doesn't bite, but he sure talks, a lot."
A/N: hey guys. I took a little while, but chapter 3 is up.
My updates might be a little inconsistent cause I have soccer (I was one of 3 freshman to make the team) and yeah.
Thank you to anyone who actually reads this. Lots of love
