Baek Ha Rim

my partner, shin ah, and i finally arrived outside the door of our room. excitedly, she took out the key card and unlocked our door using it.

bracing ourselves, we turned on the lights and walked inside our very own hotel room. once again, we were stunned by how luxurious everything was. the bedroom was spacious for just two people and we had our own separate beds. it was beautiful inside and very modern.

"heol, it smells so good inside! i love the smell of fresh linen!" shin ah exclaimed as she walked in.

inside the room, there were two couches at the side as well as a round table. in front of our beds, there was a flatscreen tv and a long table below it where we could place our belongings. the lamps were also beautiful and brightened up the room even more. the room had carpet flooring and there was a fluffy rug with two pairs of slippers on top for us to use.

shin ah decided to go to the bathroom to see how it looked like. just as i had expected, she was also amazed by how wide and well-maintained the facilities were.

"woah, they even provide a hair dryer?!" shin ah exclaimed.

i walked towards the bathroom to see for myself. there was a vent in the bathroom to keep it smelling fresh, and it also had more scented candles which we could light inside.

"ha rim-ah, i'm gonna try bathing in the bath tub tonight!"

"sure." i nodded.

i looked around and saw myself in the mirror. looking below the sink, i noticed that there was a drawer. opening it, there were soft and clean towels and bathrobes inside. inside the shower, there was also a shelf containing tubes of body soap, shampoo, and conditioner.

"i finally understand what sets these hotels apart from the usual ones. even the bathroom looks like a complete room itself. i feel like i could live in there and be thankful already."

i smiled at shin ah's statement. well, she was right. we got back to our bedroom and i decided to open the curtains for us so we could see the view outside.

"i'll start unpacking. by the way, what are you wearing tonight to our anniversary celebration?" shin ah asked with a smile as she started opening up her luggage.

"a black dress." i replied shortly.

"what? come on, you were there when we talked about wearing white for tonight. why did you break the dress code now?" she pouted.

"it's okay, you guys can stand out on your own." i said, walking towards my luggage to start unpacking as well.

"no way? or did you try to be the one to stand out from our group this time knowing that we were gonna wear white?"

"i'm not really concerned with that. you can have chae hyungwon for yourselves. i have better things to do."

suddenly, i realized the irony in my statement. they can't have chae hyungwon at all if my plans were also involving him.

"or not." i muttered.

"what did you say?" shin ah caught on.

"nothing. anyway, i'll hang out with those wearing black so that you won't even recognize my presence later." i shrugged.

"oh well, just do whatever you want. it's not like we're that bothered if you wear a different color from us..."

"okay. well, i think i'm going to walk around and explore the hotel now." i said, locking my luggage and finishing up.

"alright, take one of the key cards. i'll be hanging out with the other girls in their room by the way if you need me."

"noted. i'll see you later." i said walking out towards the door.

i finally closed the door behind me and scanned the empty floor. i was the only one out while most of the people were inside their rooms. i started walking, examining, and familiarizing the areas i came across with throughout my way. 

looking up the ceiling, i also found a couple of cctv cameras. i finally got to the elevator and went inside all alone. i wanted to find ceo chae's floor and room in the hotel but he's probably reserved in a vip suite along with the other executives of the company.

that information is not something they would disclose. it would raise suspicions if i suddenly set foot in such area of the hotel where the upper class were.

i finally got out of the elevator and reached back to the ground floor. suddenly, my phone rang with a new message, so i quickly managed to get it out of my pocket to see.

rowoon:
-guys, some of us are here at the pool area! it's at the 8th floor if you wanna come! there's a bar here too, and you'll come across the spa room and gym as well.

-the view from the 8th floor is amazinggg! i'm gonna go swimming now! bye!

apparently, it was just a message from rowoon in the group chat. i quickly slid my phone back in my pocket and finally decided to head to the front desk.

as soon as i was standing a few meters away, i cleared my throat and took courage to step ahead and ask them a question.

"excuse me, good afternoon." i spoke.

"yes ma'am, how may i help you?" the lady responded.

"i'm from chae's couture and i would like to ask you where our event later would be held? i'd like to check the venue." i asked.

"oh alright, as you can see ma'am to your left and right we have two hallways leading to different function rooms. the event for chae's couture will be held in the grand ball room which is to your right. it's the second and last room you will encounter in that hallway." she instructed.

"thank you so much." i smiled.

i proceeded to walk away and follow her directions as it was said. i entered the hallway to my right and found the first ball room to my left as expected. finally, as i kept walking, i eventually reached the grand ball room just beside the first room earlier. outside, there was already a sign showing that chae's couture's anniversary will be held there later as well as the time of the event.

i took a small peek from the outside as the big doors were left ajar. i found some men working on the designs of the stage and there were also tables and chairs set already.

the led lights were on and i also caught a glance of the speakers for the sound check they were facilitating. the men and women inside the ball room were working hard to prepare the venue, and they were already properly ensuring that everything was going to be flawless for tonight.

i decided to look away and shift my attention towards my surroundings in this hallway. there wasn't a dead end in this place because to my front, i saw a glass door. i slowly decided to walk towards it and eventually, i pushed it open.

walking outside, i realized that i finally reached the back of the hotel. it was a huge parking area.

"perfect. it's perfect." i muttered under my breath.

if i finally decide to cause chaos tonight, i could make an exit through this glass door and make a run out to the parking lot. since the event was set in the evening, it would be harder to catch me. people wouldn't suspect much because they'd be focused inside for the celebration until they finally realize what actually went wrong.

after the series of nightmares i encountered last night, my determination was shooting up. i was still burning with rage.

if ever i see chae hyungwon tonight, i know that i would only want to kill him.

i finally made my way back inside and walked out of the hallway thanking the lady at the front desk as i exited. i decided that it was best for me to go back up my floor so that i could spend some time in peace carefully devicing my scheme.

i eventually reached outside the elevator and pressed on the button patiently, waiting for the doors to open.

all of a sudden, i felt someone's hand on my shoulder, taking me by surprise. looking back immediately, i found who the unexpected person was.

"changkyun?!" my eyes widened in shock, not believing i was seeing him in this place.

he looked at me with a serious face. suddenly, without words, he tightly held me by the wrist and dragged me inside the elevator as the doors finally opened.

"yah, im changkyun! what are you doing here?" i asked, as it was finally just the two of us.

he simply looked at me in silence until he turned his gaze towards the top of the elevator. i slowly motioned my head towards the direction he had his eyes on and finally noticed another cctv camera.

i swallowed hard and went silent, trying to avoid suspicion. obviously, changkyun knew what he was doing and he couldn't talk about his reasons with me in this elevator if ever we were being monitored.

the doors finally opened to the 7th floor which once again surprised me.

"your room is in this floor, too?" i asked.

"apparently. room 714." he answered.

we walked out together side by side and headed to his room quickly.

changkyun sure has a lot of explaining to do to me.

he quickly unlocked his door with his key card and led me in as soon as the lights were on. i looked at his room and found his own luggage sitting by the side as well.

"is this for real? why are you here?" i asked, pointing to it.

"i followed you here, and i am indeed staying here." he spoke, crossing his arms.

"are you crazy? why would you do this? this is a luxury hotel, it costs so much to stay here just to tail me like this."

"and i tailed you like this because your father put me up to this." he revealed.

"...mr. baek?" i asked.

changkyun stood silent, giving me an affirming look.

"but why? i was gonna carry on with the plans anyway. he didn't have to spend money to tail on me like this." my voice became small as i lowered my head.

"no can do, baek ha rim. i agree with this anyway." changkyun shrugged and took a step closer towards me.

"i'm here to help you and to secure that things will go smoothly for you. you'll need a hand, trust me."

i gazed into his eyes for a moment until i finally looked away.

"thanks." i nodded.

"don't mention it. i'm just looking out for you. i'd like to see for myself how your plans would go too." he said, suddenly falling on his back to lay down on the soft mattress.

"well.. i'm going to need a little help from you later." i said.

by the mention of it, changkyun quickly sat up straight as his face mischievously lit up, gaining interest.

"just say it 'cause i'm up for it, baby." he pointed at me, his lips tugging into a sweet smile.
