Yoo Kihyun

i wasn't able to take my mind off her.

i've been attracted from the moment i laid my eyes on her, amused by our unique first meeting where she fell into my arms, and intrigued when she refused my kiss.

no one does that to me, and i certainly won't let her brush it off that easily.

i had a pride and ego to protect, and as much as i had a hard time forgetting about it, i wanted to leave an imprint in her mind as well. i wanted her to think of me the same way i did for her.

after the entire chae's couture team left my hotel, i ran a background check on baek ha rim. i found out just a few notable things because she was such a secretive person. she barely had any social media activity, yet she was in the marketing department of the company. it was hard to discover more about her online other than her messaging app accounts.

so, i decided i should just meet her again.

i stopped my car right in front of their office building. i found office workers starting to leave and realized that i was just on time. i was willing to wait no matter how long it would take for her to show up.

after a few moments of checking outside my window every now and then, my lips eventually formed a smirk the time i finally caught sight of the girl i was waiting for. unlocking my seatbelt, i went out of the car and decided to appear right in front of her as a pleasant surprise.

"look what we have here. we meet again, ha rim-ssi?" i smiled at her, confidently.

she looked at me with eyes wide open, slowly stopping on her tracks. she was quick to recognize that it was me who had come to see her, and i could tell that she didn't know what to do.

it was amusing to see her very startled and unexpecting of this situation.

"uhm- good evening mr. yoo. i'm quite surprised to see you... what brings you here?" she eventually asked.

i took a few steps closer to her, wanting to admire her up close.

"are you on the way home?" i started.

"yes, sir." she answered.

"do you have free time?" i asked again.

"i'm not so sure-"

"then make some time for me tonight." i spoke, firmly.

she was speechless for a moment, trying to contemplate on it.

despite that, her eyes never left mine. i felt that baek ha rim was capable of keeping a bold front and unwavering presence no matter how shaken she may be deep inside. she was silently a strong and confident woman, and i couldn't help but notice and admire that about her.

"answer me, then. what brought you here, kihyun-ssi?"

"i'm here for three things: to ask you out for tonight, to ask you out for another day, and to get back at you for something you owe me." i enumerated slowly.

"i owe you something? i'm pretty sure that i don't." she vaguely recalled.

"do you want me to remind you about it?" i asked, up for a challenge.

"only if you can." she let me proceed.

i quickly held her wrist and pulled her close to me. just by that, our faces were inches apart as i caught her by the back of her waist. she looked at me in confusion, but more than that, i was already able to tell that she was slightly panicking deep inside.

i thought about how cute that was to me.

"well, ha rim-ssi... you owe me this." wasting no more time, i quickly cupped the side of her face with my other hand, and went in sealing our lips together with a kiss.

i felt the rush inside of me spike up instantly. kissing her was like winning my prize. maybe it was because i redeemed my ego which she hurt, or maybe it was because i thought of her as a high-value woman.

feeling the tenderness of her lips on mine, i soon knew that i wanted more. i pulled her closer, wanting to deepen the kiss. she quickly held my shoulders, needing support because i was getting too lost in it.

i didn't know i had this side of me all because she deprived me of this from our date night.

she suddenly broke away from our kiss, trying to regain control of herself. i felt accomplished, but at the same time, i wished we could've kissed each other for longer.

i was expecting her to say something, but it appeared to me that she was still processing what had just happened. her cheeks were slightly blushed, and she was left speechless.

"you remember now, don't you? you shouldn't have teased me that way, ha rim-ssi." i slightly laughed, remembering that night.

i walked closer and took her hand, wrapping my fingers around it.

"let's spend the night together, shall we?" i invited.

Baek Ha Rim

i looked at scenery below the ferris wheel. at first, i felt at peace at how the wheel slowly turned in a round pattern of bringing us up, to the sides, and down.

but soon, it started to make me feel tense.

i didn't know if it was really the ferris wheel that made me feel that way. maybe, i was just looking for something else to blame other than the way yoo kihyun was looking at me.

i faced him and immediately caught his eyes gazing at me. he drove all the way to the amusement park, only stopping by a cafe to take out some warm bread and iced coffee for us to have along the way.

somehow, i was glad i haven't eaten dinner yet. if i did, i would've probably felt a lot uneasier with the butterflies i already felt in my stomach. we were enclosed in this space together, and his presence was overwhelming me.

truly, yoo kihyun was something.

"the lights are pretty aren't they?" he spoke.

"they are, i've been admiring the view around us." i agreed.

"i've been staring at you because the dim sky combined with the pretty lights were making your eyes shine. you look very beautiful, ha rim-ssi." he shot another compliment.

i found ceo yoo to be very vocal about his feelings. more than that, he expresses them like a literary piece unlike other people who would be timid or blunt with their words. he speaks smoothly, and he has that poised, confident demeanor which stands out to me.

"thank you.. i'd like to ask, are you afraid of heights, kihyun-ssi?"

"not at all. are you?" he threw the question back.

"i'm not sure.. i've never thought about it. i'm very much enjoying this peaceful evening right now but i do feel a bit nervous, too." i admitted.

"are you sure it's not me who's making you feel that way?" he slightly chuckled.

i smiled at him knowing that he was well aware of his effect on me.

"that's good if you're nervous. i'd like to keep having you at the edge of your seat when you're with me." he spoke.

that's it. yoo kihyun was charming me right by the book. he knew his way around the psychology of people and it shows. sooner or later, i'll be confusing this nerve-wracking feeling i get with the thought of liking him.

"how was your day at work?" he asked which interrupted my train of thoughts.

i was about to answer the usual "it was fine" until i suddenly remembered kwon eun gyeol and having lunch with the ceo.

"something interesting happened, i'm guessing?" he read right through me.

"i had an encounter with your cousin's fiancée today. it wasn't actually a good one... the ceo also seems to be having a cold so i got him some medicine and porridge." i revealed truthfully.

"you did what?" kihyun raised his eyebrows, both intrigued and confused.

i looked at him, not understanding what he was referring to.

"you bought hyungwon medicine and porridge because he had a cold.. did i hear that right?" he repeated.

"he asked me to buy porridge for him, but i decided to get cold medicine along the way." i explained.

"he asked you? he has a secretary, right? he also has minhyuk hired by his dad." i gradually noticed a change in his energy from the mention of the topic.

the suave ceo yoo i knew was now appearing very bothered.

"this isn't right. you know i'll get jealous if that's the case, ha rim-ssi." he suddenly spoke.

i looked at him intently, amazed by how upfront he was. he was sweeping me off my feet so i had to stay grounded to my plans as much as possible.

"hyungwon... he's very used to bossing people around. as an advice, i'd very much prefer you not doing something that's outside your line of work. of course, i'd also make sure to speak to my cousin. i took you out on a dinner date, so i don't understand now why he suddenly thought of getting you to do him a favor."

"it should be nothing you're worried about kihyun-ssi. work is work, and apparently, i serve ceo chae." i assured him.

the tension did not wash away. i could already tell that he was overthinking my relationship with his cousin. truly, a ceo wouldn't approach a marketing associate that casually especially for matters outside the business.

Mr. Kwon

a long day at work depleted my physical energy. finally arriving home, i walked my way upstairs, heading to the master's bedroom.

just as i was about to step inside, however, i immediately heard the door to my daughter's room creek open.

"eun gyeol-ah." i called her as the door revealed her weak figure stepping out.

she took a glance at me but immediately started walking away. with that behavior, i was quick to assume that my daughter had been placed in a bad mood. taking my hand off the doorknob, i decided to walk after her to discover what was wrong.

"eun gyeol-ah, had you been staying in your room the entire day?" i asked but was met with silence.

recently, her mood has been greatly affected by no other than her fiancé. knowing this, i decided to confront her about it.

"did something happen between you and hyungwon?"

she finally faced me, and there, i was able to see her eyes swollen from crying.

"someone's ruining my engagement, dad. i hate it!" she suddenly yelled and threw one of our flower vases to vent her anger.

"eun gyeol-ah, calm down! just tell me what this is about." i tried to get a grip of my daughter.

"hyungwon hates me even more now. i can't do this, it's so hard to please him! it's that girl, dad. she's latching onto him like a snake." she spoke, teary-eyed.

i furrowed my brows upon her mention of another girl. i hated the idea of my daughter getting hurt, more so that another party was involved in her relationship with hyungwon going downhill.

"the girl, who is it?" i asked.

eun gyeol took a deep breath, trying to control how furious she was.

"ha rim. her name's baek ha rim." she revealed.

my eyes slightly widened upon hearing the name. it rang a bell in my mind; i was certain but i still had to confirm it.

"why do you look like that? do you know her, dad?" my daughter caught on.

"i'll have to check and see." i gently patted my daughter's shoulder and went off to my room to seek for the girl's identity.
