Baek Ha Rim

i looked around elsewhere, trying to avoid meeting chae hyungwon and kwon eun gyeol's eyes. i knew that they were probably doing the same.

i roamed around the area pretending to be interested in eyewear myself to kill some time.

quickly, i picked out a small rectangular-framed pair of glasses and tried it on my self as well just to put my focus somewhere else.

however, i suddenly began to see another pair of glasses being handed out to me by someone else.

i traced my eyes on the owner's arm until i slowly looked up to my left and saw that it was ceo chae himself. he looked down at my face with such ease and didn't bother to take his arm away.

"for face shapes like yours miss baek, full-rimmed glasses will complement your features. softer faces look good with strong angular lines like this one." he spoke.

i looked at him for a few minutes and did a small bow immediately. i looked around the place and realized that eun gyeol was nowhere to be seen.

this was probably why he was even able to approach me.

"thank yo--"

"ha rim-ah!" i suddenly heard changkyun's voice call me.

both hyungwon and i turned our heads back to face him in sync.

the moment changkyun saw hyungwon close to me, i saw him clench his jaw for a moment before i walked towards him.

"yes?" i asked.

changkyun loosened up and brought his focus to me. he showed me the gold heart-shaped glasses he tried on. it was uniquely designed with pink lenses.

"do you think it looks cute? i think i can wear this for summer." he smiled putting it back on for me to see.

i smiled the moment i saw how it looked on him. i initially had the impression that it was gonna look weird, but maybe changkyun really had that handsome face which could pull off a lot of things.

"it unexpectedly looks good.." i affirmed.

"you could get the same design in another color ma'am. it's perfect for you both as a couple!" the sales lady suddenly offered.

Chae Hyungwon

the moment baek ha rim left my side when she was called on, i put back the sunglasses i offered her back in its shelf.

i casually looked around on my own until eun gyeol finally got back inside the store after going out to throw something in the trash bin for a short while. she immediately clung onto my arm like how she usually does the moment she got back in.

"how unusual is that. they're still here trying on those pieces? could those two really afford what they sell here in this place?" eun gyeol frowned.

i didn't bother travelling my eyes to where she was looking at, but i already knew who she was talking about.

"stop looking at them and just carry on with looking for what you wanted to buy. dad told me i'm treating you for tonight so just hurry up." i looked away from eun gyeol and released a sigh.

"you could get the same design in another color ma'am. it's perfect for you both as a couple!"

i suddenly heard the voice of the sales lady speak. i paused on my spot for a moment until i eventually turned my head to see if what i heard was really true.

i looked at ha rim and saw her react by getting flustered at the statement. she simply looked at changkyun and they exchanged smiles at each other.

so, were they a couple or not?

"we'll take his only, thank you." ha rim spoke.

"alright, ma'am." the sales lady smiled and proceeded to the other side of the store with ha rim and the guy she came with to buy what they have chosen.

i suddenly felt eun gyeol tug at my arm, so i finally looked away from them and placed my attention back to my fiancée who wanted to show me something instead.

eun gyeol and i waited outside the main entrance of the mall side by side each other. we finally finished shopping, and i was currently helping her bring the shopping bags we had while she called minhyuk's number on her phone for him to fetch us now.

"thanks for today! i had a lot of fun. honestly, these things you got me didn't matter. i just wanted to spend time with you above all things." eun gyeol confessed.

"we both know you like splurging on things. that's just who you are." i answered.

"still! even though i do spend money a bit too much, you alone could make my day or night wonderful." eun gyeol smiled and quickly clung onto my arm once again and rested her head on it.

i looked away, turning my head to the side until i suddenly noticed baek ha rim coming along with that same guy from the eyewear store.

my eyes slowly widened at the sight of her, but i had to look away immediately.

Baek Ha Rim

changkyun and i finally went outside the main entrance of the mall as we both decided to wait for taxi. we finally finished shopping together, and changkyun was looking really happy about the things he bought.

"you sure pizza was enough?" changkyun asked me as we walked to the front.

"yeah, we even took out two slices because i was too full. besides, seeing you happy about the things you bought is a pleasant sight to see." i smiled.

"that's good." changkyun smiled and nodded to himself.

"we even got mistaken as a couple. just how awkward was that?" i chuckled remembering that encounter.

"haha yeah, we both couldn't even muster up the courage to correct her, so we just stood there in silence."

suddenly, a street child interrupted changkyun and i as he started approaching the two of us, extending his hand to beg.

"kyun-ah, maybe we can give the extra pizza slices instead?" i asked him.

"sure.. wait kid, i'll get something for you." changkyun quickly took out the paper bag which contained our takeout and gently handed it over to the child.

"noona, hyung, thank you so much!" the child expressed his gratitude.

i carefully watched him run away in joy because of the food he received. as i looked over to the direction which he passed, i turned my head sideways and unexpectedly noticed that ceo chae and his fiancée were present beside us all along.

my eyes widened as i saw the ceo looking back at me with those eyes.

his eyes, they always had that emotionless and cold expression. but somehow beneath it, i could feel that the ceo was a man who had a lot of thoughts in silence.

and i wonder what he thought about me.

Chae Hyungwon

i watched the same street child who came to eun gyeol and i earlier this evening approach ha rim.

i remember his face when he came to us the moment we were about to enter the mall. the child tugged on my blazer which surprised me, but eun gyeol was quick to shove him away because he was dirty.

yet there, ha rim was showing compassion to the poor child. i had a lot more things to spare and give the kid, but ha rim had a kinder heart than eun gyeol and i probably did.

i watched ha rim's face light up in happiness as the young child was joyful upon receiving the food she had shared. what a beautiful sight to see.

was she always that helpful to others?

ha rim turned her head to ensure that the child was running away safe, and eventually, she caught sight of me just as i had expected it to happen.

we stared at each other for a moment. her eyes were wide in surprise. maybe she thought it was a funny fate to have encountered me here once again, but here we are waiting together in silence.

she eventually blinked her eyes twice and was quick to give me a small bow as a sign of her acknowledging my presence. i simply gave back a small smile and turned to face eun gyeol whose petite figure was right beside me, still clinging onto my arm.

"changkyun-ah, let's go." i heard ha rim's soft voice call on her friend.

they quickly brought with them their bags and went towards the taxi cab that they will probably be riding back home.

"oh, minhyuk's here!" eun gyeol took her arm off me and pointed out the familiar black car.

minhyuk stopped the car right infront of us, and before i could even wait for him to come out and open the door for us, the door was already pushed open from the inside.

there, i saw the smiling face of my father who was happy to welcome eun gyeol and me together.

"...dad?" i spoke.

Baek Ha Rim

i helped changkyun get the bag of things he bought inside the taxi first after the last passengers made their way out.

"kyun-ah, you go in first." i motioned.

"sure? well if you say so." he spoke and quickly made his way in.

i soon noticed the black bmw of the ceo make its way towards him and his fiancée. i looked at them for a while, but soon took my eyes off to avoid being misunderstood.

quickly, i placed the rest of the shopping bags which i carried in my hands inside the remaining space of the taxi.

"...dad?"

suddenly, i unexpectedly overheard chae hyungwon's voice call out. at  that very moment, my lips slowly parted and my eyes widened hearing the miraculous word.

i hurriedly turned my head to face chae hyungwon, but it was too late as i saw him get inside the car along with his fiancée. in a quick snap, the door was already closed and the car started driving away from the place.

"ha rim-ah, will you get in or not?" changkyun called my attention, looking worried.

i swallowed hard and tried to regain my senses as i dragged my body to get in.

i closed the door behind me and the car started moving. quickly, i faced changkyun in urgency.

"changkyun-ah, i don't know if i misheard or not, but mr. chae might have been inside chae hyungwon's car!" i tried my best to whisper.

"what? then what do you want us to do? harim-ah, we can't just go after them now. we're riding a taxi." changkyun whispered back, reminding me.

in hopelessness, i brought my face to my palm as i tried to reflect on the situation.

"i'm sorry ha rim-ah, i know you're dying to see mr. chae but even if you did tonight, you have no clear plan." changkyun placed his hand on my back.

"i know.." i calmed down and agreed with changkyun.

"maybe, i'll get the opportunity for another day." i looked into his eyes, worried but hopeful.
