Nikki's pov****

I continued walking through the lively town. It was so busy with people walking here and there, children running everywhere.

I sighed.

I saw an old lady walking near a large fountain and I decided to approach her.

"Excuse me miss, do you happen to know where I am?"

She looked at me and smiled, "why of course! You're in the center of castle town!"

I nodded, "alright thank you very much."

I groaned, that lady was of no help.

I sat on the edge of a fountain when I saw a man yelling at two little kids.

"THIEVES!"

I saw the little boy fall and drop an apple he had in his hand and hurt his ankle while running from the man. As if on instinct I got up and ran towards them.

I saw the man grab the little boy and drag him in the air, "You better have money for that rat!"

He went to grab the other kid, a little girl slightly older than the boy, and grabbed her by the hair.

Rage filled me and without thinking ran towards them. And kicked the man right where the sun doesn't shine.

"YOU BITCH!"

"HOW DARE YOU HURT INNOCENT CHILDREN!" I quickly pulled the kids from him and stood in front of them.

"They're thieves! And law allows me to kill the thieves!"

I spat on his face, "you're nothing but a joke and so is whoever wrote that stupid law! I won't let you harm these children anymore!"

The man, red with anger charged at me and hit me straight across the face causing me to fall on the floor.

But I stayed in front of the children, shielding the kids from that horrible man.

The man pulled out something from his belt, grabbed me by my hair and pointed it at my throat.

A dagger.

"What is going on here?!"

The man, let go of me causing me to once again fall to the ground.

"G-general! These kids were stealing from me and this woman interfered! It's my right toe bring justice on them."

I laughed, "look at you, you're nothing but a huge bitch wearing the clothes of a man."

The man glared at me and rose his arm to strike at me again, but was stopped but the man on the horse.

"Sir, it is against the law for riots and street fights to take place here. As for placing justice on others I suggest you leave that to the guards." He pulled out a silver looking gem from a leather pouch and handed it to the horrible man. "This should be enough to pay for whatever they stole. Now leave and stop causing commotion."

The man nodded and left, not before looking back at me and glaring.

I turned and hugged the kids, "it's ok you're safe now."

The general motioned his horse closer to us, but I ignored him, deciding to check the kids for any injuries.

"It was dangerous what you did, but brave. Not many women here in hyrule do that."

I scoffed, "I'm not from here."

He chuckled, "I can see that."

I smiled at the children, seeing they were perfectly fine except for a few bruises. "Who are your parents?"

They looked down, "we don't have any.." The little girl said hugging her little brother closer.

The girl looked to be about nine years old, she had dirty muddied skin, really messy dirty blond hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a makeshift dress made out of what looked to be curtains.

The little boy looked like he was five. He had brown short messy hair, muddied skin, green eyes and a makeshift tunic.

I smiled, "let's get you washed up." I stood up and grabbed both of their hands and walked towards the fountain.

I was completely aware of the general following me since I could hear the clip clop of the horses hooves.

I sighed, "General don't you have something to do? You know, bad guys to imprison, or-"

He chuckled, "damsels to save?"

I rolled my eyes, "I didn't need saving."

I sat down at the edge of the fountain and with a pice of cloth I found, I wiped the mud from the little girl's face.

I heard him get down from his horse and sigh, "was two years really enough for you to forget me?"

I frowned and turned to finally look at the man in the eyes.

And I was met with familiar blue eyes.

My eyes widened.

"L-link?"

He smiled, "nice to see you again Nikki."

I laughed and hugged him. I tried to keep my tears from flowing in fear of startling the kids.

"How about we get you somewhere safe?"

I nodded but then I frowned, "and the kids?"

Link looked at the two children and smiled, "they can come too."

I smiled and hugged him again, "thank you thank you thank you!"

He laughed and I turned to the kids, "let's go home." They smiled and link picked them up and placed him on his horse, with me riding on the back.

"Are you sure it's ok?"

Link chuckled, "it's fine, the castle isn't that far, I can walk."

Link pulled on the horse's reins and led us to a large stone castle.

I cleared my throat, "so you're a general?"

He smiled and blushed lightly, "yeah, I just got promoted last year." 

I smiled, "congratulations then."

We stopped in front of two huge doors and once me and the kids were off the horse link led us inside the castle.

"Nikki?"

I stopped and looked at a familia woman. "Anna?"

She smiled and ran towards me forcing me into a bear hug.

"Oh my gosh it is you! I'm so glad you're ok!" She stopped and looked at the two kids hiding behind me.

"Awwww they're so cute."

"I know, I saved them ^-^" I said pridefully  and link coughed.

I pouted, "with links help of course."

"Nikki?"

I looked behind Anna and saw another familiar woman.

"Zelda?! Wow look at you! You're all... Princess like?"

She laughed, "well I am the princess of this land after all."

Anna rolled her eyes, "one that won't stop spoiling me."

Zelda laughed, "don't worry, Nikki will get her own share of spoiling too."

I put my hands up, "no no I'm fine! Although, can you keep them here with me?"

I motioned to the kids behind me and Zelda smiled, "of course, they will be cared for."

I smiled, "thank you z!"

"Princess I would like to have a word with you."

Zelda nodded and link went off to talk to her about some things.

I smirked at Anna, "nice outfit sis."

She blushed, "thank you. Why don't we get them cleaned up? Come with me I'll get Sonya to make a bath for them!"

I rose an eyebrow. "Who's Sonya? Oh and what all happened?"

Anna sighed, "long story."

I smirked, "I have plenty of time."
