~Chapter 3~
Keefe POV
As soon as Keefe heard they were going to see Foster, he almost jumped up and started to celebrate. But he didn't. Because if they were going to see Foster, he couldn't mess up the hair.
"Ooh, you think Sophie has human clothes in her room Linh and I can wear?" Biana dreamed, "maybe she even has some of those clothes with the sports team on them!"
"You really think Foster would wear those kinds of clothes? And by the way, they're called jerseys. There are such things in the Lost Cities, you know," he said, rolling his eyes.
"You never know, Sophie may have worn those clothes! You've never seen them!" Keefe seriously doubted it.
"Anyways, I don't know about you guys, but I'm wearing my Batman shirt," he bragged, "bet you guys don't hav-"
"Shut it, Keefe," Fitz interrupted. Keefe gasped dramatically and put a hand to his chest, faking hurt. "the Black Swan already has human clothes for us," Fitz finished, Keefe wondered how they got the clothes, but didn't bother asking.
"Alright, these are for the girls," Edaline placed a stack of colorful clothes on the edge of the sofa as Grady came in with the boys' clothes.
When everyone was finally dressed and the girl's purses were filled with necessities in case they came in contact with Sophie, (Keefe of course, wearing his Batman shirt along with some jeans), the parents and the collective gave goodbyes, the six friends huddled together and raised the leaping crystal to the light, the warm, tingly sensation thrumming in Keefe's mind, and he almost lost concentration. 'Stop distracting yourself' Keefe scolded himself, and in a matter of seconds, everyone reformed on the other side. They were in New York City.
The air stung Keefe's lungs and his eyes burned. Humans let pollution get way out of hand. After everyone's coughing fit subsided, they looked around at their surroundings. They were standing in a large park, benches scattered around here and there, the trees strung with small lights, but were not lit, as it was still morning.
"Where are we?" Dex was the first to speak up.
"New York City," Biana replied, "Obviously, I meant where in New York City are we," Dex fired back. "I don't know, a park somewhere." Dex sighed, taking the fact that he wouldn't get a straight answer.
"Well!" Keefe exclaimed, bringing up the mood, "Let's go find Foster!" Linh smiled and seemed to agree, but the others just sighed, nervous looks painted on their faces, not that he needed to look at them, he could feel Dex's emotions when he bumped into him and assumed the other's felt the same.
The six friends wandered the park for a grand five minutes before Fitz spoke up.
"There she is!" He practically shouted. "Jeez, who needs to shut up now," Keefe grumbled before sparing a glance at where Fitz was pointing. And there she was. The girl nobody had seen in three years, Sophie Foster.
Sophie POV
Sophie jogged closer to the side of the trail, hoping the two girls would somehow not see her. It's not like she was avoiding them, but Biana and Linh still slightly gave her the creeps, and now they had multiplied. She turned her music up, as if that would make them go away. But, unfortunately, no matter how loud her music was, they still spotted her. Linh smiled while Biana waved and their friends just stared at her. Sophie sighed and pulled her earbuds out as they trotted over to her.
"Hey, Sophie!" Biana said, a large smile on her face, "Nice to see you again!" Sophie plastered a fake smile on her face, hoping it looked normal.
"Same to you, are these your friends?" Sophie asked, "Oh, yes, this is Dex," she pointed to a strawberry haired boy who showed off his dimples, "this is Keefe," the tall blonde smirked, and Sophie somehow knew he meant trouble.
"My twin brother Tam," Linh took over, "And my older brother Fitz," Biana finished. Sophie waved to everyone. "Nice to meet you, I'm Sophie." They all politely waved back and they kind of seemed like they all wanted to run up and hug Sophie in a way. "So, are you guys from around here, or for winter vacation?"
"We're here for winter vacation with our parents," Fitz explained in the same weird accent as Biana, "Do you live here?" He wondered aloud. "Yeah, I live on campus at Columbia University, I'm a student there."
"Cool, cool," Fitz replied. "Where are you guys from, if you're only here for vacation?" asked Sophie. Dex opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted by Sophie's phone ringing. She furiously blushed and hurried to decline the call. "Sorry about that, anyways, continue." Sophie apologized.
"As I was saying, we actually come from-" Sophie's phone rang again, this time she answered, "I'm so sorry, one minute please," she excused, as she walked a couple feet away.
"What do you want?" Sophie hissed into the phone.
"What do I want? I want you to get back to the dorm right now!" Maylee shouted back.
"I'm on a jog!" Sophie defended, "Why do I need to suddenly stop my peaceful morning jog just for your benefit!"
"'Cause you promised we could watch Frozen II today in the theater!" She ranted, "And I'm not going alone, because I'll look lonely and it'll be embarrassing!"
Sophie sighed, she knew she wouldn't get out of this, and if it gave her a reason to get away from these creepy people, who all had blue eyes, (Of course she didn't miss that!), then Sophie would take it.
"Fine, I'll be at the dorm in five." Sophie ended the call without waiting for a reply and turned back to the group of six, and pursed her lips.
"Sorry, I have to go, my friend is going to murder me if I don't get to the movies soon, but it was nice meeting you all."
"Sure, go ahead, nice meeting you as well." Keefe said. Even as Sophie waved and walked away, she couldn't help but feel like they were still watching her, waiting, to see what her next move would be.
