Bruised [Leon Kuwata]
I ran my hands over my softball bat, throughly (haha, no) considering my options.
"You sure you want to do this, Rio?"
"Yeah."
My OC, Yugi, leaned against the doorway. I met his sharp green eyes for a fraction of a second before pulling a purple pencil out. "He deserves to have company."
He blew his bangs out of the way, eyes narrowed as I clicked the pencil absently, checking the lead before writing mid-air. "...have fun with him."
"I will," I promised, then finished the word with a flourish and watched as the very room crumble before my eyes.
OoO
BANG.
I tilted my head at the sound, taking in my surrounding. The area was a base-ball field, a score-board broken and blood-stained, and I cringed at the words.
Leon Kuwata: 0, 0, 0- it went on till what was labeled ten innings. Below that:
1,000 Fungoes: 100, 100, 100- each inning had a hundred.
His execution score-board.
I took a step forward, taking in the dirt, which was a shade darker then the normal dirt you would find on the field. Leaning down, I scooped up a handful.
Sticky.
It was freaking sticky from blood.
My heart leapt in my throat as I looked around, the harsh wind biting at my loose hair and throwing it around. "He's not here..."
BANG.
The noise reminded me of throwing a ball at a metal plate.
"Leon?"
Bang.
Softer, this time. I raised my head to skim the crowd seats, which were empty. Near home-plate, I could see thirteen seats that had golden plates imbedded on the back-rest.
Walking closer, I peered through the dusty net to read them.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru
Kyouko Kirigiri
Makoto Naegi
Oh my god. This is where they would've sat if this was his execution.
BANG.
I slipped through the dugout before bounding up the steps, wordlessly reaching the top.
"Leon!"
The figure in the metal cage turned, a baseball tightly gripped in his hands. Behind him, a iron plate hung with a large dent in it with scratches.
My knuckles were white as I gripped the caging, staring at him.
Leon Kuwata looked exhausted. His jacket was discarded, tossed carelessly in the dirty corner. His electric-blue eyes were bloodshot, agony lurking behind them. His flame-red hair seemed dull, sticking to his face and neck with sweat.
"Who are you?"
Swallowing dryly, I tugged at the lock that held the door shut, surprised to watch it crumble in my hands. "I'm an author. The name's Rio."
"Leon Kuwata."
"I know," I said softly, and he cocked his head to the side in response. "The Ultimate Baseball Star."
His features hardened at the mention of his title, and he turned away, whizzing another ball at the plate. "Don't."
This isn't Leon.
His execution clearly hadn't only left mental scars on him- multiple bruises marred his arms and jaw, no doubt from the baseballs in 1,000 Fungoes.
I trembled lightly at the thought of what death did to the others, watching Leon hurl a pitch. "...Monokuma did a number on you, didn't he?"
Leon stiffened, his aim suffering for my question. The ball whacked the wiring about a foot off from his target.
"...yeah."
I laced my fingers together, lips pulled in a frown as I watched him silently. "Leon..."
He stopped throwing, turning his head towards me as I said his name. "Who else died?"
"Chihiro, Mondo, Ishimaru, Hifumi, Celes, and Sakura," I decided to leave out the mastermind, and he nodded stiffly. "How long you been here?"
"It feels like forever."
I wanted the old Leon back. The one that laughed, the one with terrible pick-up lines, the one that was happy.
Mutely, I snuck up behind him as the redhead reached for another baseball before throwing my arms around him. Admittedly, I had done this with the other two Dangan Ronpa character I met- Gundham and Kazuichi- but I didn't care.
"I'm sorry," I muttered softly into his shoulder, but Leon didn't reply. "I'm sorry you were thrown into the hell of Mutual Killing, I'm sorry Sayaka attacked you and you accidentally killed her, I'm sorry you're here."
Aaaaand that's where the inspiration stops. LEON MY BAE *wails* oh, in the picture, you see the 11037? Look at it upside down.
